"Maybe they weren't mad," Master Midarah tried to assure Thea, "but cautious. The Magic Council didn't see what happened or experience it first hand like you all did. Their job is to make sure everyone follows the laws and rules of the land... And from what I've heard so far, it sounds like a serious crime had been committed in Murgate Village... With a malicious demon and sacrifices to the demon nonetheless... They needed to look at the situation from all angles and make sure everyone was indeed safe from serious harm. But you are right, Thea." Master Midarah smiled a little as she stroked Artemis' head in her arms. "The ones who were trying their best to stop those awful things from happening need an advocate. And what better than the mages who worked along side of them to put a stop to this evil. If you are keen to helping them and being their witness to their good deeds, then I will go with you to speak with the Magic Council. They do owe me a few favors after all..." Master Midarah smiled all-knowingly, looking to Thea and to Zephyr.

Delivery of Cakes- Shawn, Yukyo, Lakoda

"Wh-what?!" The dark mage was thrown off guard to say the least by the tremendous amount of wolves that suddenly came out of no where. He was forced to let go of the wagon with his magic, which caused it to lurch forward. The wolves snarled and snapped at him, taking the sleeve of his jacket and ripping it off.

On his shoulder was a peculiar mark on it which the young mages could catch a glimpse of before Lytton began to try to use his magic against the beasts that were starting to overwhelm him.

Lakoda was grateful Shawn took over the reins for a moment. She joined Yukyo on top of the wagon, seeing that the shadow mage was being taken care of by a pack of wolves that came out of no where. She then noticed the mark and squinted at it a bit before a bird caw caught her attention. She looked up to see the humanoid bird was still trying to send egg attacks their way. "I had enough as well... Cover your ears!" she warned Yukyo. She then took in a deep breath while making a purple magic circle in front of her, and then dropped into a stance. She opened her mouth wide, and the loudest scream could be heard through the magic circle. Squiggled music notes could be seen erupting from it as the eggs coming towards them broke apart and the powerful soundwave was heading towards the bird.

The bird was caught off guard by the sudden, bold attack. The sound waves reached him, causing him to become disoriented and start crashing down. He landed in the bushes with a heavy thud, rendering him completely unconscious.

The speedy mage seemed to come out of no where and jumped up from the ground. He was trying to land a powerful punch on either Lakoda or Yukyo, but Lakoda wasn't having it. Instead, Lakoda turned around in a split second and snapped her fingers, sending another powerful wave at Reuben and causing him to crash into a tree.

"There goes the third," Lakoda said as she lowered her hand while watching the sound mage fall to the ground in an unconscious heap. "Go Shawn! Now's our chance to get away!"

Village in Peril- Conrad, Everette, Samuel
    [IMG]
The door opened, and the chief answered. Relief immediately fell on the man's countenance as he opened the door wider. "You've done it then. You made an antidote." The chief had received word when the mages returned back to the village, only to hear that the one named Conrad was affected by the poison. Their were dark circles under his eyes indicating he had stayed up most of the night, and the rash had spread to his cheeks and down to his hands. "Renza's resting... It was a little shaky through the night, but she is strong." The chief went over to a door frame blocked off by a simple curtain, and moved it aside.

There laid Renza, tucked in blankets and with a cloth on her head to keep any fevers at bay. The vibrant color of life she had when the boys first arrived to the village was now a pasty, sickly white. Her breathing was ragged, but she was alive. "Thanks to you and your friends, she wouldn't have made it without you," the chief said quietly while moving out of the way of the door frame to let Conrad in.

Samuel looked over at Conrad when he placed a hand on his shoulder and gave a tired grin. "I couldn't have done it without you by my side." One by one, the villagers were flocking to them and taking the antidotes from them, giving the two young men a hug, a kiss on the cheek, or a firm pat on the back of thanks as they collected what they needed. It made their job easier they didn't have to go far to hand these out. After only a few villagers came in to get what they needed of the cure, Samuel let out a loud yawn and sat down heavily on a bench. "I... need a long nap...." He looked sleepily at Everette and fiddled with his glasses. "You look like you need one too..."

"No need," Master Midarah said as she entered the healing room. "I was on my way here anyways..." She placed her hands in her oversize sleeves and then sat on the edge on Thea's bed. Artimis was snuggled in Midarah's arms, keeping quiet since he usually didn't like to talk much. "I felt my ears grow hot, so I figured you two have mentioned my name. So, you wished to speak to me?"

Cera had stabilized Thea's magic as much as possible and so she bowed her head in respect, leaving the three (or four if you were counting the bird) to talk amongst themselves.

Village in Peril- Conrad, Everette, Samuel

Samuel had filled up a few vials and then became worried about Conrad when he said he wasn't feeling good. "You did fall into the river..." Samuel peered closely at Conrad's neck, lowering his glasses to get a better look in the moonlight. "Yeah... you're showing signs the other villagers shown... Let's get you back to the village and get this fixed up. We'll do our investigations after we get everyone on the road to recovery..."

    ~Time Skippage~

Sunrise was just around the corner, and Samuel had put together and antidote. Conrad was the first one to try it. It was a good thing Samuel was an expert chemist and alchemist at this point. There were no ill effects with the batch of antidote. In fact, Conrad would start to clear up the rash and his energy would return to him. After waiting for a painful few hours to make sure it wouldn't backfire, Samuel finally gave the green light to go ahead and start administering the cure.

He handed one of the bottles of antidote to Conrad, and then looked to the chief's house where Renza was resting.
"You wanna give this one to her?" he asked with a small smile. The other villagers were taking the cure to the Town Hall and to houses were loved ones laid sick and afflicted.

The sword driven into its neck was a fatal blow. And with the magic flowing through the sword, the creature was sure to be finally dead. Though the sword was not big enough to behead completely, a good chunk had be roughly cut out. The poison from around the snake seemed to evaporate into thin air in thick steam while the snake landed with a heavy thud on the ledge where Samuel was standing previously, but had retreated back as Conrad told him to after Everette saved his butt. The snake's eyes turned white and lifeless, and it's jaw was agape with it's pearly white fangs glinting in the moonlight.

Samuel etched from the bushes he was hiding behind, feeling completely useless in being able to help his friends. But now that the snake seemed dead, all was right with the world... Hopefully. Samuel was catching his breath, looking up at his comrades. "Everyone is okay, yeah...?" He then looked at the snake fangs and shuddered. "Alright... antidote, coming up." Samuel took some vials out of his jacket that were secured and safe, and moved so he was standing by the head, just by the fangs. The fangs were oozing venom at this point and was dripping downward, which made Samuel's job all the more easier. The mage placed a leather, magic lined glove on his hand and then held up one flask at a time, collecting as much as he could in each vial.

Cera finally removed her hands from Zephyr, curling her fingers into fists to stop them from glowing. “Seems you two have had quite the battle,” she commented as she nodded to the older mage. “You’re free to sit up, but don’t push yourself if you feel faint. As for you...” She turned in the swivel stool back to Thea. She placed a hand on the girl’s cheek and raised an eyebrow. “Mmm, you still have the magic fever,” Cera mused out loud. “Lay down... everything is fine now. You’re safe here.” Cera gently nudged Thea’s shoulder to lay back down while her hand hovered right to the middle of her chest. “Here, I will try to cool your magic streams... We want you to feel one hundred percent again if you’re going to chase Samuel and Everette to play dress-up when they get back.” Cera smiled at Thea and winked, then focused on the healing. Her hand glowed blue this time, and a soothing, cool affect would come over the girl. There was no need to refill her energy reserves now, only to stabilize them. “The Magic Council being involved... seems it was a serious job,” Cera said as she opened one eye, glancing at Zephyr while keeping her hand over Thea.

Master Midarah saw Zephyr go down and quickly moved to grab him. The bunny hopped out of her arms and safely on the ground while Master Midarah swooped in and caught the mage just before he hit the ground. "I got you," Master Midarah said quietly to him. She picked him up and held him as well in her arms. Although she seemed smaller and fragile, she was stronger than she appeared. "I'll take it from here. Go rest, Gavin," she said to the last mage standing. "You deserve it." With that, she took Zephyr and followed after Cera to the Healing Room.

~Time Skippy to About an Hour Later~

Cera had finished taking care of Thea not too long ago. She helped the girl regain her energy through Spiritual Magic, and now it was just a matter of resting and time before she woke up again. Most of the physical wounds had been miraculously healed, so that made her job easier. Thea was laid on a bed, wrapped carefully in a blanket and with a cloth placed on her forehead to keep her temperature leveled just in case.

Cera was now sitting by Zephyr with her hands hovering over his chest as a soft, golden glow encased her hands and wrapped around his frame. She was working through his energy reserves, helping Zephyr to build up his strength once more.
"Both of you have given Master Midarah a heart attack," Cera mumbled under her breath. There were incense that were lit that smelled like flowers, and the window was opened to allow a gentle spring breeze through the room. The sound of birds could be heard outside as well, making this a peaceful, and healing atmosphere. There were even small windchimes that were hung on the window to make it even more relaxing.

Once the group arrived to the Guild Hall, Master Midarah and another young mage was standing there waiting for them at the top of the steps.

Master Midarah was holding her rabbit in her arms, looking on to the tired group with worry. "We received news what happened not too long ago..." She moved down the steps with the other guild mate following closely, examining them all. "I would ask you how you are, but that seems a little redundant. I'm glad you all made it back... I was worried."

The other mage stepped forward towards Zephyr who was holding Thea. Cera had been in the guild for a few years and filled in as a secondary healer when Samuel was off on missions. She was efficient with spiritual magic, which also served as a healing property. She wasn't seen around quite often as Samuel since she was usually sought after in the town for ailments and medical aid. She smiled gently to Zephyr and nodded to Thea. "I'll take her from here," she said in a calming voice. She carefully took the girl into her arms and cradled her close while stroking her hair out of her face. "You burned yourself out again..." Cera tsked with her tongue and then looked to the two boys. "I will see to her first. You two can follow me." She then turned away and walked up the steps, heading to the Healing Room where she could get started on helping Thea restore her energy again and see if there was anything else that needed to be done.

Master Midarah watched Cera go with Thea in her arms and then her focus was back on the two mages that were left. "I want a full report... but after you rest. The message from the Magic Council sounded as if the job ended being more challenging than what it led on to be..."

"That case is unrelated to this one," Lahar said to Gavin. "I have no idea what you're talking about anyways. We are currently on his trail, but there's much to be done here. Such as making sure the rituals do not continue... But I see you already took care of that for us," Lahar gestured to Xilyn's fresh corpse. "Yet we need to evaluate the health of the remaining children and see to it that the destruction does not have a chance to spread further. As I said, everyone must be interrogated. After the Magic Council decides their judgement, we will see if they will be let go."

Izra could see that there was no choice. The mages in the Divine Rose couldn't help her case right now. Though she had nothing to hide regarding the incidents here, she wondered if they would uncover her previous life before becoming an independent mage. And being an independent mage was frowned upon by the Magic Council since they weren't under the laws of the land and the legal guilds. Still, she lowered her head and held out her arms to the guards. "Thank you for trying to help me," she said to the two mages that were conscious. She glanced at Zephyr and smiled a little. "I guess... this is goodbye... Thank you for helping this place and saving Selena..." The magic-nullifying handcuffs were placed heavily on her wrists and then a guard placed a hand on her shoulder, making her follow after Maliel.

"Your work here is done," Lahar said as he looked to the boys. "Though... do be more careful with her in the future," he said, pointing to the unconscious Thea. "Although, no damage has been done to the actual village itself. If you were Fairy Tail, I'm sure that would have happened. At least your Master has her head on straight. After we start our investigation here, we'll see to it that you are paid the Jewels that were offered for your troubles."

The mages in this quest can now wrap everything up here and continue back to the guild. Talk about a possible timeskip to arrive back at the guild no later than 24 hours.

Now that he identified who was in the Divine Rose with Thea and who was not, he came to the conclusion of what needed to be done to uphold the laws and the rules of the land. "The mayor escaped. We captured most of his guards though and we're infiltrating the village as we speak for his followers. And speaking of followers..." He looked to Maliel. He didn't see what happened, but there was a serious crime here and it was best not to leave any stone unturned. "You will be in our custody. You were the mayor's secretary, yes? You worked along side of him."

Izra clenched her fist and stepped forward.
"She didn't do anything wrong! She working against the mayor-!"

"Your point? How can I take your word? You don't work with any legal guilds and could have been in on this plot yourself." He nodded his head to a guard, who moved to Muriel who held her unconscious sister in her arms.

Maliel looked wide eyes at the guard.
"I need to be here to take care of my sister!"

"We will take care of her from here out while this investigation is underway," Lahar said unflinchingly. Selena was moved into the hold of a guard while cuffs were brought out and placed on Maliel's wrists. The older girl's eyes were filled with tears as the guards began to move her away from the group to go with the others that had been working with the mayor. "You'll be coming with us as well," he said, pointing to Izra.

The guards moved forward to place the handcuffs on the mage. Izra took a step back.
"I sent a message out when I discovered what was going on here months ago! You said there was nothing wrong! You turned your backs against this place, and I had to do something!!!"

    Lahar raised an eyebrow.
"We never received any message about this place from an Izra... But we did receive one this morning from a Kyo... He did mention you, and the girl as well. Also someone named Jack... But there has been a serious crime here, and all involved must be arrested and interrogated without question. If you are found innocent, we will let you go. If not, then you will be punished by the law. The mages in Divine Rose can go on their way since they took a job unwittingly knowing what was awaiting here."

The attacks from Everette were in fact distracting, but the mage on his head was being even more annoying and painful. It was now vulnerable in the spot where Conrad had beaten away the spike. Any blade that would plunge through that area know would be a devastating blow. But now it was even more pissed off. Once it shook Conrad off, it reared it's ugly head and went straight for Everette, mouth open and fangs shining.

"SUN AURA!" Samuel was back on another ledge by the river, close behind where Everette was. He had his hands raised up, although shakily, and encased his friend in a protective light shield. The snake suddenly slammed against it, and impacted itself pretty hard. Although with Samuel's lingering strength, the shield broke apart and the snake fell into the water. Samuel collapsed to one knee, panting and holding his chest. He was reaching his limit and wouldn't be able to hold up much longer.

The snake recovered and then waved its head in the air. It opened its mouth and began to spray poisonous water at Conrad, Everette, and Samuel.

The spider legs being cut off was not ideal, but it was doable. Xilyn was preparing for the counterattack from Zephyr when she was suddenly blinded by the wind spell that Gavin had cast. Xilyn cried out, only to feel a searing pain stab through her chest and right into her heart. She gasped as she realized she had been fatally hit and stared into the abyss with her mouth agape. She then placed her hands on the sword, forcing her head up to look at Zephyr in the eye. "You won... this time..." Her shoulders shook, but a smile spread across her lips as blood trickled from the corners of her mouth. "But it's not over... There's a great evil smiling down at your precious guild... And it will pluck everyone off one by one... that much I can promise..." She gasped for air, her grip on the sword loosening. "Their powers, their status, their youth, their vitality are all sought for... You've won this battle, but you have not... won... the war..."

The demon's glowing red eyes suddenly darkened to black, and her body fell limp. Her great fangs retracted, and the spiders that were once so willing to attack were now retreating into the darkness. The ones that were abnormally large were fading away to dust, leaving just splatters of the battle behind; poison puddles, webs, and cocoons of those once alive who had been deceased for quite a while.

Izra stood there, watching the final moments of Xilyn. She looked around to see they weren't being attacked anymore and slumped her shoulders with a heavy sigh.
    "Finally... After all this time..."

There was shouting in the distance, and the sound of foliage being hacked away along with heavy footsteps. The webs were lit on fire by torches, clearing the way. Rune Knights with the Magic Council insignia on their uniforms emerged, pointing their spears at the group as they surrounded them.

A young man in uniform with the Magic Council insignia on his chest stepped out from the group of Rune Knights. "I'm Lahar, head of the IV Custody Enforcement Unit of the Magic Council. Identify yourselves."

Izra could feel the color drain out of her face. She had tried to contact the Magic Council before, but they never replied. Izra looked at the others and then to Lahar.
    "I am Izra..."

    "What guild are you from?"

"I... I'm an independent mage... I'm from no guild."

Lahar's eyes narrowed at the girl.
"I see..." He looked at the others. "And you?"

Maliel was still in the water with Thea.
"She's from the Divine Rose," Maliel called out. "I'm from the Murgate village."

Lahar's gaze landed on Thea and his lips were pulled into a thin line.
"I didn't expect to see her here... how interesting. You're coming with me," he said to Maliel. "Take the girl out of the water... If she's not hot to the touch, put a blanket on her."

Maliel was helped out of the water by a guard while Thea was dragged back on dry land. Maliel then looked to her sister and looked to Lahar and then to Gavin.
"My sister. I need to see her!"

Lahar saw that there was a girl around Thea's age who didn't look well in some sort of air bubble and then glanced to the others.
    "Drop the shield."

Zephyr was fast, yet the adrenaline and what little power she had left from Thea was coursing through Xylin's veins. She blocked one thrust and barely missed the slice, it cutting at her cowl a bit. Two more of her spider legs materialized, trying to impale Zephyr in the shoulders to get him down while spitting a puddle of poison at his face.

Maliel scrambled up to her feet while the others were fighting and moved over to the twelve year old. "Thea!" She saw what had happen, and saw no one else could go to the girl. When she knelt down by her, she could feel the heat radiating from the girl and see the puncture marks from her neck. Maliel wondered if it could be because of the girl's magic taking a toll on her body she was still this hot, but she looked to be in pain and sickly. Maliel reached a hand down to touch her, only to feel the heat grow stronger. She realized she couldn't touch the girl full on and looked around wildly. There was a pool of water not too far away from them in this wretched swamp. Ripping off the hem of her skirt, she ripped it again in two pieces and wrapped it around her hands. Every time a spider got too close, it was hit away by Izra or the wind magic around.

"Okay, Thea, here we go..." Maliel carefully and quickly took Thea by her armpits with her clothed hands and began to drag the girl bit by bit to the shallow pool. Maliel could feel the heat radiating through the cloth and into her hands, but she just gritted her teeth and kept going as fast as she could. Once then got close enough, Maliel pulled Thea into the water and made sure to keep her head up so she wouldn't breathe in the liquid. "That should help cool you down," Maliel spoke gently as she kept her hands close to Thea's head but not so they touched her. She looked over to her sister who was unconscious and white as a ghost. There was nothing she could do right now for her though, not with her in the windshield. The teen's eyes teared up before she looked back down at Thea. She could feel the water go from freezing cold to heating up already. It was a wonder they had such a strong mage in this guild... "You're going to be alright," Maliel soothed as the fight went on around them. "Everything is going to be fine... You were incredibly courageous and brave back there..."

Xilyn shrieked when Thea suddenly burst into flames. The spider demon was forced back, clutching her face as embers burned. "You... WRETCHED CHILD!" With the energy she did consume from the girl, her face was repairing itself. She was about to make her spiders dose the flames around Thea to get back to her when she was suddenly kneed by Zephyr before she had a chance to attack, stumbling to the ground. She pounded her fist on the ground, crying out in frustration. "YOU INTERFERED ENOUGH!" She brought herself up and opened her mouth wide, her fangs glistening in the moonlight. A large wave of deadly, purple poison projected out spreading out and making it nearly impossible to dodge. The poison was steaming from catastrophic black magic that would surely bring harm if one was to come in contact.

Izra was busy with the spiders, playing her piccolo as fast as her fingers could fly on the padded keys. It was then she noticed the danger of one of her comrades and he was heading straight for it. Izra played shrilly, erecting a large shadow wall to intercept the poison. It collided full on, hissing as creating holes in the dark magic and eating it away. The full assault was mostly blocked by Izra's spell, making it so Zephyr could pass mostly unharmed.

This time Aria didn't have to give an explanation of what they were. It was a relief to know that only certain people could see the light within her. But she wished she had the ability to keep it hidden... Or give off the feeling she was different. Maybe then she wouldn't have the Light Chaser's attention. But then again, if she didn't get his attention, she probably would have been lost to the darkness and never seen anyone ever again.

"Glyde's in trouble? Er, not to be rude or question you, but why did you come back for us then instead of him?" Aria asked. But then silence fell in the group and the girl thought it would be best not to question a master... Especially one she didn't know very well. She stayed quiet as they went along the darkened tunnel, with only one little light to follow. The darkness and the enclosed space was starting to give Aria a constricted feeling. Aria took in quiet deep breaths through her nose and out of her mouth to try to calm her racing heart down. We're not trapped.... We can still move... We're going to get out of here. You have a master with you and others. You're not alone... Aria was doing her best not to let those memories invade her mind. Still, she couldn't help but to feel like the walls were closing in around her.

It was then the master paused a moment, which made Aria look up. She heard the faint whistling and the wind as well.
"Finally," Aria mumbled, feeling a sense of hope as she followed after Master Thallasa.

Thea had thrown fire attacks at her, which made the spider demon knock back for a moment before seeing everyone was focused on one another... but not the intial target. Suddenly, Xilyn seemed to move straight up from the ground on an invisible string, disappearing in the treetops. She then landed about ten feet behind Thea, smiling wickedly while raising her hands up towards the vulnerable girl. "Boo..." Her palms opened and then black, thick, thornlike webs shot out, wrapping themselves around Thea's arms to hold her up while the thorn like things dug into her skin. It was the same kind that was holding up Selena just moments ago Xilyn cackled as she began to glow a dark red, causing Thea to glow a dark red as well as her power was beginning to drain out of her and transfer to the demon.

"No..." Izra could see what was happening and summoned her shadows through her music to zoom towards Xilyn to slash at her. But they collided with an invisible shield that glowed yellow for a moment on impact. No matter what attacks were thrown at her, there was now a shield of sort to protect the demon.

"AHAHAHA! Finally... after all these years... I have a child mage of my very own to give me ultimate POWER!" Xylin's eyes were glowing now and deadly fangs protruded out of her mouth. More spiderlings began to rain down on the group, trying to land on them and ensare them with spiderwebs.
