    Black. That was the only thing in the boy’s view. Any being that might exist in this world was shut out indefinitely. Not only from sight, but every other sense was numb- a hollow void in his brain being the one thing he could mentally process.
    He could not wrap his mind around the overwhelming sensation growing speedily and steadily, an emotion perhaps? One not even he had not experienced in his past however-many years he’d been trapped in the dark space that still surrounded his physical and mental body. He winced as he became dully aware of what the anomaly was: pain. It must have been decades since he had felt it so sharply and clearly. It filled not only his mind, but his entire being, as he screamed. For once in his life the skull shattering feeling was the single thing that made sense in the universe.
    The boy shrieked as he uncovered his eyes and saw what was causing him such torture. No longer could his complexly simple mind comprehend what he witnessed. 'What is this?!?!' He mentally screamed.
    Sora? A lisped voice called.
    Be careful, he still has to recover. Once he is accustomed to the light again, his memories will begin to flood back. He will be in more pain then, even compared to what he is experiencing now. Another voice stated matter-of-factly. This voice was different though; not only was it feminine and soft, but melodic and strange.
    "A-hyuck, is there any way we can prefent it?" Different again, this time southern sounding almost with over its use of slangs.
    "PREVENT, Goofy, you idiot!"
    As the pain drifted away, the boy chanced opening his eyes again. This time, the sky-blue colored sight organs stunned him and his head swam as he began processing the room in which he was stationed.
    The walls were white, as was the floor. Also on the floor were light blue patterns, symbolizing whatever they symbolized and entrancing him as he stared at them.
    "Sora, are you okay?" The third voice questioned.
    The boy looked up at the three characters standing before him. A duck… A dog… and a girl were all stood in front of him. The duck and dog were wearing clothes, oddly enough, and also held weapons. The girl could have worn the world’s ugliest pantsuit for all he cared and she would still be the most beautiful person on earth.
    "Who is Sora?" He asked. "And…who’re you?"
    "Um, Sora, we’re your friends! Don’t you remember us?" The lisped animal questioned him.
    "No…. should I? I’m pretty sure that I’ve never seen you before." The boy told them, confused as to why his answer should be any different.

    He sat, transfixed, on his onyx-black throne
    Covered by the blood of the woman his own
    His kingdom knew that all was lost the day he snapped
    When his young daughter died as he laughed
    Every peasant still remembers the light golden hair
    The ringing voice vibrating the air
    Her blue moon eyes as deep as the sea
    The startled face of her husband to be

    But everything changed the night the moon turned bright red
    So many were dead, so much bood was shed
    The king cracked like glass without a reflection
    Cursing the daughter while causing infliction
    The pain like sharp ice shattering her porcelain skin
    The stinging poison, like tiny sewing pins
    And then the blood gushing like a cataract of the nile
    Spilling onto her pearl-white dress as she was thrown into a pile
    Of every dead person, every soldier, every mother
    Every child the king smothered

    Well, you see...
    My personality changes on the dime sometimes...
    Such as one moment I'll be happily disscussing anime and the next I'm p.o.'d and friggin screaming at people. One day I'll f eel cute and confident, then one I step foot off the bus I'm almost depressed enough to make suicidal attempts. I was wondering if anybody here had some experience and could help me.

    Chapter 1
    "Touch my heart,
    Steal my soul,
    Under the influence of pain,
    Bleeding on the sidewalk,
    Skipping through a graveyard,
    Grim blade,
    Cracking skulls,
    Broken bodies."
    The middle school teacher recited to the children in the class. "What do these things make you think of?" "Death, fright, helplessness." One girl dared blurt out. "Katie, silence till I call on you!" The teacher snapped at the girl.

    The girl called Katie was wearing a white spaghetti strap top with a black pair of jeans. Her hair was long and colored soft brown. On her feet she had a worn-out pair of red sneakers and on her back she wore something different and strange. Wings. They were long, white and angelic, matching her delicate face. But she was not like her fellow students in yet another way, she dared to disobey. She was little for believing in God and wished that she could just fly away from his churches. But her wings were tied to her back during the day and at night she was locked in an old dark house.

    The bell rang for recess and she stood before the rest of the students and brushed some hair out of her face. "Katie, would you like to spend recess with me?" A voice that Katie didn't recognize asked kindly. Katie turned around to see the new boy who had joined their school that morning. "Um, no, I can't. I have to get away from all of you." Katie told him hurriedly and rushed out the door. "Katie, please! Give me a chance; I'm not like the others!" The boy yelled and began to run after her. The boy rushed ahead of all the children who were chasing Katie and yelled something in another language at them. They were knocked back by an invisible force and Katie turned around to see why there were no hostile feet making noise on the concrete playground. The boy walked over to her. "I'm Antonio, nice to meet you Katie!" He said cheerfully.

    "Wow, that was amazing magic!" Katie stammered. "Thank You!" Antonio replied and dusted off his khaki shorts and white polo. "Why do they chase and torture you?" He then asked to change the subject. "I'm not sure, because I'm different I guess. They'll hate you too now. I guess that makes us partners." Katie said as she began to walk. Antonio ran his dark hand over short black hair "I guess so".
    "So...Katie...do you wanna hang out some time? Since we're partners now and all?" Antonio asked after school. "Um...I kinda can't. Right after school thet hide me away in the unused wing of the church. They're afraid I'll cause an uproar if anyone sees me." Katie explained sadly to her new (and only) friend. "Oh, sorry. If there's anything you need, just whistle as loud as you can." Antonio told Katie as he walked out the door of the classroom.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "She will find out sooner or later why you can use magic." A voice called out into Antonio's mind as he walked into a tiny white house on the poorer side of the city. "I can conceal it!" Antonio cried out. "It's safe now... you may change now..." The same voice called.
    Antonio was engulfed in dark wisps of fog and mist until all that was left was a cocoon. It was dark purples and blackish-grays and shook with the force of an earthquake. It suddenly burst open to reveal a creature covered in feathers of gray with sharp talons extending from where Antonio's fingers and toes should have been. The creature's face was pale with focused violet eyes that quivered as it watched to make sure no one had watched the startling transformation. It's grayed and dulled lips formed letters that never came out. "Ka-Ka-K-Katie-" The creature stumbled to say. "W-Will have K-Katie!"
    Chapter 2
    "Antonio! Wait...who..who..who are you!? Agh, you monster!" Katie bolted up and off the church wing's floor, "God, another bad dream..." she told herself as she began dressing. She slipped on black jeans and a red camisole, put on black and red striped elbow-length cut-off gloves and stuck silver heart dangles into her pale earlobes. As she tied the laces of her red and white converse shoes, Mother Marie walked into the room. "Child, have you prayed this morning? God sees through your lies as he sees your soft brown eyes!" she told Katie. "Mother Marie, my door has been locked. How could I have gotten to the altar to pray?" Katie informed the woman as she walked by her and into the church's room of prayer.
    "Dear and holy god,
    I thank thee for my meals
    I thank thee for my shields
    I thank thee for my life
    I thank Jesus Christ
    amen."
    Katie recited the same words that she had said every morning of her life an she kneeled in front of the altar in the church's prayer room. She looked up at the giant stained glass window behind the altar, studying it as usual. But wait, something was different...there was something clinging to the top of the window, close to the ceiling...something with gray feather, like an oversized bird. But it had a face, and dull gray lips. It's eyes were violet and focused...On Katie!
