I got some pretty decent replies to this on tumblr so I'll see how you guys feel on it. I remember times when interviews weren't needed and a time when they were taken too seriously so it's interesting to see opinions on the subject after all these years.
0.2 Back Cover DDD Tbh I only really wanted Aquas game but the movie was worth one sit through due to the personality of the Master of Masters. I absolutely hate KHDDD however. I'll play it once since I already wasted the money but I only really cared about the Aqua game. (I think most did tbh) Honestly I kinda wish there was an alternate collection options. Like digital or PSN deals. It'd be quick, cheap and easy and wouldn't take time from KH3 so it can remain of schedule of coming out after I'm old and lose hand function. Like I'd love for a PSN kinda deal were you could buy and download which games in the collections you want, I'd love a KH1+KH2fm+RecapVideo deal. Edit. I should clarify I hate DDD for gameplay reasons specifically.
I wouldn't be surprised if many didn't like it because they are just used to short series or nonstop action. The art of a slower story is almost lost these days.
haha I found it pretty accurate.
^ On the Cloud thing wasn't it once said the cameos in KH are more like reimaginings of those characters? Like tweaked design and backstory to fit them into the KHverse? I never played FF7 to know the real Cloud but from what you and the video says it sounds like Nomura made an entirely new character rather than adapting him. I was never big on Final Fantasy so I dont mind them being altered to be more adjusted to the KH series but I'm not sure if it's really okay to just 180 their characters if that's what he's doing. I could see how that would rub FF fans wrong real fast. My biggest issue with FF in KH is how they've vanished as time goes on. To me they was just as much part of the unique world KH1 introduced. To see them vanish was like chopping off a limb if the series had them to me.
^ Convolution definitely has to be done right, Kh is just a case of it not being so I think.
Honestly I think Nomura himself made only two major mistakes. 1# He put too much behind the scenes. In-gam journals, interviews, f*cking canon concerts, etc. KH1 had a simple and understandable narrative, later games didn't, nothing important was in the game. Worse yet it was convoluted for the sake of "surprise" or just to be so. 2# He made too much important. I know he didn't intend for each title. I dont condone using interviews for lore facts anymore but I do think the development ones paint a picture. In a nutshell; Chain of Memories (OG GBA Ver), fan demand. Days, Nintendo's fault. Coded, Disney's fault. BBS obviously changed drastically from it's early trailers and "unbirths" on the PS2 to it's PSP version later. Then things just went hog freakin wild with browser games, app games, remixes, movies and even a special, but canon, concert event. It just wasn't smart. Extra is fine, if your forced to make outside things, fine but you dont try to tie it all together like it's some knot from a rejected boy scouts contest. Of course that probably ties back into Cosmonauts writing point. Nomura isn't too grand a director I think, nor writer. Just look how well Amano handled Days compared to Nomura. If he had editors or people to keep him in check or fans to give actual criticisms it might be different.
EDIT:
Okay before anyone flips, this isn't a rant. It's a decent video with a decent point. Remember criticism doesn't equal "herr herrr rant vid f*ck this and it's creator who spent hours making it" no. Give it a go, see if you agree, be mature. Enjoy...I hope. :D
That in of itself is a bad things since it's kinda relied on nostalgia and repetition even though so little is like the KH1 nostalgia. Of course that's for fans old enough to have started with KH1 that are still around I think. Many fans today seem to be more new coming in with Days or others. It was easily the best handheld, heck yeah! :'D Probably the only one I liked as much was the OG gba Chain of Memories from 2004.
Choosing a more unique plot than KH1's Journal would've been better probably but since each journal world didn't really follow the original KH1 world plots I didn't mind. Some themes were repeated but thanks to the bugs in the system nothing was a copy of KH1's run entirely. I do think the "inside Riku" world was a bit much myself though. It seemed to stretch the story longer than it needed to be. The only reason nothing new was added is because Nomura limited the game from the get go. He chose to use KH1's journal when he could've done a number of things. They could've at least had the KH1 Ansem Reports digitized with it so we could see something akin to what you listed. I honestly think if most of the handhelds were more akin to Coded in it's "not necessary but fun anyway" approach that the series might be faring better. When the director makes even special concert events canon ya know you have a problem with story focus.
Can I just say this sites ability to paste tumblr blogs is freakin cool!? I dont have to worry about editing or nothing! Granted there's some parts I should probably edit in this but I wanna see an opinion so meh.
Thanks :D Dude due dude...is that a Land Before Time avatar? I both love it but feel my age.
Since the reblog of this is what brought me here seems fitting to post it....to me anyway. >3>
*mesmerized by sig* Wait what?!
Lots of threads are dated 2015 so I'm unsure what I can bump or not. So I'll just start one. I made this after watching the Back Cover movie.
Seems to be a while back but I didn't notice due to school. I went through tumblr activity and found it. It gives a bright spot to a school week~ ;w; Hi! I looked over them, seem similar to most of what I've seen on other places. Dats you!? :o HI! It's nice to see someone who'll read my long sh*t haha ;w; It's not my fave character but his expression is one I keep a lot. haha I dont really have a fave. I like Blakes parents more than Blake though. lol So I'd tie Qrow, Blakes parents, Ruby and Nora. I'd rank everyone else as okay or good.
I rather liked it being slower or building up. I'd rather have a long term build up or character development so long as it's pay off is good. So to that end I liked it, I loved the grimm boss as well. It was a very menacing design. I liked explanation as well like the lore. So long as most of it remains legends anyway. Not everything needs to be shown or detailed.
Too many to list but some of my recent ones were Shantae Half Genie Hero and Xenoverse 2.
