I've decided after some time of getting used to forum Rpgs, because they are rather new to me, to try to give it a go and run one that will be sort of an adventure with multiple characters from Kingdom Hearts. This will be ran in a sort of adventure, campaign type way where I will be reacting as a GM to give you plot scenarios, bosses to fight etc, in the flavor of the KH games. You will also be able to interact with each other's characters and this plot is meant so that people who have formerly fought against each other may even be brought closer as allies so the Disney characters, FF cameo characters, the Organization etc are all welcome, as well as new Original characters if people wish to bring them in. All I ask is that if you have an Original character, it must come from either a destroyed made up world or that it comes from a KH world already established. Requirements and Guideline: * Please, no Keyblade characters other than the main ones already in existence. No BBS characters. No crossover characters unless from FF or Disney and cleared. No Heartless characters. * If you have a character who is having Darkness, please include why that character is tainted in the history. Not everyone is going to get approved for Darkness characters that are not Nobodies because it just doesn't make much sense. * Let's make sure to use decent grammar and punctuation. No text talk or shortened slang so that all posts are enjoyed and easy to read. * Characters may have relationships but the rating is of course PG-13. This means that kissing is aloud, hugging is fine, some light innuendo is alright. Anything more should be considered a movie 'fade to black' issue. This means nothing beyond this happens and you just declare 'the scene fades to black' and if sexual situations are assumed or not, it's up to the reader, just like in a PG-13 movie. Also, the standards apply whether in straight or gay relationships. I don't separate the standards to be fair to everyone. * Don't make this a fanfic. If you run a canon character (one from the games or somewhere else) please try to keep the character true to self. This does not imply that characters are stuck to act forever as they are in the games. They can mature and change but part of the joy of running an RPG in this area is that people can see the characters and how they cope with new things. Original characters, of course, can act as they choose since they are not from anywhere but a person's own imagination. * If at any time there is a problem with the story or members of the RPG, please feel free to PM me so we avoid arguing too much in the actual RP area. That way the flow remains consistent. Character Sheet for Original Characters Character Name: Age: Homeworld: Description: (character's appearance) History: (a brief history of what the character is like) Abilities: (special abilities the character may have). Character Sheets can be posted here to begin with and when the game starts, we'll move that to PM so that it doesn't disturb game flow. In Abilities, please don't go hog wild and make a character that is super powerful. Keep in mind everything can be harmed. Keep in mind that I work and go to college, so my times to be on are mostly in evenings or late nights (EST) and also, since this is a plot driven game, posts should not be just simple one liners. I don't expect 'Repliku-sized' essays, but just I'd like the grammar and all to be done well and to try to put some Heart into the characters so they aren't just fanboy/fangirl appearances. So if you -really- like a character and feel you can RP that character as if he/she comes from the game, this RP is for you. If you want the character to do things that make others wince, you might want to try an original concept instead so no one feels you are misplaying the character. So, anywhoo, let's move onto the plot scenario! The Plot The game begins after KH2. The worlds have begun to recover from the Heartless though they continue to be a problem on some worlds. However, new symptoms of worlds in peril have begun to emerge with new enemies that have appeared which are gray, have pointy fangs, red eyes, long nails, and are about 4' tall. Resembling ugly short trolls that seem ethereal, and acting like vampires or ghosts at times, they are an oddity. These beings, it is said, can touch people and make them sickly and also without conscience or care. After a long enough time, they may turn into these creatures. The creatures have been named Soulless and just where they come from remains a mystery. They have the ability to phase through objects and can only be harmed by magical weapons or a very strong willpower. They also tend to shun the day light and some have been reported that if exposed to sunlight, they evaporate. Just why they are out and who is behind it is what the plot is about. World Statuses Destiny Islands - Sora, Riku and Kairi have been on their world and have managed to get back into their lives and catch up on missing education. It is now summer break so they are out of school and able to move around and associate with each other and others and relax. Destiny Islands has seemed to be back to normal despite all the havok it went through in KH. Kairi found a bottle with a mysterious message from the King and the three have been stuck on their world waiting for news or a way off their world. The King's message (which is totally made up for this RPG) "To Sora, Riku and Kairi, The Soul is what gives sentience conscience and can make the Heart a battlefield or at serenity. Fighting the Soul is a losing battle. It knows a person inside and out. It is connected to the cycle of life and to the Soul Crystal. All life goes through the Life Stream, which are like veins and arteries of existence and the Soul Crystal is the brain behind it, while Kingdom Hearts is the Heart that holds us and binds us together." The words do not really sound like King Mickey's so this would be a curious factor as to why he sent it to the three young heroes. Radiant Gardens - Radiant Gardens is in a state of disrepair but attempting, with the Restoration Committee and Tron, to put life back on tracks. There is still a Heartless problem there but protecting the people and working on reestablishing a government is of prime importance to these people. It holds much history. Port Royal has instilled martial law against pirates due to crimes being higher than normal and there is a lack of order. Also, mysterious deaths have occurred to both Pirates and Elizabeth's home city. Land of Dragons has grown stronger and is quite stable now that the White Huns have been forced to flee with the defeat of their leader. Atlantica is doing stable with the fall of Ursula and has no real threats but King Triton keeps a monitor on things and has historic knowledge that could be valuable. The World that Never Was had gone quiet but with the Heartless problem still in existence, the Nobodies were sure to continue to be forming and through some mysterious force of magic, some of the Organization members would be returned to the land. What they would do with their 'second chance' at life, remained to be seen. However, they would be one of the first victims assaulted for their Souls. Having no Hearts to fight it off, would claim the existences of quite a few lesser Nobodies so what the higher Nobodies would do would be up to them. The Nobodies who would return would have only this hint that they were brought back to help make things right, but other than that subliminal thought, there would be a mystery as to their return. Other world statuses will be revealed as players choose to come from them or characters head to those worlds to add to mystery and also to not write out too much here. I am putting this in the RPG Extended area in the hopes that it is understood that the RPG will be ran in a sort of story way and all of you will be the main characters that have to contend with the bosses etc. This is the first forum RPG I've tried to run so hopefully it won't turn into disaster. Just please have patience with each other and me and let's see if we can make it work. CURRENT TIME LINE OF EVENTS TWTNW: On the World That Never Was - the Nobodies of the Organization are gathering and awakening as are the lesser Nobodies. Upon first awakening in the Proof of Existence over their gravestones, they found out that thei Castle Naught had been taken over by Maleficent. After fighting quite a few Heartless and intimidating her, she fled the domain. They soon would discover though that this was the least of their problems. They have been imprisoned there and only Demyx seemed to be able to leave when he decided to run off on the other Org members and find Roxas, who isn't there. The others are meeting as they awaken to try to find a way out of their harrowing predicament as it is clear the Nobodies are held there by a force that wants their souls. Meanwhile, a new Nobody created while the Organization was gone is looming about trying to discern his shattered past. His name is to be Toxyn. Twilight Town - Roxas and Namine, as well as Riku Replica are returned to existence at the mansion. Roxas and Riku Replica did not get along at first but Namine helped smooth edges. In a desire to meet the people of his past who don't really know him but he remembers them, Roxas took off to meet Pence, Olette and Hayner. Raxtion, a traveler of worlds with a kind heart, met up with the group. However, before Roxas could leave, DiZ appeared and attempted to fill in the group on the dangers of what may be happening. He apparently was returned to Radiant Gardens and has left to figure out more of what is going on. Currently though, DiZ, Riku Replica and Namine went through to Destiny Islands to enlist the aid of Sora and his friends for an epic mission to stop the force at work that means to obliterate the Nobodies for power. Roxas is in TT still catching up with old friends. Destiny Islands - Sora, Riku and Kairi received a note from King Mickey that was not in his normal speech pattern and deduced he delivered it but the words are some unknown person's which describes things about souls. Demyx showed up and told them he wanted to try to not be how he was and the 3 forgave him. Sombre, a mysterious woman with Darkness, is with them, having heard a voice through a vision that encouraged her to seek out the three. They are being informed now by DiZ and Namine of the grim future for the Nobodies if no one acts and are deciding on their best course of action. As DiZ and the other two were informing the others of what was to transpire, a new being showed up through a Dark Portal. Jack was a citizen of Radiant Gardens that had acquired Darkness from the time past when the world had fallen to the Heartless. Things were getting interesting as he declared he had met a new enemy similar to Nobodies and yet ...not. The mission was soon to come. The question is one that with all the animosity lately pertaining to religions prompts me to be curious as to the minds of students now. Since there are people who are religious and also not religious, following various religious sorts, I have wondered if a World Religions class in school might be something students might want to take in High School were it an actual option. Since in college it is offered and people enjoy it and get a feel of various religions and beliefs, and also philosophy is taught, I figured it would be a good idea. The idea often gets trashed by politicians and others who are very religious because they don't want a class to teach about 'other' religions than the predominant one, but it is in my feelings that teaching people of religions could help them to better understand other groups. There are divisions in Christianity that people instill and even say are bad. This would also help people understand Islam which is widely debated and called a 'terrorist' belief, and it wouldn't hurt to comprehend Hindu or Buddhism, Wiccan etc either. The way it was presented to me in college as I've taken a few courses in it was that people of the actual beliefs even could present material where books were lacking. So, what are your feelings on it as it would be able to present things like Creationism and other topics that are not really belonging elsewhere and lets the students decide? It would also present a history on the religious beliefs around the world and be truthful touching on various topics.
I just read this on CNN and kind of found it to be disturbing. I really do not see at all why Evangelical Protestant Christian leaders like this who are fanatics that twist and pervert the Bible constantly and also run lobbies and act more like corporation heads than religious leaders inspiring people...are saying anyone else who actually knows the Bible is wrong. The point here to me is that Obama is actually right whether people want to overlook the parts in the Bible he mentions or not. Many Christians know after actually -reading- the Bible that some things definitely should not be taken at face value and read like it is the law, especially in this day and age. I can actually dig out the exact quotes that Obama is referring to and there is all sorts of murder, rape, slavery, child murder, and just well...all sorts of rules about what is a 'clean food' and not clean to eat etc. What Obama is saying here is also what the founding fathers of our country were saying too...that the Bible cannot be taken literally and should not be used in government and public policy. They are out of date things done in a time that is much different than our own and written by men of the culture then. Should people think of taking the Bible 'literally' as it is meant for the tiime it was written to be taken? if so, we might as well now put Hitler to shame because we'd be back in the Dark Ages but now with super technology to enforce the extinction of disbelievers, attacks on those who won't do the country's will and thus not God's will, kill in the name of God, put women to be subservient to men and not wear 'men's clothing', tell slaves that they should accept the lives they have because if they don't do what they should they won't go to Heaven, etc. I'm curious as to what the thoughts of others are, whether Christian or not, if you've actually sat and read the Bible and know what I am referring to, what are your thoughts on this?

I'll apologize ahead of time (or behind if you already saw it) for the mess of threads that are being moved etc from the area. This should be cleared out by tomorrow so you have topics here that belong and no, I didn't move everything to the Spam Zone. :) There's a new Tech area that I moved the Tech questions to so that some of them may be answered as I realized many weren't being addressed at all or received little attention. I was talking to another person and he brought up an interesting topic I thought I'd post here to let us discuss it and get some opinions. Often education today has high demands on kids to pay attention and it's a system of sit in class, do homework, get quizzed...then after a while take a big test to make sure you meet standards. Sometime after, you take the tests for the state and even national surveys to be done on school performance and student aptitude. I know when I went to regular school, the classes because of this seemed to drone on and some that could not hold my interest became incredibly dull (kind of like how some people find my essays!) and I just couldn't hold my attention on the material. Once I entered college/uni though, the way classes were taught was incredibly refreshing for a number of them. I was asked my opinion and answers became more intuitive and I had to think more instead of just memorizing things for tests. Yes, there is still a lot of memorization going on but also I just felt that I could be more involved and the classes tend to be smaller than in High School. You can also more easily select what classes you want and have more options available. It also seems that there is a lot less drama in classes as teachers have the right to boot out bullies and trouble makers or demand they shape up or ship out sort of thing, but creativity and the ability to explore more just seems like even trouble maker sorts want to be a part of it because they have less time to goof off. I was wondering on opinions here about how you feel about the school system and how you feel it might be improved to let students feel better about themselves, be a part of the structure and hold kids' interests more. As it stands, I do see problems in the way school is designed and think if curriculum addressed not on just meeting 'standards' for tests but also on interesting kids and encouraging creativity, kids might do a lot better and school wouldn't be such a dread thing. Also, bullying and such could be addressed more because teachers being more interactive with students instead of just droning on, they could deal with it sooner. It might also get teachers to feel better about instructing their subjects too. So...thoughts?

Today, just a few minutes ago, Obama got the required amount of votes to seal his nomination as the Democratic Primary victor. It remains to be seen what he will offer Hillary, if she will be on the ticket as VP or possibly he may offer her some other job that would give her more potential to do things. I think it might be a good idea either way since it appears so many people do like her and she did say she would support the decision today, even if over the last few days she has been rather turbulent and unpredictable. http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/06/03/election.democrats/index.html South Dakota was supposed to be where CNN and others projected by polls was a Hillary state but instead Obama took the lead and the vote at the current tally is he won 11 delegates to her 5 there and this is what gave him what he needed to clinch the vote. Montana is also voting and apparently Obama is favored there.

I thought I'd go ahead and write some fanfic for amusement and see how it turns out. This takes place after KH2 and just will wander since I don't know about KH3 events yet. The evening sun was beginning to set and the sky was full of color. The hues of purples, blues, reds and oranges were simply beautiful to the serene eyes that watched. Riku peered out calmly. His hand rested against the trunk of the Paopu Fruit Tree and he hopped up to sit down, never taking his eyes off the scenery before him of pristine clear waters and myriad colored skies. At one time in his life, he had thought this place boring and yet now he was just content to be back. A rustling sound came up from behind and soon another person would join him in sitting on the large trunk that had ample room. Sora's arms folded behind his head and he gave a smirk. "How did I know I'd find you out here?" Riku smirked sardonically. "Because it's where I normally come to?" He didn't want to give Sora any credit for using his brain today apparently. Sora scratched his chin and gave a nod. "Good point. I thought it was intuition. So, do you think that letter from the King is something we have to worry about right away or do you think we'll get through the school year?" Riku shrugged as he was not sure of the answer. He already did have quite the adventure explaining to his parents where he was over the year, glossing over the information. His parents were very 'realist' sorts and his fantastic adventures were something that in someways might never be accepted. Of course Sora had just gone and told his mom -everything- and he was so elated. Riku wished his parents could have taken the news but at the same time at least they seemed mostly happy he was at least back. "I have no idea. I think that it will become apparent soon enough. I keep...having dreams about it." Sora blinked. He thought he had been the only one. "Dreams? Wow, me too! Kairi has also. We were wondering if they were somehow connected to this all. What do you think Soulless are?" "I'm not sure. I guess they are kind of like another aspect piece of a person but they almost remind me of vampires or something in the dreams. Beings without souls is the best way to put it, I guess. They still have hearts and bodies...just no souls." Riku recalled in his mind the figures that were so very pale gray with long claws, red eyes and they looked pretty humanoid but yet devoid of life. Their screeches of agony pierced his own soul each morning he woke up. Sora pouted as his mind went back to the denizens that crept around, drained people of life and withered them to empty husks...and then these husks would alter the day after to become another one of the Soulless. He always just managed to escape but their mere touch was draining on a level that went beyond just physical. He was thankful that the Keyblade seemed to work against them, but at the same time they seemed as drawn to its power as the Heartless were. "Do you think they are sentient?" A frown was notable from Riku at this point. Sora was really prying for answers that he just did not have. As much as he wished he knew, he could not be certain. He didn't always like to go off gut instinct but at this point, there wasn't so much to lose. "I would wager that to be the case. They aren't like the Nobodies though. I don't think they are as smart as the Organization members were, but they have some intellect in there, along with a heart that seems filled with torment and rage." It was then that Kairi would approach the two and stand before them after making her way around the tree. Her hands went to lock behind her back and she canted her head to the side. "Yes, they are in pain and are angry and feel a need to feed off the life energy of others. We may not have much time now." Kairi's voice was almost cryptic though she tried to not make it so. "We will be leaving here soon." _______________________________________________________________________________________ Somewhere in the Universe. A being with a skull face and tattered robe looked over a cauldron. His horned crown upon his head was just evil looking. Everything about him was. His bony hands moved over the cauldron, clearing out some greenish smoke and his glowing eyes made the malicious grin on his face seem all the more sinister. "So, you want to play with souls" the being announced. "I will find this Life Crystal and your game will be done, but mine will have just begun." Through the cauldron that bubbled, a vision could be seen of a light gray cloaked being with a red gem that clasped it together. The form floated as if it were a ghost, moving through walls and gesturing at people somewhere in a small village that stood no chance. Merely passing them by made the people shriek and wither, their eyes going cold and their bodies turning gray as white orbs of energy rose out of them soaring into the sky. The image panned closer to a group of people, having huddled together in fear. No longer were they timid. In them awoke a hunger to feast on the souls of others and eyes gleamed red as they stood now. They were lesser than their former selves with instincts to react off of pain and a desire to feed on life energy to compensate. The small island in the Caribbean stood no chance. The Horned King had seen a few places attacked in such a manner and the being, whoever it was, seemed to be gathering himself quite a formidable army that would march across worlds to serve him as he gathered the souls he sought for some diabolical purpose. The nature of what happened did not bother or shake the being monitoring this all. It was more the fact it was competition and this would thus have to be contended with before the peril would come to his world. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Well that's the beginning so far. I plan on using some Disney bosses that were not used yet as well as some oldies but goodies and do a darker story here. Hope it is enjoyed so far.

This may not go here but I suppose it's the only place I could think of putting it. I thought I'd bring up something that kind of bugs me about the word Bishonen being used to describe males that look like males just became they may have some feminine qualities about them that make them look more 'handsome' than girlish. A lot of people use this word and it isn't right according to translations of what the word actually means which is to describe 'boys' that have a beauty that transcends sexual boundaries. In other words, a young boy or man that you have trouble discerning if it is male is bishonen. Bidanshi is a term used for men or boys that look like boys and you can easily tell but are handsome. For example, they have muscles, nice features and may have soft facial features but looking at them you can pretty well still tell these men are men. I am not sure why this word is not used more often other than the fact that we westerners don't hear it used nearly as often as Bishonen. So basically I thought I'd start putting the word out there. Why? Because it kind of gets old hearing that some guys in video games or anime are bishonen when clearly by the meaning they are not. It's like calling someone who's metrosexual an appealing androgynous boy. I'm not trying to be biased here but open up a point on the difference since bishonen also often refers to this sort of 'stereotype'. I'll give some examples of people that are often labeled as bishonen but to me should probably be instead labeled as Bidanshi and see if you guys can come up with more to debate on or if you agree or disagree with me. 1. Sephiroth - It has always bugged me that despite the man having long hair, thin eyebrows and such I have never had a problem discerning Sephiroth was male. He has a muscular build and is an adult with a serious look about him that removes the bishonen standard. I'd call him Bidanshi. 2. Kuja - Kuja was a male that is in his 20s but I could honestly not tell he was male until when someone actually said he was. He had HIPS for goodness sake. He would be called Bishonen to me. 3. Riku - Though Riku was 15 and 16 in the KH games, he is clearly male with a muscular physique and tall. Yes, his face is rather gracile and his hair is as it is, but by no means did I ever have trouble discerning him to be male by his muscular physique and demeanor so I'd call him Bidanshi. 4. Dante - Despite some of Dante's feminine facial features, he definitely appears male to me as you can see his chest and all and his clothes are also masculine. I'd call him Bidanshi. 5. Larsa Solidor - In FF XII, this character is a 12 year old that was very hard for me to tell whether he was male or female and is utterly the epitome of what bishonen means. He's a very nice looking kid but what gender he is was seriously up for debate. Bishonen. Of course this is one of those small things that I thought I'd share and get your opinions on because even in rl people use the word bishonen to describe guys that work out and look good etc but take care of themselves. There seems to me to be a big difference between how these characters look and well, I'll shut up now but just had to ask if others ever get bothered by this at all. Maybe others will come up with more characters too that get classed one way but might be actually bidanshi instead.
Alright, a hypothetical question for you all. Now let's say you were one day faced with the dilemma you could choose whether to be blind for the rest of your life or deaf. The reasons for this, I'm not going to try to make up, but I just am interested to see what people would miss more...the ability to see or the ability to hear. If you could also provide reasons, I'd appreciate it.
