That's the one I'm talking about...weird...maybe our dear Larry/Terra will betray Aqua and Ven like Terra betrayed the Titans and like Riku betrayed Sora and Kairi... And yes, Riku means land.
No they haven't announced his full name, and I think that it'll longer than Ven and will probably have nothing to do with the wind.
Yeah I know, it sounds weird to me too...it makes think about DC Comics' Terra...It's too bad, I came to love the name Larry.
It probably comes from the French "vent", which means wind, and since French comes from Latin and Greek...The reason there's no t at the end is probably because it's only a nickname : the full name surely has nothing to do with "vent", but he was nicknamed like that for the play on words.
Actually now it's official (checkout the newspost about the translation of the interview), the ES' name is Terra.
Who knows ? Maybe that's how the adventures of our three knights started, and then led to what we see in the secret ending, Larry having regained his freedom but retaining some darkness in his heart, Aqua having evolved from a helpless damsel in distress into a brave keyblade master, and Ven finally finding out that being rash and light hearted can get you into big trouble...Now swap Larry for Riku, Aqua for Kairi and Ven for Sora : is it that unlikely a situation for those three ?
You should probably make a new topic, because I don't think we're done talking about those questions on Kingdom Hearts.
I hadn't seen that thing about the dual weilding...weird. About the two Kingdom Hearts, one is formed from the hearts of worlds, the other from the hearts of people. The Organization's was apparently an artificial one, created from the hearts that were freed from darkness by the keyblade. The Report said that a heart freed from darkness returns to its homeworld and waits for his body and mind to return, and they do once the nobody to that heart is slain. I suppose that if the nobody has already been slain, the heart will keep on waiting, or maybe will join the natural Kingdom Hearts of people's hearts. That leads to something I never quite understood : the Organization's Kingdom Hearts was a fake. But what about the one Ansem sought ? Was it also an artificial one, made from the hearts of the worlds, or was it a natural Kingdom Hearts, from which all worlds are created ? Is there even a natural Kingdom Hearts, and is there also one for the people's hearts and one for the world's hearts. If I missed the answer to that one in the Secret Report, I'd like someone to let me know.
I'm sorry, I don't see how your analysis of the appearance of all our happy posessors of people's bodies contradicts my theory. Xehanort is BM's heart and mind within ES's body, so it's normal he has the appearance of the ES. It's true, when XH took Riku's body, he was able to switch from Riku's appearance to his (the ES) when he had obtained total control. The reason he and Xehanort don't take BM's appearance is because they don't remember it : Xehanort lost all memories of his time before Radiant Garden. Concerning Riku...when did he exist solely as a heart ?
Ok, about White_Rook's theory... The first paragraph I don't personally agree with, but it's a solid theory. My opinion is that a person is made of a heart, a body and a mind (that includes memories), and I don't think memories could form a whole being. But since Xehanort lost his memories, one could wonder where they went, so it makes sense. As for Ven being Roxas, there I don't agree at all. It's trues Nomura could have tried to throw us off balance when he said all the characters in the secret ending were new, but I don't think he would bluntly lie. In a recent newspost (in which Ven and Aqua were confirmed as names), Xaldin reported that Nomura said there was a connection between Ven and Roxas, but I don't think Ven could even be a part of Roxas, a part of Sora or Roxas himself. The secret ending happened in the past, probably before Xehanort lost his memories and became Ansem's assistant : Roxas did not exist at that time. As for the third part, the girl's name is Aqua, and I'm sorry to say this but your idea of those three different beings united fails to convince me. My opinion is that those three are related to Sora (Ven), Kairi (Aqua) and Riku (Xehanort) by a fate that is bound to repeat itself.
Personnally, about keyblades, I think that you need a heart to use a keyblade. This is why Xemnas did not use a keyblade, since he was a Nobody. On the other hand, Roxas was linked to Sora's heart, which is why he could use Oblivion and Oathkeeper.
That's an idea, but I honestly don't think it's possible. First, like librgkd said, we saw and played Sora's heartless in KH1. It wasn't Ven, it was a Shadow. Second, there is no "Sora's heartless" : what you call "Sora's heartless" is Sora's heart devoured by darkness. If "Sora's heartless" existed as its own being, then Sora would have no heart, and no body or mind either since those form Roxas. Which pretty much means Sora wouldn't have existed between the time he turned into a heartless and the time he merged back with Roxas. I don't know, but he had to exist to kick Ansem's and Marly's asses. Third, Sora did spend some time as a heartless, but he quickly reverted thanks to Kairi. So sorry, but Sora's heartless doesn't exist anymore, since Sora isn't a heartless anymore. Antiform could be a remnant of Sora's time as a heartless, but the only way you could be right would be that a piece of Sora's heart got away while he was a heartless. And that seems highly unlikely.
There is more or less proof, since Sora means sky, Riku means land, and the kanji used for Kairi resembles that for Umi, which means sea (besides, Nami, as in Naminé, Kairi's Nobody, means wave). I don't know if it's meant to relate them to Destiny Islands, but it certainly relates them to one another.
Wasn't Terra the name of the heroin of a Final Fantasy game ?
Tera...I don't know, it doesn't really sound right. I know in Japanese, male names can end with a "a", but it's too reminiscent of dear old Terra to me.
Quite right : Nomura confirmed the names Ven and Aqua, which means Larry's (the ES) name will be related to Earth. But it's kinda hard to figure it out, since Aqua comes from latin and Ven comes from French (btw, note that French for wind is actually vent, so they dropped the t, which I understand, it looks better). So Larry's name will probably come from another latin language, and will be related to Earth, but that's all we have for now. Anyway those names are obviously meant to establish a connection between the knights and the gang from Destiny Islands, so I don't think the fourth element will be represented.
Yes, that pretty much explains how and why our 3 friends have the 3 knights' armors and keyblades. Regarding this, I'd like to say I sort of started a KH fanfiction called Tales of Future Past, which stems from this theory.
Ok, I have some (if not a lot of ideas) for a KH fanfic, but since I am a busy man, I don't know if I'm gonna actually do it. So I call upon the reader's opinion. I'm posting the prologue (which is all that I have written so far), and if there's a positive response I'll write the rest. It takes place directly after KH2 and is my take on KH3. The prologue itself is set near the end of the story. Prologue - Disdaining Fortune Quiet. It was quiet, and nothing else. And that was what made it perfect. Riku didn’t even feel the stained glass under his feet, like he did before…The first time he came here, he was fifteen and he did not understand. And he never understood. But he felt, as he walked from station to station, he felt it. The locked truth. And the key to it. The sheer blade in his heart and the wound it left. The need for adventure, the pain and the fear. He was not like Sora : he did not have his friend’s confidence (it was a confidence born of stupidity, yes, but it was still confidence), and he never did completely make up for his fears. Fear of weakness, fear of loneliness, of darkness, of light…he was strong because he needed to be. But here he found peace, in the deepest place of his heart. Even after all they discovered in the past year, he still trusted the keyblade. Because he knew now that it would only answer to a strong heart : as long as he felt it in his hand, he had nothing to fear. And while he was here, it was something so simple…something so natural. She called out his name. He answered and opened his eyes. There she was, on the pier by his side, looking at him with a spark of worry in his eyes, while he was staring into the evening sky and the endless sea. Of the three of them, Kairi was the one who changed the less over the years, her perfect heart always enduring everything. She was a Princess of the Heart after all, and he did not think darkness could ever hurt her. But she was always worried, about them and about the future, as if she wouldn’t accept this strength of hers. -What were you doing there, Riku ? she asked. -What I do every time I go there, he answered with a faint smile. She smiled back and sat too, looking down at the sand in the shallows. -You won’t find any answers on the Station of Serenity, you know…she said calmly. Riku smiled again : she had probably searched those answers herself. -I know, he replied. But I won’t find any questions either… Kairi gave him a slightly sad glance. He quickly turned to the answer to her worries. -How is he ? -Sleeping, she said with a chuckle. They looked at the beach. Sora was there, lying on the sand, oblivious and snoring. Even with the black cloak he could still look ridiculous : that’s a true hero for you. -And worried, he remarked. Yes, Sora was still innocent (AND stupid), but as it turned out it didn’t completely save him from the dark. And Riku knew from personal experience that you can’t possibly take it lightly. Nevertheless, Sora was putting up a very good façade. For her, of course : it was his courage that reassured her. He woke up suddenly, as if responding to an impulse. With a broad smile he waved at them and hopped up on his feet. As he walked down the pier toward them, his smile slowly faded. -Time to go ? They nodded and Riku made a small gesture. The shadows seemed to gather and created a shape of a door. -After you, he said to them. Sora boldly walked in the Corridor of Darkness and Kairi followed after a short look at the trees. Riku turned back and looked at Destiny Island : it was strange that he should regret to leave it, since he was the one who longed for adventure. But today he was almost afraid of what lied ahead, not regretful of what lied behind. The sun was slowly setting : its dying light was crowning the trees and created fiery ripples on the water. He stepped into the shadows and felt the familiar chill down his spine. For a second he wondered how the others felt the taint from the Dark Realm. Then the sky unfolded, and he gazed upon the endless green meadows. The sun was setting here as well. They stepped on the crossroads, each at the beginning of a different path. The black cloaks felt heavy on their shoulders : the members of the Organization wore them because they traveled in darkness. Riku, Sora and Kairi wore them for the same reason. Of course they still had their hearts, but they knew they were only sleeping : they had dreamed of their hearts awakened, but they had yet to reach their full potential. And now they had to travel in darkness, to face the tests and trials : it was their only hope against the fate that was about to crush them. Sleeping heart or no heart, it would make no difference : they would lose everything if they failed. Kairi was the first to speak. -When shall we three meet again ? In thunder, lightning, or in rain ? Riku smirked. -When the hurly-burly’s done…When the battle’s lost… Sora smiled. -…And won. As one, they drew their blades in three flashes of light. Kairi, her hand trembling so slightly, set the golden Kingdom Chain in the ground, at the center of the crossroads. Sora looked at his silver-bladed sword, and Riku at his Way to the Dawn. They smiled at each other and exchanged their keyblades. And as they set them in the ground, they spoke. -So you can remember the light, said Sora. -And so you can know the dark, said Riku. Kairi made a step toward Sora, a beginning of a gesture and words, but in the end said and did nothing. They had to part, to face the trials alone. To face themselves. Riku looked at the crossroads and he felt as if he was back on the Station of Serenity : the quiet confidence, the deep knowledge of what should and would be done. Maybe that was fate. No…it didn’t seem like he did not have a choice, but like he didn’t know he had a choice. There wasn’t anything to choose, the next thing to do seemed obvious. It was something so natural…something so simple. It was not fate, it was destiny. With a last glance and quiet goodbyes, they parted and walked their path. Kairi took the road to Darkness, Sora took the road to Twilight and Riku took the road to Light. And behind them they left the keyblades. But they would come back for them. For the last battle. For the end. For the war.
To say that a keyblade without a keychain is fake is even more speculative than most theories. The only thing to back it up is that the keyblades of the protagonists all have keychains. But as far as I'm concerned, keeping to the etymology, it's just a key that can be used as a blade. After that, it's only speculation, hopefully we'll learn more with the next game.
Riiiiiiight....And when poor little Larry saw Xehanort standing among the bodies of his family members, the cold-blooded killer said to him... Except there's a problem, Xehanort's eyes are yellow, not red, and I haven't seen any dots in them. All jokes aside, how did you come up with this ? I mean except for the eyes, I don't see anything that could inspire this comparison.
