All you have to do is post the lines you want, record them, and send them to me. This was mentioned briefly in the suggestion thread, but I ask that you guys find another picture to use. High quality anime pictures can be found here: zerochan.net It doesn't have to be anime, it can be anything. It just has to be HIGH quality, and LARGE enough for me to work with. Not giant. But a nice size. Bigger than our avatars. I need a picture for future ones. Once you turn in a suitable picture, you'll never have to again unless you want to for future chorus stuff. Anyways. There are no auditions, no microphone restrictions. It doesn't matter if you think you're an amazing singer, or if your mic is fuzzy, all I ask if that you have fun with it and turn your parts in! For those of you who aren't sure how to go about recording yourself singing it, there are several different programs you can use. Audacity is a free program. I use Reaper, which is also free for evaluation. What I'd like to ask if that you sing along with the instrumental for timing, but your finished track not have the instrumental. For example, if you make two different tracks in a program, and record yourself singing on one track and have the instrumental on another track or playing on youtube or something while you sing your part, when you send it to me I would like to just hear your voice and not the instrumental. You can sing along with the instrumental, and it's okay if the instrumental is heard faintly in your recording, so long as it doesn't overpower you. For those of you who decide to use Reaper, I can show you a detailed tutorial on how to do it. For users familiar with Audacity, I ask that one of you maybe make a tutorial for that, since I don't know how Audacity works. :] Rules? Have fun! For any of you concerned with biased or unfair judging, SOME of my rules and regulations for them specifically can be found in the spoiler tag. Any unfair treatment will result in the forced resignation of said judge, no exceptions. They've all agreed to the below. Spoiler: Judging guidelines Being a judge in itself can sound pretty liberating. But it's really not all fun and games. I have quite a few things to let you guys know, but we'll keep it as simple as possible for now. Obviously, this group was made for a reason. To share information and discuss things together between ourselves. You four are the judges. Keep in mind this makes your opinions influence the other members, and also puts you in a position of responsibility. You are to be f a i r. When you judge others posts, it has nothing to do with who they are, or if you like them, their literacy, if you've seen them before, how often they role play, blah. I mean, when you really judge them, it's unbiased. You are to be h u m b l e. Being in any kind of position of power might boost your ego more so than it may already be boosted. Just make sure you realize we're all just members here. Respect each other. It is important not to discourage anyone, or make them feel like they're unimportant, unworthy, or anything negative. Please use caution and think before you hit 'submit'. You are to be be l a w f u l. The next thing I'll cover are some basic guidelines. Rather, areas you'll actually be judging. [...CONT'D ELSEWHERE] The Challenge Hey guys! For those of you who participated in Season One, this challenge might look a little familiar. As a tradition-in-progress, the first challenge is an Introduction one. Now, this won't completely mimic Season One. In this scenario, both of your characters are in danger. Let's say they're being hunted by a killer. This killer is an NPC in this role play, so they can be killed. Now, it's not an invisible killer. Your killer is hot on your trail, you can even see them right behind you. They have more brawn than you, but perhaps not as much wit? You have no weapons, no powers. You do not have to kill the one hunting you, however it is not a matter of hiding and waiting it out, ending your posts that way. You must come up with a creative way to evade the killer, not including hiding, using both of your characters. Furthermore, in this scenario, every contestant is actually in this role play with you. Do you have to interact with anyone? No, actually that's not allowed. But you must mention the character of three different contestants in your post and their relation to you/bond/enemy-ship, whatever. Why you're being chased it up to you. Let's say the killer looks like a viking. This viking. Remember the challenge is still an introduction. The audience knows nothing about your character, so make sure to introduce them along they way. Introduction Welcome to Role Play Idol! An original role play competition! 'Original' role playing (on KHV) is the acting out of a particular character you create yourself, from scratch. From name and age to bio and personality, you create this character and act them out in a story-like format with other players. So, do you enjoy role playing, competitions, or just writing in general? What about if you need help sharpening your role play skills, want to get back into it (or start it), or want to meet and interact with new people or role players? This competition may be for you! We're back for another fun Season. Hopefully this one will be more organized. ;D For those of you who competed or judged last time, take a look here to suggest some things to help this one run smoother! Uh, sure. But what is it? This will be an OC (original character) competition, meaning that each contestant will have one original character to create and compete with throughout. There will be a different 'season' each month, but this is for season two. If you sign up for season two, you do not have to compete in season three or onwards. The competition will last however long it lasts, at this point, lol. There will be several different challenges and themes, and this will work in an 'American Idol' style. There will be four judges. You can not compete and be a judge at the same time, but no matter who you are, you can apply to be a judge. There will be no more than 12 contestants a season. At the end of each challenge, the panel of judges will give their critiques to each member on their performance, and there will be a vote off period. Contestants and judges will be able to vote for their favorites, with no voting for themselves of course. The prize will of course be being crowned KHV's Role Play Idol for season two, and you also receive a pin! Okay, so I can just sign up and do whatever I want then? ...No, lol. Here are some guidelines/rules. ♣ There is no voting for yourself and when you vote, you must put a valid reason for why you're voting for who you're voting for in a post. ♣ Please be original. Your character cannot be from another anime, game, etc, unless the challenge causes for them to be. ♣ Your entry OC must be as simplified as possible. That means no powers or anything weird like that. Why? Because some of the challenges might conflict with that. Don't worry, the competition isn't that straight edge. You'll get to play with some powers. ♣ No god-modding. Yes, this still applies. No power playing. ♣ Do not ignore the other contestants. Interact with everyone fairly. ♣ Activity will be important, but you have three days to post between challenges and voting periods. ♣ Try to stay in character. ♣ A judge cannot be a contestant. ♣ You must have two characters. A girl, and a boy. They can be the same person, just gender flipped with different names if you want, but you'll see why this matters later. ♣ Don't bring drama into this. If you're paired up with someone you dislike during a challenge, and/or you get voted out, don't rage. Just deal with it, or try again next time. ♣ You cannot have your friends vote for you. I think I said it before, but people outside of the competition can vote for the contenders, but must provide a valid reason for doing so--like everyone else. If I find out you've asked your buddy to go vote for you and BS some reason, you will be disqualified. It is unfair and dishonest. Same goes for constantly voting for your friends, and for not voting at all. New Rules and Guidelines; If you are a judge this time, you cannot be a judge for season three. However, you can be a judge for season four. I would prefer the judge have MSN, because that's where most of the discussion will be taking place and it's the easiest. Either that or access to Voxli if the majority of the judges don't have MSN. You'll have to write--a lot for each person, twelve in total, and you can't be lazy about it. You must post ON TIME, at least two paragraphs for each and every member, no exceptions UNLESS it's later in the Season and there's really nothing to be said. That's a total of 24 paragraphs required for the first round. This is so that all members get equal feedback and equal footing and chance to improve. If I can't get in touch with you for judging, or you don't get online, or you don't post your critiques, or aren't there for the group discussions without adequate reason and discussion with me, etc, etc, you will be dropped and replaced as a judge with a back-up judge and also be placed on probation for future seasons. Probation is more of a detention period, in this case. Meaning that you also will not have access to becoming a judge until later Seasons when enough time has passed. The reason for this is because it is entirely unfair to me, the other judges and the contestants for you to be inconsistent, or deem the work is too hard for you and just leave, lol. What is this? I wanted to cover this song, but it's too fun to do alone. So after a few of you posted up yourselves singing some karaoke, I thought it'd be fun to maybe start a KHV chorus. Howeverrr, I felt it would be too ambitious to just dive right into that, so how about a test-run? The song is Still Alive from the game Portal. In the event that the chorus became a re-occuring community thing, we'd have polls on which song to preform next (as long as the song had an instrumental). There are no auditions, no microphone restrictions, no slot limits. It doesn't matter if you think you're an amazing singer, or if your mic is fuzzy, all I ask if that you have fun with it and turn your parts in! The Song. For those of you who aren't sure how to go about recording yourself singing it, there are several different programs you can use. Audacity is a free program. I use Reaper. What I'd like to ask if that you sing along with the instrumental for timing, but your finished track not have the instrumental. For example, if you make two different tracks in a program, and record yourself singing on one track and have the instrumental on another track or playing on youtube or something while you sing your part, when you send it to me I would like to just hear your voice and not the instrumental. You can sing along with the instrumental, and it's okay if the instrumental is heard faintly in your recording, so long as it doesn't overpower you. For those of you who decide to use Reaper, I can show you a detailed tutorial on how to do it. Welcome...! Congratulations, Bushy and Chesterfield for making it to the final challenge. You have fought long and hard and managed to reach the very end. I would also like to take this time to thank everyone else who signed up for Season One. It was a very complicated idea and I was worried no one would be interested. It means a lot to me personally that you all gave it a chance. Another thank you to the judges for all of their hard work. Critiquing is not an easy task, especially when there were 12 people to write for the first time and so on. I appreciate how maturely you've all worked with each other despite differences, or levels of friendship, etc. Another thank you to Arch for the idea for this challenge, and a thank you to Chevalier for helping me out with the pin stuff, because making pins is hard. Now the only question that remains is who will be rewarded the very first role play idol pin? I would like to direct your attention to this thread. For any of the past contestants and judges, or anyone simply following the competition, please feel free to suggest things that you think would work better for future Role Play Idols. As Arch put it as he suggested this challenge; sometimes in role plays you have more than one character, and it's inevitable that they'll sometime have to interact with one another. In other words, instances in which you have to role play with yourself. There are a few things that come with this. Most people can do it well, but how well? Keep in mind all of the critiques that you have been given so far throughout this entire challenge, but be true to yourself as well. Also, remember that you will be using both of your characters in this challenge. You will not be interacting with each other, but with yourself. Don't forget distinctions, not only aesthetically but in character. Be true to your character's personalities. Because this is the very last challenge, I give you free reign with your scenario. This gives you unlimited creativity. You have one post each, using both of your characters in whatever way you'd like. If you need further clarification, please message me. [...CONT'D ELSEWHERE] The Challenge This challenge is named 'fighting' but it should probably be called 'not-godmodding', because that's what I'll be most concerned about. You had a danger challenge in which most of you resorted to violence in, but this is a tad bit different. There are four of you left. You will be paired up. But this time, you don't just reply once. You have 10 or less posts to post to wrap up a fight. Which means five posts per person. You can have any weapon you want, and any ONE power you want. Just; Do. Not. Godmod. The initiator starts the fight and the initiator responds. You cannot reject the battle, though you can be reluctant to start it. No one dies. Simply because most role plays wouldn't allow it. As for the scenario? The initiator decides which one of these three you'll be acting out, so pay very close attention to what they say. Scenarios. lolclicheallofthemcliche A) The Initiator is in a band of assassins. They're all super badass and crap, and they've received a request to kill the Receiver. The initiator starts the fight, but then starts to draw back. The receiver is already riled up though and the fight ensues. The initiator attempts to stop the fight without giving their identity away. Why can't the initiator fight them? The reason is up to them. B) The Initiator and the Receiver are sworn enemies. Though they grew up together in the same place, and they may have once been friends, something you decide happened in the past to pit them against each other. The initiator feels betrayed. They're now seeing each other for the first time in forever, and all the initiator wants to do is killkillkill. C) The receiver is on every wanted poster in town and has been for years, charged of slaughtering people, and accused of being a demon of some sort. It's been years since the killing spree this 'demon' went on, and when the initiator--not only being a lover of justice, but also a victim of one of the attacks (insert loved one who was killed here) is sure they've found this murderous demon, they don't hesitate to attack. Is the receiver this murdering beast? That's up to them. The initiator can also decide which character the receiver uses, if they specify such. Sometimes we sit there and ask ourselves wonder and ask ourselves why; why did they have to leave so soon? Why did it have to be so dramatic? Somehow, we knew it was coming but then again we didn’t. But if we knew about it for sure, we probably wouldn’t have been able to stop it from happening. Or then again… could we? So many haunting questions flooded our minds as Natalie’s coffin was lowered in the ground, never to be seen again. Someone said it was her first party she ever been to in her life. Her boyfriend, our friend, Rae could say it was also her last. We were broken in heart, mind, and soul. Some of us took it harder than others, but we stayed together like a family. Our lead singer went and joined the Heavenly Host’s Angel choir while our lead guitarist up and left us to where not even the devil knows where. So, here we are, a band of four with our two teachers (or sensei’s as most like to call them), missing the key elements of what was going to bring us together to be something out there in the rough world. No one’s going to look at our cute family setting and take us to the battlefield where the students of the masters fight for the top. We’re back on ground zero. But… maybe there’s a little silver lining in these dark clouds. Some new kids just moved in, and they heard about us. They want to join us. But no one can ever replace Natalie and Rae. No one. 1. No godmodding (Meaning no auto kill, no super hero stunts like breaking through walls with bare hands, stuff like this. We are normal mortals in this RP.) 2. Updates! Last week was interesting. You all took different approaches to the challenge, but ultimately, it was Dr_Wigglz and Ace Phoenix who were voted off. I'd like to restate as usual that if you are voted off, don't take it personally. This is all for fun. I've put you into pairs again (idk) that are completely randomized to act out this scene. In the end of this another two people will be eliminated because Season 2 needs to start this month sometime. So the challenge is romance. Huzzah! Once again, there will be a receiver and an initiator, and that will all depend on who posts first. The genders are completely randomized as well. (it was just too tempting) So if you get an [f] next to your name, you role play with your female character, vice-versa. I know a lot of you have already thought of bios and relationships for your character, but for the sake of this challenge, drop it if it interferes--or incorporate it into the scene, whatever you'd like. The scenario is once again a very simple and sweet one. What we'll be looking for is emotion. You make us feel something? Awesome. You don't? Eh. In this scenario, as the initiator you will be confessing feelings for a childhood friend. Simple. I will leave the rest up to you. You can make it adorable, intense, passionate (no sex, plz). As the receiver you will be reacting to this love confession. You have the power to turn the scene from whatever it was into something sweet and aww-inspiring, or something absolutely heart-breaking that makes us all want to jump off of a cliff. Romance is not all fluff and happiness. It can be kind of twisted. One thing I see a lot in role plays is as soon as someone confesses feelings, the receiver is all like, OMG I LOVE YOU TOO. |: Like, every time. Or the role players actually plan to have their characters fall in love from the get-go. I say this to let you know that if you decide to be different and reject the person, or not feel the same, you will not be penalized. Romance is not limited to happy, positive feelings. This particular topic has been brought up in the past and now it's being brought up again for debate. Though I am addressing you all as role players specifically (because it's your input I'm looking for), this discussion is not limited to you only. I would like to ask that anyone who responds to this responds to it with an open-mind. The RP Arena has been placed under Fun and Games for quite a bit now because, well, it is fun and can be looked at as rather un-serious to some people. However, to other's, role playing is as serious as writing a story (which posts count for) on KHV, and means a lot to them. An argument has been that role players would reach premium too fast if all role play posts counted and the flip side of that is that people who consider themselves a KHV [role player] and nothing else won't ever reach premium which is just as unfair. A compromise being discussed currently is this; The RP arena would regarded as more than spam, and more as something belonging in the creativity corner/original works (as it is story-telling and CAN be just as intense or more) and posts would count in this section. HOWEVER. Moderation on roleplays would become a lot more strict. I would be enforcing the rules a lot more when it came to literacy and would probably re-write the rules a third time to make sure that posts counted for a REASON. (It wouldn't affect most of the RPers who take it seriously enough to put content into their posts.) For all who did not want to step up their posts, or just do it for fun and don't take it very seriously, there would also be a 'Light Role Play' subsection in which posts DID NOT count and rules would be lax. If a role play was posted outside of this section that was composed of one-liners and no effort, it would be forcibly moved to the 'Light' section. Spoiler: Regarding OLD/EXISTING threads Also, this would take into effect as a fresh start. All of your posts made thus far in this section would not count, unless you contacted me personally and asked me to move your RP OUT of the 'Light' section and into a post-counting one because you feel it was up to par. Hey, guys...Um. I don't want to go on for too long so simply put, I have issues with OCD and depression and recently I've been prescribed anti-depressants. 20mg of Prozac daily. I was told to stick with it for about a month and then make another appointment to see how I'm coping. Some of the side-effects are hitting me pretty bad now and it's only day three. I'm having a hard time with nausea, headaches, loss of appetite and insomnia. I can sit through the nausea, eat when I don't feel like it, and ibuprofen helps with the headaches. But the insomnia is driving me nuts. I'm so tired. The first night I slept, tossed and turned and woke up five hours after I finally fell alseep. I was unable to sleep again for another four hours, and it was the most unrefreshing nap ever. (I took the prozac the night before). So I took it earlier the next day, and I did not sleep last night at all. Not at all. I just laid there in bed. No matter how tired I was, or how still I laid, or how comfortable I got, not a pinch of sleep. Not anything but lying there. So today I took it in the morning. (Still running on zero sleep). Dunno how this is going to turn out but I'm starting to fix my sleeping schedule now... I'm wondering if any of you have insomnia, or trouble sleeping. And what you do to deal with it? Also, if anyone's dealt with anti-depressants before, how it went for them overall? I'm really scared, lol. I've never taken a drug so invasive before, and I dislike it. :c [ Also, this isn't a departure thread or anything but I do want to say that until I feel better, I really...can't seem to find the will to be too active. I don't want to sit at my computer. I want to just collapse on my bed and cry. It's really hard to be up right now, and I don't like this feeling but...I'm going to spend most of my time waiting out these side effects in bed, or with family, and not on the Internet. Updates! Hello, all! So sorry for the delay. I've had some things with Irene to try to sort out. If any of you have similar concerns let me know and we'll figure something out for you. Alright! So last week was very interesting. I'll restate that two people were disqualified, and Fuuka Yamagashi and Shell Bullet are no longer in the competition. Other than that, you all did extremely well last week. You worked well with interaction, and the ones in the bottom; Britishism, Master of Keyblades, Dr_Wigglz and Tummer have been given another chance this week to show us what they've got! [Arch's idea.] But this time, for elimination TWO of you will be voted off. As always, some things on judging are addressed in the spoiler below. Your judges for Season One will now be the mysterious FuzzyBlueLights, the role play veteran Prince, and the tasty Ploo-Hems. For any of you concerned with biased or unfair judging, SOME of my rules and regulations for them specifically can be found in the spoiler tag. Any unfair treatment will result in the forced resignation of said judge, no exceptions. They've all agreed to the below. Spoiler: Judging guidelines Being a judge in itself can sound pretty liberating. But it's really not all fun and games. I have quite a few things to let you guys know, but we'll keep it as simple as possible for now. Obviously, this group was made for a reason. To share information and discuss things together between ourselves. You four are the judges. Keep in mind this makes your opinions influence the other members, and also puts you in a position of responsibility. You are to be f a i r. When you judge others posts, it has nothing to do with who they are, or if you like them, their literacy, if you've seen them before, how often they role play, blah. I mean, when you really judge them, it's unbiased. You are to be h u m b l e. Being in any kind of position of power might boost your ego more so than it may already be boosted. Just make sure you realize we're all just members here. Respect each other. It is important not to discourage anyone, or make them feel like they're unimportant, unworthy, or anything negative. Please use caution and think before you hit 'submit'. You are to be be l a w f u l. The next thing I'll cover are some basic guidelines. Rather, areas you'll actually be judging. [...CONT'D ELSEWHERE] The Challenge This challenge will not be a pairing challenge. After last week, we want to see some more individual character development, and when better to see your true colors but in a dangerous situation? Time to get your adrenaline pumping, guys! I've been throwing a lot of 'fantasy' genre type role plays out at you, so here's another one. But they won't always be so unrealistic. In this challenge, you're in a role play where your character's loved one (lover, family, friend) has been kidnapped by some evil sorcerer guy! LE GASP. The only way to get to them is to finish a series of tasks set up by the sorcerer himself. You are now approaching the very first task. You must slay a deadly, humongous, fire-breathing dragon. Now keep in mind, your task in the role play is to slay it. But your character doesn't have to. Put yourself into your characters shoes. They're inexperienced, but they want to save that special someone. Be as realistic as possible, while keeping your characters personality in mind. Along with this, you may dive right into the fight if that suites the character's personality. You have been given ONE weapon to work with. You may chose this. I'll trust you all not to pick some horrible godmod of a weapon. Not only is this an evaluation of how your character reacts to immediate danger; but we'll be looking at who's the most creative with what they're given, and how they incorporate the danger into their decision and character's monologue. Feel free to think outside of the box. If you need more clarification, please contact me. Rules or restrictions for this Challenge. ♣ You cannot interact with ANYONE else. It's you alone. Not your other character, either. Though they can be who was taken from you. ♣ Remember that this is a competition. Try your best to impress me, and the judges. You're male, pale, have short brown hair and dark eyes. You look beyond average, but that's cool with you so you don't pay much mind. Your first concern is figuring out where the hell you are.
