That simplicity and surprise of quality is what got KH going really. I know some like the convolution later but I think it's apparent it's did more damage than good since it's a common complaint of the series now.
So basically I just wanted to see some opinions on this. KHDDD revealed and arguably altered lots of things but there was one thing it stated, nobodies CAN GAIN hearts. They can literally get what they wanted in KH2 with enough time. What I wanna know is how you feel about this. And don't give me some speech or rant about what the other games insinuated or hinted at for years. We ARE NOT arguing about the validity of this fact. What I'm asking is how you FEEL about it. ---Example--- For instance, to me, it felt a bit....hmmm I dunno. I think every story has things it should confirm and others it should leave to wonder. In this light I feel this was an aspect to leave to the imagination. Kh2's plot already feels like "What was the point?" since several villains are back and now more important as humans than they was as literal heartless monsters. One of the best aspects of the series, to me, was the question this raised. Like the Roxas having a heart or not debates of old and so on. The ambiguity of the nobodies and their nature is what gave them their characteristic. So to me this kinda feels like devaluing them more. Not only was they pointless as villains when nobodies but now the striving force of every nobody, even the minor ones, is moot since they can get it just by acting as normal people would. They have no reason to be enemies basically.
Personally I'm glad it's finally dead. It had gone to sh*t long, long ago and keeping it around just felt like kicking a dead horse. I do think it had potential and I often wonder what brought it down. This is probably the best I've found to a decent answer:
I've never heard that perspective before. That would've also been a good way to go. :o
I'm new but hi.
Ah I think I remember that one! :D I haven't sen a Land Before Time movie in nearly 20yrs but I can remember bits of the first four.
Aw crap. I thought it was 4. It's the movie where they go to that island-? No wait the island is when Chopper comes back...hmm..
The customization was pretty neat. It irks me to no end when a game has costumes or accessories that won't show up in-scene but this game was meant to be a short Kh3 teaser so I can understand the choice. I also found the list a bit annoying. It kinda confused me at times but I got a surprising number of them. I'm no completionist so I have no drive to finish the list (like the leveling) but I did like the extra to do list. #MakeTheCrossStitchSleevesHerOutfitNomura
Every Kingdom Hearts game has shortcuts. KH1, KH2 and 0.2 have a shortcut menu set to L1 I think. You can use magic much quicker. Re:CoM has a shortcut which takes you to the top of your deck BBS has a similar shortcut to Re:CoM The original DDD had the same shortcut of BBS but it seems it was taken out in the 2.8 version which I assume is due to the shift controls I can't remember if ReCoded had one or not but since all the deck command systems are based on the card system of CoM I'd assume it does Just explore your help or tutorial tabs or even just play with buttons or explore the start menu, you'll find something eventually.
People on here have been rather nice and responsive to my junk so I wanted to share my last theory. I used to do theories a lot but as the series has went on and got more convoluted, patchworked and so on I've lost the drive to bother. This was and is the last one I made since I felt most if any other things were talked to death or exhausted. It's quite long so if your bored give it a go, hope you like it. :) Spoiler: Long theory Spoiler: Extra stuff added since I played 0.2 It’s just a small thing but Aqua -somehow- talks to Terra while wandering the Dark Realm. Granted we know that Xehanort is trying to use the situation to find Ven ANNNDDD granted we don’t know which version of Xehanort it really is since Terra mentions she only sees him how she wishes too- BUT!!! The fact remains that while one or more Xehanorts, who have Terra bits mixed in, are running around the worlds at this moment. I.e, this means that this is more in-game proof of Terra being in multiple places. Some version is with the Lingering Will armor, part of him is in at least two to three Xehanrots and then we have this version here talking to her in hell The Dark Realm.
Cards? Thought you was referring to CoM for a minute. If you mean the command menu, just set cure to a shortcut. Making sure you dont get killed is an issue in every game. Unless you have leaf bracer. I'm not sure if 0.2 had a leaf bracer ability now that I think about it...
After a slow go thanks to prioritizing school I finally got to where I can put a final thought on KHDDD and 0.2 Figured I'd share. Looking back I dont really have any entries on 2.8 that I feel I'll play again. 0.2 was beautiful, the Master of Masters in BC amusing, but there isn't really anything there to make me wanna go back. How was everyone's final thoughts on it?
We all overlooked them I think. xD I honestly haven't seen them listed in a long time, these are what I remember from the early/mid 2000s. There was another KH2 hidden thing but due to it's pervy nature I wasn't sure if I should post it or not despite how hilarious it is. #wisheshehadthoughtofnaminghimselfBleignow
That is a great way to view it! o-0 It's actually kind of beautiful in a way. I'm gonna save this is you dont mind. :D
Which movie? 4?
Given how little development any character gets in the series it's hard to rank them in my opinion. Yes Sora is mostly the same since KH1. At most, in recent years they seem to be over selling his simple nature which is causing him to seem and border on sheer stupidity since KH2. KHDDD was worse than others in that regard but I think it's more of the writers themselves being lazy than it a step backwards. They're over emphasizing one aspect of Sora when Kh1 had him more normal I guess. Riku definitely felt full circle in DDD. However by this point his whole mopey attitude had honestly worn thin somehow. I did like his arc getting some resolution though. To me, Riku has been practically the only character to get a growth arc over the entire series so naturally I was glad to see it continue since he's my only exposure to such development. (this is me not counting single game growths such as Replica Riku's entire CoM arc) Lea/Axel....ehhhhhhh I'm sorry but his entire existence past CoM or the start of KH2 has felt fanserviced. I especially was irk'd by his keyblade. It was just too forced. (however it isn't as bad as Kairi being a freakin accident) (apparently they're too lazy to even give excuses for her shoehorned keyblade) By far, if I had to pick one, the worst character that came out of KHDDD's events was Xehanort. I...I just can't put into words how bad it was to me. BBS already did a really stupid writing choice by making the heroes overly stupid just for the sake of making Xehanort seem brilliant or so that his plans would fall into place. KHDDD took this and continued to RUN with it which I absolutely did not like to see. His manipulations, while horribly written, were still somewhat believable in BBS. KHDDD however threw him into a Sosuke Aizen level of BS for me. He claimed everything as "his doing" and then proceeded to preach about destiny or how everything leading up to that moment he returned in KHDDD as planned. That is a horrible way to write a villain. It's a fantasy series of disney magic and final fantasy hair styles and I'm sitting here and can't even consider the main villains plans believable, even within this universes rules, or compelling. It also greatly devalued Ansem and Xemnas as their own personalities or the games of KH1&2 as a whole. First nobodies came back as people then Xehanort says everything up till now was a facade. That's spitting in the face of things I loved in my early teenage years for me. It's cheapening the events of the past to build up the current plot and villain even though the villain has somehow been the same the entire time. I just did not like this. I didn't care for him before but with DDD my view of Xehanort shifted to very negative. He's not an interesting villain, he's not even "meh", he's just horribly contrived for me and it's ruined what little hope I had left for the story to be honest. Right now I'm just waiting for KH3 to see how a 15yr aspect of my life resolves. And no, I dont say this because it was the "old Xehanort". Regardless of which version came back, if this was the route they took, I'd still be as dissatisfied with the result. Xehanort devalued himself and things of the series I still somewhat liked at the end of DDD.
I...uh honestly I've heard this song for 15yrs now. I could vote KH1 as my favorite but that's because it doesn't really feel different to me over the years. Remixed yes, KH2 had Sanctuary sure, but it's just been the same song for me.
Hmm fair :3 So you place them in a second tier kind of canon?
Anyone remember these? Kh2 was fun for small things such as "Kairi's Pantsu" or Bleig. lol It still makes me laugh a little that 2.5 only fixed the Kairi one- then again that would be the first one to edit I guess... Anyone else got any KH2 missteps they noticed? :)
It's funny you mention the forgetting rule. I replied to a post recently on that subject. Tdlr ver, I think it's more of a semantic. It's not that time is entirely immovable but rather it's due to the nature of the paradox Xehanort created that it became that way. I.e, he can't change time because the act of his time traveling caused it. That means it's only concrete for him because he caused it to begin with. I mean if you think about it realistically, logically or in any sense, the very nature of the memories being "etched" to "guide" the younger Xehanort IS changing history. Meaning he's actions are contradicting his words. But since the paradox he created hinges on him time traveling it makes it locked because it's a loop he's creating. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Longer explanation vvvv (for those who prefer longer elaboration)
