>implying video game music isn't niche quality of music aside, it's not popular. and while popularity doesn't dictate longevity, he's not part of a scene that's wider than a certain spectrum of fans. his music is only really popular with people who play video games AND enjoy listening to game OSTs. very rarely are you going to have someone who doesn't play, sit down and enjoy an OST. and not all gamers are going to sit down and enjoy the music outside of the game. i appreciate music in a game, but i hate listening to it out of context. he won't be remembered for centuries because it's niche music.
