What about a cloak that visually plays a part in their deaths? Remember the ways for Desouls to die? The cloak could burn along with the Desoul, or maybe resists and fall on the ground (and dissapear shortly after).
Opposite of "despair"? "Hope"! I find it a very cool name, especially for a girl. "Faith" is good as well. I like the idea of Xehanort recruiting Keybladers. After all, he definitely knows how to manipulate. Corruption and Despair would want to use the Desouls, ignoring the true menace they represent, in order to defeat the Heartless. We need to come up with names for them. What parents would name their child "Despair"?... I was thinking that Xehanort would be alone in the final battle, thus all Keybladers would've realised that he gives them little importance. Corruption and Despair, used to live with manipulation, would impress everyone when they use this talent for good, as they betray Xehanort and ruin his plans. What do you think of this? ***Freaky coincidence : I just saw 2009's first lightning. And the name you (Pezz) liked in those I wrote was Eclair, the French word for lightning. Okay, we got some new ideas, so back to the Wiki I go. I have to do my part in keeping it alive, after all.
Here's my (probably) last contribution to the character's names, at least as in "translating words from other languages". It didn't go out so well, so I stopped midway (or far from midway, actually). I started making a list of words translated in several languages, using online translators, if not my knowledge. However, I really don’t see many interesting names. Once again I come to the conclusion that they sound better in Japanese, probably because it’s a far different language. Names usually don’t sound like normal nouns. Using a Latin language thus makes them sound sorta lame, for most words. I’ll post my little research anyways, even if it’s not complete. IF you guys and gals find many of the names interesting, then I’ll continue my research. But as for me, I don’t see much potential, so I’ll keep it as is, for the moment. I totally forgot to check this Thread... sorry about that. I gotta admit that your first post was pretty conclusive. You made a lot of good points. But for the sake of participation, I'll play the game as well : 1. Ember - Universal - Someone mentionned hearing "amber", but I told myself that a fire symbolic would help. The lowest Nobodies are represented as nothing, and are named Dusks. Heartless are pretty much darkness itself, thus the weakest are Shadows. Unbirths, if they're only a Soul and Heart, must have strong emotions. Thus, I chose Ember, since emotion=fire following several symoblic means. 2. Big ...Baddie? - Universal - To remain in the original KH's trends, it must begin with an adjective (Large Body, Fat Bandit). I chose "big". 3. Trooper - Universal - IF it has an Emblem, then it's reminescent of Soldier Heartless, thus explaining my name. If it doesn't have one, then it is, like you said, more like a NeoShadow. 4. Ground Stomper - Universal, but especially in Cinderella's world (because of the shoe). Not much to say here. 5. Ravens - Reminsecent of Wyverns. Possible Maleficient reference, so they'll abund in her world, but I would still say universal. 6. Magicians - They simply remind me of Sorceror Nobodies. 7. Evil Pot - Now I really have no idea. 8. Mean Plant - They look A LOT like a Heartless. I can't put my finger on its name, though. And... that's pretty much allI can think of. One more thing : Do most Heartless have names composed of two words, whereas all Nobodies have only one? There are several exception Heartless-wise (Shadows, Soldiers, Wyverns, Defenders, etc.), but I thought I'd mention this anyway. I tried naming the 8 Unbirths with two names as well, except those who are reminescent of one-word Heartless.
You mean, similar to Organisation XIII? This is a recurrent theme actually, because Nomura stated that Terra, Aqua and Ven were supposed to have cloaks as well, but since it was used for the Organisation already, he made them wear armor. The drawing you did on the other Thread did seem to have a cloak of some sorts. If the "cloak" is actually part of the Desoul's body, it can look cool. However, if it's a separate item (or the same for every Desoul), then it will be too repetitive.
What do you think of : Keyblader : "What! She's a Princess of Heart?! How can SHE help us out! A Heart filled with light is a Heart that cannot fight! What if we make only some Desouls have it? Like, bosses? They have the strongest soul, so their auras should be the most powerful. What do you think, zillagod?
Alright, you made the group! Nice to be part of it now. So, what should we discuss here? I used it to make my own AMVs a while ago. Oh, and Pezz, not to sound annoying, but is there a reason the Group's name has an apostrophe after the "s"? This makes "masters" a possessive word, which does not fit with the rest of the name...
- For Pezz's Emblems, the third one you suggested is really the best. It's far simpler than the rest, is somewhat vertical like the other emblems... the two turning spikes are perfect, but the part between them (that... bag thing), need to be reworked. - For zillagod's Emblem, I see the connection with your Post on the other Thread. The blue aura. And I gotta say, it looks awesome. If we incorporate this idea in this whole project, and give Desouls auras, it will be perfect. - Finally, for Kme92's idea, I agree. And, inspired by all 3 of you, I suggest that we try mixing Pezz's third suggestion with zillagod's Emblem. What I have in mind is that third Emblem of Pezz, with the bottom part a bit more complex, and with some sort of aura around the Heart (or the whole Emblem). - As for the Desoul, it kinda reminds me off... Deoxys. A bit funny that both your posts, zillagod, made me think of a Pokemon :) It looks cool, and, just like Pezz' first drawing, has that "candle" thing of its head. Is it a flying creature? Looks a bit like a ghost.
Like all enemies up to now, Desouls shouldn't be able to talk. However, more powerful ones, with the greatest sense of self and the strongest souls, can preserve their human form. They can talk. Since it's been like this for every enemy until now, I don't think we'll really argue about this, but if you object or want to add anything, you're welcome. First off, welcome to KH-Vids, and thanks for helping us out! Second, your idea. It works very well with something else we thought of some time ago. We said that when a Desoul is fighting, its appearance will change. If they're covered by an aura (if that's what you meant by "cover"), it can also change its color and intensity. It could become more red as they fight. Gameplay-wise, this will be terrific! Whereas a weak Desoul should only have two "phases", depending on its remaining HP, it's Aura's color can constantly change, with the slightest HP lost making a difference. Before I go further, what do you think of this? It was your idea after all, zillagod, so you have your rights on it. The concept behind the Aura is a little harder to understand though... They are pure beings? What do you mean by "pure"? And what causes the aura? The Soul itself, which isn't very well "attached" to the body? Hm... Does anyone else think of Lucario here? ;)
Well, I got good news, cuz I speak several languages (English, French, Spanish, Romanian). I never thought of translation something in those, actually. I'll take some time to think about how some words translate... most of them are very similar, due to all those languages being latin-bases, but there are unique words everywhere, too. As for your idea of making names by cutting letters, this sounds interesting. Remixing letters, like the Organisation, but without X, is nice as well. Once again, I'll take some time (I'm busy AGAIN) to think about those. It's quite fun actually, I used to mix letters (usually to invent Nobody names) during boring classes last session. Having a Keyblader ready to do anything is an excellent idea that we must keep. One that would do anything. Sorta like Riku in KH1. And the name Kyfre, pronounced as you said (Ki-Free) is good for the ear. The entire name, said like this, makes you think of the word "key", not to mention its first syllabe is "key". Oh wait, did you mean you pronounce it as "KEY-Free", or as "KAI-free" (where "AI" is like the lone letter "I")? Maybe we should use the official international pronounciation table...
The number 3 is used in many stories... maybe because it's the bare mkinimum to get a Triangle, which allows more possibilities than a Line (two people). Also, a recurrent theme is that of two guys and one girl. Actually, I don't think I've EVER seen the contrary, two girls and one guy. Oh, and yes, Ven (or Ventus) is Latin. Japanese translations Riku = Land Kairi = Sea Sora = Sky Latin Translations Terra = Earth Aqua = Water Ventus = Wind And now we have the possible links between characters. Ven and Sora could be related thanks to Roxas, Aqua looks like Kairi, and Terra... Er... Terra and Riku are both suspected of using darkness? Anyway. So, to go back ON topic, about the girl's name. I too like Rei and Rin the most. But, I wonder if we can follow Sora&Co symbolic references. Like, her name could be Japanese for... Nature, Tree, Night, Star, or something like that. Of course, we should find something relating to her ''stick to the rules'' attitude. Now, lemme do my part and check some more names in Latin... ... This isn't going too well... ''Moris'' means ''Rule''... what else... Can't find anything that suits KH... Well, I guess Japanese is a better solution than Latin.
I don't mean any offense, although some people will get offended... That's one of the things I dislike the most in religion. The fact that it's made in a way that can't be fully and completely proved wrong. Whatever people say against it, it's technically possible to say "it's something we can't grasp". In fact, everyone I argue with over this subject, in real life, eventually pops that line. Of course, there is a lot that CAN and HAS BEEN proved wrong. Such as creationism, for reasons that were more than explained in this thread. But the concept of a "god" existing was made in order to be undeniable to some extent, because of that excuse that "we can't grasp it".
Fair enough. She must have a motive, and finding Kairi is a good one. White moon? Nice idea there. So is Kairi using her purity to uncorrupt KH. Of course, Sora, Riku, and perhaps everyone present must help in some way. Supporting her, at the very least. True, so we can't have them separate... not only that, but I'm concerned about KH fans trying to kill me for separating them :guns3: . I wouldn't really like seeing them separated, even if this allows a dramatic ending. True. And Ven's eyes indeed move. It's very difficult to see it online, but when you see it on your TV, there's no doubt about it. I thought the cutscene occured somewhere late in the game, but either way, we can't use any of this. It's farfetched, and also risks conflicting BBS. We dont' want to have to change everything when BBS comes out! I have trouble seeing Sora if he thinks Kairi is dead. But, don't forget that she just got teleported, in our current story at least. Why would everyone think she's dead to begin with? Everyone teleports in the KHU, often without their accord, or without any reason. Of course we can think of something that really makes her seem dead, but then we must think of Sora. As I previously said, he wouldn't just change overnight. Even if he gets pumped up on revenge, he can't do so in 10 minutes of gameplay. Orly? I never noticed. Then again, I'm not sure what are the average number of views a Thread has, since I'm new here. People, don't be afraid to come and share your ideas! Even if it's crazy or sounds stupid! Might not sound stupid to us! This isn't a private Thread ; everyone can join! Think how good "Helped invent the next KH enemy" will look on your Resume :D "Rei" sounds cool, but here's a littel something : Sora, Riku and Kairi don't sound too Japanese. Also, half the characters have an "R" in their name (and the other half was named "Ansem" at some point in the game). Also, there are a lot of characters with two syllabes in their name. Notably, ALL Keybladers, except Master Xehanort (Ven is actually named Ventus, too). So, we could keep this trend going, or dismiss it as a simple coincidence. You got interested in Japanese, so I got interested in Latin. Unfortunately, everything I could think of sounded out of place in a KH context. What do you think of "maiestas", meaning "dignity"? We can work the name a bit, but still, I believe your suggestions are far better. Agreed! Double letters are awesome. Same for numbers. The "99" in my name isn't a coincidence.
Actually, it's an interesting idea. A bit too late now that our Desoul Emblem is nearing completion, but... Your idea could work for a creature that hasn't lost anything, but instead gained something. Heart, Body, Soul + something. I'm thinking Brexen could use this for his Triad idea. Brexen, you reading this?
It looks excellent, but the bottom part looks a bit dark to me. It could either be a lighter color, or slightly thinner. I am ready to accept it as it is though. It DOES look like a plant, but that's not a problem. The Nobody emblem looks like some... quite disturbing things, depending on how oyu look at it... and if our emblem looks like a plant, we could play with this idea, and have real plants with that shape. Tht could grow on the Desoul world.
Oh, and I forgot something. Sorry to double-post (or, technically speaking, quintuple-post) on your Profile. We should make a Social Group for...

Remember, Kme92, that we thought of having new Keybladers appear in this game, comign out of hiding. Having one at the very beginning of the game would be quite awesome, and will make players interested to see more. Also, Pezz, we HAVE an "In Between" Keyblade. It's called... Way to the Dawn. Remember that in the short secret ending of KH2, Ven picks it up? While Terra and Aqua pick up the Kingdom Key and Inverse Key? It's name is also significant. Kairi's Keyblade can be the keyblade of purity. Quite literally... I mean, if you hack it into the game, it can't hurt anything (;)). Ok, seriously though, the flower ranbow Keyblade kinda looks pure. So waht does this mean? I have absolutely no idea. Sorry, but we'll have to think this one through... Ok, so : Riku + Gummi Ship = Wtf, for me as well. So I came up with this, mostly by taking Kme92's idea and sorta remixing it (so, Kme92, tell me what you think of this : ) Riku comes to Radiant Garden first. He does have flashbacks, confronts his past, etc etc, but ends up REGAINING the power of darkness. Not as "being consumed by it", but as "controlling it, like in KH2". So, Pezz, this will allow Riku to travel with his dark portals. Of course, you'll only be able to do so at Save Points. At least to go to another world. As for the world(s) of the dead, this is quite complex. And it sorta belong in the other Thread, too. Oohh, that's why the original Thread got kinda forgotten ; because we've all been telling everything here instead. Agreed. My thoughts exactly! Can't we just have her be a Destiny Islands native? Why would she come to DI fight the Desouls, if she's so obsessed about not meddling? I do agree with her being strict, though. Sora thinking that Teal captured Kairi = could work. Sora thinking that Kairi died = uh-oh. This is problematic. While it might get people interested, imagine what will happen to Sora. Hey, I remember onec telling, out of coincidence, that if Kairi got killed, Sora would probably become a Desoul. Anyway, he probably won't continue his journey. At least, not without a serious menace. And this early in the game, the main menace is the remaining Heartless, which doesn't look too bad. Now, I have thought of something concenrning the game's ending. But first, I got a question which should actually be on the other Thread : What happens when the Nobodies enter KH? Pezz mentionned this as the game's ending, after Xehanort is defeated. Nobodies can become complete. But how? They are surrounded by Hearts... but can they just take one for them? Or can they feel feelings, being surrounded by so many Hearts? So, that's the question. Now, my idea : Since the Nobodies contacted Roxas, and had him become their leader, Roxas could stay behind in Kingdom Hearts. And maybe Namine as well, because she won't want to separate from him (remember that they are linked to Sora and Kairi). This idea needs developping, but I got this image of two possible endings, depending on whether the player chooses Roxas to continue leading the Nobodies for a while (or forever), or if he goes back into Sora. IF he stays inside KH, here's a cliched ending : "Roxas... Namine... we'll remember you. Your names and your kind will not be forgotten. *Looks up the sky, and sees KH*. Whenever we see the moon, we'll remember you... for as long as it's there, so will you. I think I accidentally came to something greater than I expected! Remember te BBS trailer? Master Xehanort summoned Kingdom Hearts after freezing Ven. I wondered if he used Ven's Heart to do that ; why would he do it right after Ven is frozen, but Terra and Aqua are still around? Since Ven is Roxas (somewhat), could this have a link?
Cool, but why only a door? Let's have it be used for everything possible. Like the Nobody symbol. Boss weapons, symbols dotting the walls, room shapes, etc etc.
