Before giving up, I suggest starting up Days and checking the Chapters, to see if they are all completed (I think they should be highlighted in blue). Maybe you quit out of the credits before they completed, but still got the trophy, or maybe it didn't auto-save for some reason.
Great video. I also caught the sparkles at the beginning of the trailer and reached the same conclusion. I didn't see the other times they appeared though. Looks like they're taking a page out of the Thievius Raccoonus :p It looks like flow motion might be used in the form of a spell. In Twilight Town, Sora casts blizzard on the ground to slide across it. If so, I think that's a good way to limit it, so it's not overpowered. That secret video was confirmed to be fake. The guy who posted it felt bad, and released a video showing how he made it. Good catch on Sora turning his head, I didn't notice that. Other than looking cool, it could potentially be a way of warning you of incoming attacks from off-screen. I'm inclined to believe that it is in fact the Land of Departure in that scene. It has very similar architecture and motifs, especially the blue and gold on the windowsill. Gonna go out on a limb about that floating green crystal, but here's a theory. Spoiler: Birth by Sleep We know that Land of Departure transforms into Castle Oblivion. Maybe that green crystal is the untransformed version of the crystal ball in the Organization's meeting room (in the upper floors). We never got an explanation for what that is exactly.
It's definitely possible. Try beating Marluxia again in the same file and saving after the credits. There should be two chests in each room.
There should be two treasure chests in each room once you clear the game. You don't see the second ones at all? Are you loading your cleared save file or just starting a new game? Just to be clear, it has to be in that completed file.
Ansem's model is the same because they actually didn't re-render any of the cutscenes in ReCoM (except for the first one inside the castle). It's obvious if you look at Sora's pixelated glove texture. But yeah, it's annoying. And you reminded me of the artifacting issues in some ReCoM scenes. Gonna add those.
Yeah, the vegetable one was one of the hardest. It took me probably 45 minutes to get the rhythm down. Tigger's memory game is potentially really annoying, but thankfully you can pause it so you can write down all of the buttons for each turn. After spending a lot of time on the others, I didn't want to even try doing it legitimately. The one that gave me the most trouble though was the KH2 side-scroller where you save Piglet and collect honey. Spent way too long on it. Got to where I could do it almost flawlessly but still couldn't quite get enough points by the end. Then read that if you just positioned yourself correctly near the end, you can get more than enough. So it's trivial if you know that placement, but otherwise it's virtually impossible. Really infuriating.
SPOILERS WILL FOLLOW. Creating this thread for public reference, and on the off-chance that there might be a patch or future re-releases of these games. To preface, I don't think the HD versions are bad. In fact, they're my favorite versions of the games to date. But they aren't without their problems. Following is a comprehensive list of everything that's (negatively) different from the original games, or somewhat lacking in the PS3 port, ranging from tiny nitpicks to progression blockers. I wouldn't expect all of them to be fixed, but I figured it was best to share all information anyway. Anything I missed you can post below for me to add. Bugs: ~ Red Trinity outside Oogie's Manor in Halloween Town. If you don't get this Trinity before sealing Halloween Town, it will be inaccessible (still visible, but no command appears), unless the Chimera heartless spawns, in which case you can trigger it after defeating the heartless. If you do get the Trinity before sealing the keyhole, it may appear again afterwards, totally inaccessible, though it still counts as having gotten it in your journal. ~ Floating platform where you fight Darkside Heartless (during Destiny Islands' destruction) has texture glitch along the edge. Clearly displayed in cutscene. During battle, if you angle the camera in certain ways, it will appear fixed, but otherwise has a weird border. ~ Scene where Maleficent awakens Riku's full potential, lights above in the Castle Chapel flicker. The timing and number of flickers is not consistent, but as far as I can tell, it happens every time. ~ Sometimes in the first cutscene in the End of the World, the background music will not play. Minor Gripes: ~ When transitioning between cutscenes and gameplay, the camera will often jolt into place, rather than have the smooth fade of the original. This is the result of the change in aspect ratio from the original game, but could still be fixed with either minor animation or programming tweaks. ~ Occasionally subtitles will take up three full lines, when it used to be limited to two, taking up a large portion of the screen. Minor Gripes: ~ Cutscenes were not re-rendered (except for one or two), and thus models and textures have not been updated during cutscenes. ~ Occasional artifacting/interlacing in certain cutscenes, that was not present in the original. Happens during very fast moments (ex: Lexaeus slams RIku against the ceiling, Riku Replica runs towards Marluxia, etc.) Gameplay Bugs: ~ Game crashes. Can happen during several boss fights (happened for me during The Experiment). ~ Randomly missing "Reversal" reaction command in Final Xemnas fight. Becomes a huge problem for level 1 Critical Mode. Audio Bugs: ~ Sound effects that are played in close succession are skipped. (ex: half of Xigbar's shots during his desperation move). ~ Battle dialog is sometimes quiet or doesn't play at all. Seems partially related to the camera's distance from the character making sound. (most notable in Jafar and Saix fights, present in Zexion, Luxord, Sephiroth, and others). ~ In TWTNW cutscene shortly after Xigbar fight, Xemnas' dialog is out of sync with his lips ("Rejoice and feast on these hearts we offer..."). ~ Cutscene after Armored Xemnas 1, Donald and Goofy's victory laughs aren't heard (right before Mickey says "Gosh, you all did great"). Game Performance: ~ Long load times when going into a drive form or summoning. Sora is invincible during transformation, but enemies can recover/retaliate in the time that it takes to transform. Pause buffering (pausing the game during transformation) is a workaround, but annoying. ~ Long load times when transitioning game areas. Difference when going to adjacent game areas is negligible, but loading is especially long when loading an area from a completely different world (ex: absent silhouettes) ~ Temporary freezing at the start of certain boss fights, or when enemies spawn in at certain locations. (Larxene AS, Cerberus, top of Ruin and Creation's Passage, parts of Timeless River, etc.) [English versions only] Mistakes: ~ In the cutscene before Axel fight 2, the camera goes through the flames, causing a white flash. Aspect Ratio Mistakes: Some game assets were not properly recreated to match the new 16:9 aspect ratio. The difference is not huge, but there will be small gaps on either side of the screen, where you can see the layer behind it. ~ In battle: Zexion fight, white flash after Dispell reaction command. Xigbar fight, some of the static effects when reflecting his sniper rifle shots back at him. ~ In cutscenes: Roxas Day 4 - static when falling off station tower. Scene before Armored Xemnas 2 fight, as screen is wiped during arena change. Aspect Ratio/Animation Quirks: In some scenes, characters going on or off screen have weird animation snaps, or might overstay their welcome. This is a result of the widened field of view. Most notably: In new FM scene with Axel, Xaldin, and Xemnas. Xemnas jolts from one pose to another as the camera pans over to him. As heartless step out of frame when Cloud and Sephiroth first meet in the game, one of the heartless is still visible, even though they all should have left. Game Performance: ~ Slight frame rate drops during both cutscenes and gameplay. Does not typically hinder gameplay, but is annoying. ~ Long load times for D-Links. Gameplay pauses during this, so not a huge problem, but once again, annoying. (To give credit where it's due, all other gameplay loading, especially area transitions, are surprisingly short). Mistakes: ~ Ventus' heart station in the introduction is not the correct one. It displays the Land of Departure emblem, as well as the Wayfinders, which Ven should not know about. They mistakenly used the same heart station seen at the very end of his story. ~ In the secret ending, Aqua has her old PSP model and textures. Everyone else's have been updated for this scene, except for hers. Possibly related to unforeseen problems, with the tears that run down her cheeks having to be redone for the new model? ~ In the Keyblade Graveyard cutscene, the dust particles on the torrent of keyblades Xehanort summoned are missing. ~ In Aqua's final fight with Xehanort, all the gold particles are missing from the area where you can use Dual Limit with Terra (which Xehanort's guardian transports you to). Other Gripes: ~ The skybox in the Castle of Dreams' Palace Courtyard is a solid blue color, with no other shades. Original version had stars and a gradient. Can be a little painful to look at. _______________________________________________________________________________ Here's a great video by Bizkit047 discussing the major issues with KH2FM on PS3. I thought it was worth plugging, because there's a better chance that someone who matters stumbles upon the video over my ramblings.
Especially because we all know it's happening. It's the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
There's been some discussion about Young Eraqus being voiced by Drake Bell. Diskin said he knows who it was, but wasn't sure if he could say. When asked about Bell, he was playfully hinting that it could be, but wouldn't confirm. It sounds quite a bit like Drake Bell, and he's done voice acting for Disney before (Spiderman animated series). So it sounds pretty likely. Though no one seems to have asked him about it. I would, but I don't have Twitter...
Yeah, I could see that being a problem. I mean, you could use more limits or something, but it doesn't seem worth it.
Maybe, but I get the feeling he's just being deceptive there. My favorite thing about Young Xehanort is his very subtle smirk, suggesting that he's hiding something sinister behind the calm. Glad they were able to translate it over into the new render style.
Really cool detail at 1:18, how the grass gets twisted up by the wind spell.
I had a feeling we'd get that teased Xehanort/Eraqus scene in English, with full animation. But did not expect them to show that much gameplay. Some of the movement looked a little slide-y and weird, but they have time to fix it. Still not really a fan of the ride/attraction stuff, but what can you do? Otherwise looks great.
Absolutely, it's one of the fastest ways to get rid of clones.
From what speedrunners say, it's essentially random what direction Sora throws the clones, which makes it hard to get him to throw it where you want. If you're okay with it, you could also use Trinity Limit. Even though the three commands leading up to the final don't usually deal any damage, they can destroy Demyx's water clones. It's kind of like the allies attacking.
Square's troll-game is on point. Tormenting people with Chrono Trigger music. Fun video regardless
I like it. Not a huge fan of the orange sidebar, but it'll probably grow on me. Design is simple but classy. Also like the default text better. I...
My prediction is that we'll get an announcement for international release of Unchained X, and maybe a micro teaser for KHIII. My hope is that we get Kingdom Hearts HD Collection for PS4, along with DDD HD. The post from SE France seemed to hint at the former, but there isn't anything solid to go on. They'll probably be pretty tight-lipped about it. Square seems to have a pretty big E3 planned, so they won't want anything to get out early.
There are other characters that can help you fight in other worlds, but Sora, Donald, and Goofy have always been your actual team. The coliseum is always about testing your individual strength, so adding another variable like a different character would skew the results. There you fight against Pete, Cloud, Tifa, etc. All people from different worlds. For lack of a better phrase, it's an intergalactic competition. If they let Auron fight with you, then why not Aladdin, Jack, or whoever else too? It keeps your party at its most neutral state, so you focus on fighting instead of what the best matchup is. That, and you have to enter ahead of time, so changing your party would probably be against the rules.
For story reasons, having Mickey meet up with Donald and Goofy would make things a little messy. Aside from the brief moment in Twilight Town, they're not supposed to officially meet again until Hollow Bastion, and after that Mickey vanishes again, chasing after Xemnas. So for lack of a better phrase, Mickey comes out of the shadows to help out now and then, and then disappears without anyone knowing he helped. That aside, while Donald and Goofy can certainly fight, Sora is definitely the strongest among them, so if Sora is knocked out, it's reasonable to assume that Donald and Goofy would eventually be knocked out too. Gameplay-wise, Mickey comes to the rescue in an instant, but theoretically, time could have passed in between.
