Like PaW said a lot of the times it is Western marketing that beefs up a video game cover in order to appeal to an audience. Japanese covers, from what I've noticed after being around the industry, has a tendency to be more artistic with the covers and even use women a lot more for marketing (but that's obvious). I love seeing females on video game covers and it has nothing to do with me being a "feminist" because I don't classify myself as one. Of course I agree with female rights, etc. etc. but I'm not into what feminists call feminism. It's too politically driven for my taste. For example, seeing BioWare make Femshep more relevant in ME3 made me so happy and the fact that they made her an option as a video game cover was great. I understand the maketing that Sheploo was the go-to Shep because he was based off a real model and Femshep was a designed face from scratch (that turned out like **** in the game btw) but I think it is a good step in the right direction. I'm not all for saying "oh let's change the cover to a female just for the sake of it being female" if it has no relevance to the plot or the characters whatsoever. That's ridiculous and it's pandering. Of course, I think after this whole Bioshock: Infinite thing, I understood the point that a lot of dudes go for the cover and say okay cool let's play this he has a gun and he looking brooding and tough great. Not everyone researches their games like we do. Reverse covers with different options is a good way to include people in the market because not all game companies want to take marketing "risks" like that. They know that having a dude with a gun on the cover works well for them and swaying from that might influence then negatively for whatever reason.
please please continue to speculate, i would hate to kill the suspense
Just letting everyone know that the interview at Gamer Syndrome was a fake btw. EA never confirmed it and the information was given to GS by a fake source. Having said that, 2014-2015 doesn't sound completely out of the realm of possibility. Also there was a recent interview with Mac Walters with IGN and he said that they have not ruled out the possibility to use save games from the previous games in ME4. Start at 6:46.
it's the l'cie tattoo guys come on get your head in the game
ME2 was released in 2010 and ME3 in 2012. Obviously one of the concerns is look where 2 years put us. A rush job with ME3 in order to get the most money possible. Honestly, yeah it sucks that the major characters won't be back, just considering how it was left off makes me cringe. I hope this next DLC with all of the voice work will be better than Omega was...because that was full of bugs and literally just a shooting range. As long as I get more Garrus it's all fine with me. However, I have no doubts that the VAs will do some sort of voice work for ME4. Little cameo characters like random civies on the Citadel, etc. They aren't even advertising ME4 as primarily a RPG, that's the thing. The series has more shooter elements now and that's the way EA likes it and they know this well. The same sort of issue can be applied to 2K games and BioShock. BioShock Infinite was getting a bunch of shit from people about "angry guy holding gun" on the front of their game box, but they made a valid point saying that a lot of people aren't "gamers". They are frat boys/college kids who want to shoot shit with their friends. It's what continues to sell so well that guys skip class to pick up things like Call of Duty, or other shooters so they pick up a box with a soldier or a guy with a gun on the cover and they pretty much know what they are getting right away. When I played ME1 I was so surprised at how RPG it was, I just hope they learn even an inkling from their mistakes and take out some of the crappy auto-dialogue. That's what really irked me.
i'm pretty sure it's general consensus that Yoona is the most popular in Korea because she gets the most CFs and is the most natural looking.
well my christmas lists are always really big, but that's only because i love making lists so i kind of make a combination christmas/2013 things to buy list which should last me a while. i usually end up buying 99% of the things myself anyways but here's a few things off of the list: games ofc (dishonored, sleeping dogs, uncharted i, ii, iii, ssx, ico + shadow of the colossus) cute clothes books (i wanted to read the LotR) gel pens, art supplies, planners, notebooks, etc. makeup from sephora new camera earphones
