This puts the political process in Pakistan (which was finally beginning to stabilise) in jeopardy and the January elections my not go ahead now.

On her arrival after her self-imposed exile she survived a double suicide bomb attack in which 130 people were killed. Now it seems she was shot by a gunman who then blew himself up killing 15 people.

    Thoughts? =/

A woman from the UK who travelled to Sudan to teach children was arrested for letting the children call a teddy bear Muhammad. She let the children vote on a name and they chose Muhammad. After several parents of the children complained she was arrested on suspision of blasphemy. She could face imprisonment, 40 lashes or a fine.

Now I think this is just ridiculous. She meant no harm, she said she had always been careful over religious sensitivities and that this is just a simple misunderstanding, and I agree with her. One of the children even said the only reason he wanted that name is because it was the same as his own, and in no way trying to make a mockery of the Muslim Prophet.

    Thoughts?

If it would be possible, banning members from specific areas of the forum. Some people only cause a problem in one area of the site (like posting nothing of use to get their post count up in areas). I am thinking mainly of the Arts and Graphics section where people say something like "Oh that was good. Make more" -___-

Also in the Intelligent Discussion area where people are constantly posting along the same lines. Not contributing to the thread or just riling people up.

This probably isn't even possible, but I thought I'd throw it out there ^^

    Found here.

Finally people can receive international recognition for their gaming ability. As you can imagine the US came first, but a UK entrant won gold for winning the C&C 3 Tiberium Wars contest.

Anyone here thinking of entering in the future?

Link to BBC story with links to other sections relevant to Diana.

Ten years overdue, but finally started. Eleven ordinary people make up the jury in the inquest into Diana's death. They will be going over any and all conspiracy theories that have arisen over the intervening years. I think the saddest picture or at least the one that stirs the most emotion is Diana's last recorded smile :'(.

And this next picture shows the last picture of her alive, albeit the back of her head.

I think it is so sad that one of the most compassionate people of our era was snatched away from us so brutally.

    RIP Diana T_T

10 years after her tragic death and the enquiry is FINALLY under way. But I was wondering what peoples thoughts on the events that took place on the 31st August 1997. There are many conspiracy theories flying around, some even think the Royal Family themselves had her killed. But what do you think?

Is the human race too big for it's own good?

If you think about it, in nature, when a species becomes too numerous it tends to die down again to more normal levels so as to keep the balance. There isn't enough food, a change in climate, a species-specific disease etc. But with humans, our extreme adaptability has meant that we are no longer seriously affected by these.

Could this be the reason why things like Avian Flu and Cancer are so wide-spread, because the population has grown so big we have reached and passed some sort of critical point?

Also, at the social level, have we grown so large in number the concept of society is struggling to keep up? Most people are seen by organisations and governments to be statistics and figures, as there are far too many people to deal with each individual case. This causes major problems in many areas. Does humanity need to spit into smaller and more manageable groups? Or do we need to seriously curb the growth rate of the human species?

I have more but it's late and I'm tired -_____-

I think this is a really good move on the part of the Catholic Church. It shows that the divide between science and religion that many people believe to be there isn't.

The Church trying to modernise it's beliefs could never be a bad thing, could it?

    Memory

Is memory the only place where we truely exist? I mean, if I died and was forgotten I would stop existing. But through the memories of loved ones and physical memories (like a grave, or records) I live on. My achievements and failures will be noted and carried through the ages.

But, when humanity is gone/destroyed/extinct (and yes it's going to happen people, but hopefully not for a while :P) memories will go with us. Well, when I say memories I mean complex long term memories, not the memories of animals. They are too limited to truely remember someone properly.

Basically what I'm saying is, once we're all gone, will there be anyone/anything left to remember us so that we can live on?

At my school it is against the rules for boys to have hair touching the collar..............and they have finally got their comuppins :D.

A boy in the year below me (his name is Darryl x]) was told by his head of year to get his hair cut or he would be suspended. Luckily Darryl's dad is a lawyer and he had with him a document drrawn up by lawyers stating that they would support him in a legal battle (i.e. sueing) against the school if they threaten suspension over his hair.

My question to you, is this a case of sexual prejudice? Boys are not allowed long hair because they are boys, but girls can have long or short hair. Also, many other schools have no such regulation in their policy, so why should our school have it?

Lol, all the teachers have stopped saying things about people's hair for now in case of further legal action :P

    What if......

........someone could prove beyond any doubt that God didn't exist? Would you want to listen? Would anyone listen for that matter? Would you rather live on thinking God existed and happy, but wrong/ignorant, or know the truth?

Also, if you were the person who could prove this would you tell anyone? Would you be willing to shatter the lives of billions across the world just to get a truth out?
