For the link between Roxas and Ven, see here. About Terra's mastery of the keyblade : he was still able to use it in ways noone would have thought of (turning it into a whip, a bow, a jetbike...and when he curses you so you can't use physical attacks or magic, I think he uses the keyblade to lock those abilities)... And besides, it's possible that keyblades were created not long before the keyblade war : therefore Terra could have known about the keyblade from its creator. After all, it seems the keyblade war has been such a deadly battle that it left no survivors to tell the tale, or at least to pass on the knowledge of the keyblade. That would correspond to RikuNotRikku's theory on Chasers : they would be the people who created keyblades and then used them to fight against or over something.
Ven has a connection to Roxas, that's official : Nomura stated it in an interview. Yellow eyes are a sign of the taint of darkness : Ansem the Wise said in his reports that using the corridors of darkness to much could be dangerous, as it would taint your heart with darkness progressively. That's why he had yellow eyes ; that was also the case for Saix, Xigbar, Xemnas, Xehanort's heartless and probably Riku (hence the blindfold : his eyes couldn't lie because their color showed he had been using the darkness). Terra's eyes turning yellow shows he is about to use the darkness, probably as a weapon of last resort, for a desperate attack against Baldy. Kairi was not a keyblade master, since she wasn't able to summon her keyblade : if she was, the weapon would have appeared in her hand at the start of the battle or when she was in danger, just like Roxas. However, she was able to use a keyblade because her heart is pure and therefore worthy of a keyblade : this also means she has the potential to become a keyblade master, and it can be safely assumed she will become one in KH3. We know Riku's fake keyblade was made from the hearts of the princesses, but I don't think it means the knights' keyblades were fake. After all, we have no true hint to the keyblade's exact nature or to the keychain's : it's very possible a keyblade doesn't need a keychain. I don't know about you, but I think Terra had too much mastery over his weapon for it to be fake : that he was able to change its form rather suggests he had mastered the keyblade completely and perhaps unlocked its true power. But keyblades could very well be made of hearts : after all, their power are linked to hearts, and apparently you can't use a keyblade if you don't have a heart that's worthy of it.
The idea of a third being formed by memories is a very common theory, and it certainly makes sense. However, Ven can't be Sora's "Chaser", or it's highly unlikely : we know from Xigbar's words that the keyblade war happened in the past, before Xehanort arrived in Radiant Garden, and probably before he lost his memories. We also know Xigbar met or saw Aqua, Terra and Ven before. Therefore, Ven existed even before Sora was born, and cannot have been formed from his memories.
It would mean Roxas carried Ven's essence, and that this essence has now returned to Sora. However it's just a theory, and there aren't many elements to back it up.
The idea of remembering a heart is really interesting because it establishes a link between Xemnas and Terra : Xemnas says he can't remember anything except anger and hate, and Terra says all he has left is his hatred for Xehanort. And about Roxas' heart...well either he was linked to Sora's heart, and thanks to that he could use the keyblade and experience emotions, because Sora's heart was not trapped in darkness, or he had a heart of his own, and one should wonder if he managed to create one for himself or if it is the heart of someone else. There was a theory (I don't remember the name of the one who did it) saying that Roxas' heart was actually Ven's heart, which had been put into Sora's body after Ven died, so he could go on existing. When Sora turned into a Heartless, Ven's heart was released along with Kairi's and Sora's, and it went to hide in Roxas' body.
Well since shingo's all about flirting today...See that text about a theory team in RikuNotRikku's sign ? His MP was offering me a membership in that team. So if you call that flirting, good for you, man : you must really enjoy job interviews...kidding. About Riku's Dive into the Heart, it could also have happened way back, even before the beginning of the first game : since he was the keyblade's first chosen one, he probably went to the Station of Serenity before Sora. However, it's also possible he may have had two Dives into the Heart : after all, Roxas had to do it in order to get the keyblade back. Maybe Riku had to do it again so he could get it back, after he was corrupted by darkness. Then again, maybe Roxas never really had a Dive into the Heart (since he has no heart, technically), but just experienced it as a flashback, reliving another of Sora's memories. And about Mansex flirting with Sora, I'd say the "radiance" part refers to Sora and Riku being heroes for light. Finally, about Sora and the door to light, what Riku meant is that the door opened thanks to the power of Sora's heart and the link between his heart and Kairi's.
Well, fate is supposed to be, by nature, unchangeable. But we're not talking general truths here, we're talking about the possible scenario of a Disney video game, so the optimistic hero (that's Sora) will prevail, just like always... Look at KH1 : Ansem says "The heart's true nature is darkness", Sora disagrees, Ansem gets fried by the light from Kingdom Hearts...Optimistic hero 1, Pessimistic villain 0. Look at CoM : Vexen and Marly say "Once you're enslaved by false memories, you're nothing but a puppet", Sora disagrees, the Organization members are toast when Sora listens to his heart, which is the same, false memories or not. Optimistic hero 2, Pessimistic villains 0... Look at KH2 : DiZ says "Nobodies have no emotions and have no right to exist", Xemnas says "Anger and hate are supreme and that's all I remember, so I'm gonna kick your *** and my evil plan will succeed" (gotta love that Mansex), Sora and Roxas disagree...Axel sheds a tear, Roxas and Namine still exist even after merging with their original selves, and Xemnas is beaten by the power of two best friends allied and reunited. Optimistic hero 3, Pessimistic villain 0...(yeah, you can see a pattern being sketched) So let's imagine the next KH game : Baldy says "I have an evil plan that involves the keyblades and Kingdom Hearts, and you're all going to die, because you can't stop me", Terra, Aqua and Ven disagree then the Keyblade War happens. In the end, they fight Baldy, and from the looks of Birth by Sleep, it's not going well for the optimistic heroes...The battle ends in a stalemate, the conclusion is postponed, and every protagonist is put in a dormant state, or something like that. Optimistic hero 3, Pessimistic villain 0, or 1. (There I assume ('cause that's my theory) Xehanort was originally Baldy, that he possessed Terra's body, lost his memories. Terra, Aqua and Ven are either dead or unable to act.) Now let's imagine KH3 : Xehanort (wether because Xemnas wasn't completely destroyed or because Xehanort's heartless manages to come back, maybe from Riku's heart) finally retrieves his memories, and says "Now I can resume my evil plan, and like before noone can stop me", Sora and gang disagree. Pessimistic villain develops and says "Others have tried before you, and they failed, you can't win, history's repeating itself, it's fate). Sora and gang disagree again (gee, those heroes really don't like compromise...). Pessimistic villain gets toasted because Optimistic hero finds a way to change fate (power of his heart, of his friends, device, cheating by doing something differently from the previous time...who knows). In the end, Optimistic hero 4, Pessimistic villain 0 (or 1). So this whole idea of history repeating itself and inescapable fate seems to fit the whole scheme of the hero against all odds and adversity, but in the end wins, since he's a hero. The theme of fate also allows a link to the past (yeah I know, imagine Zelda with a keyblade...) and to the origins : the keyblade's nature can be explained, as well as how the universe began, the history of Xehanort, predecessors for Sora, Riku and Kairi (heroic succession is a very good theme)...how it all began.
I don't believe the change in fate will come from a device or something : given the genre of the series, I'd say it would come from the actions and choices of the protagonists, although I can't say exactly how, since I don't know how the keyblade war happened in the first place. I myself have thought about this a lot ; in fact I have even tried to make a fanfic out of it (as shown in my sig), but apparently noone read it...
If we take the idea of history repeating itself, yes, when Xehanort recovers his memories, it will happen exactly as it did before with Baldy. Or at least that's the fate that is written : among the themes and questions KH3 (and I'm really talking about KH3, the next chapter in Sora's history), there could be "Can fate be changed ?". In other words, it could be about how Riku, Kairi and Sora try to change their fate, by not repeating the errors of their predecessors. Of course that's just a wild guess, but given that the secret ending talks about fate, that Xehanort's memories seem linked to the past, to the keyblade war, and that there is an obvious difference between Sunset Horizons and Birth by Sleep (the keyblades they picked up)...it's just my idea of the future of the KH series : the next game would happen in the past, maybe show the events that led to keyblade war (how Terra, Aqua and Ven came to the events in Birth by Sleep), and KH3 would show how Xehanort would come to recover his memories, and try to redo what Baldy did in the past, and how Sora, Kairi and Riku try to stop him. That's the whole point with the theme of fate : it's supposed to be inescapable, and it's set even before you were born (just like a prophecy). In Birth by Sleep, it seems Aqua, Terra and Ven can't win : Baldy's just too powerful for them, to the point that Terra makes a desperate move by using the darkness (which is shown by his eyes turning yellow). Maybe the next game will have a tragic ending (inescapable fate is a landmark theme of tragedy), with the knights losing the final battle (or at least postponing the conclusion, with a stalemate since they can't hope to win), and that the whole story of Baldy, Xehanort and the keyblade solved in KH3, with the Destiny Island trio succeeding where the knights have failed, and defying fate.
I did, and I'm still thinking about it.
I believe the Secret Report established a link between Sora and Anti-Form, but I can't remember what...probably a remnant of his time as a Heartless. It could be developed in later games, so Sora would at last have something like a dark side.
Roronoa Sora ? I couldn't help but think, during the battle with Roxas, when you steal his keyblades : "If you could turn into Final Form at this point, it would be quadruple-weilding !"
Anyone can be a keyblade master ? What about when Captain Jack Sparrow tried to use the keyblade ? Why did Hades and Pete have to lure Sora into opening the Underworld Coliseum (they specifically said that one can't just weild a keyblade) ? A keyblade can only be used by someone who is worthy of it, and apparently the number one requirement is having a strong heart (Kairi being a Princess of the Heart, hers has no darkness in it, so she is more than worthy). The Station of Serenity is apparently a form of voyage into one's own heart, a trial that the keyblade puts you in to see if you're worthy.
Why would the absence of a keychain mean that the user isn't a genuine keyblade master ? Where did you get that idea ? I can see the logic, though I am far from agreeing with it, but what I don't understand is how people seem to take that as canon : it's not an official fact, it's only a theory which I don't find convincing or well backed up. And yes, Kairi's keyblade has a keychain (a paopu fruit, just look at the cutscene in the World that Never Was, after Riku gives her the keyblade, when she says "this time I'll fight"), but the way she obtained that keyblade is very weird : she didn't go to the Station of Serenity (at least it was never shown), was never presented as a potential keyblade master (she's a damsel in distress, not a fighter) and it was handed to her by Riku. Besides it disappeared very quickly after that and she never used it again. But she did use a keyblade, which means she has the potential for becoming a keyblade master.
Subtle difference : we never saw him go to the Station of Serenity. It's very possible he went there before Sora, when the keyblade chose him first, or that he went there during the missing year, when Sora was asleep, which is how he obtained Way to the Dawn. I like to think of it as a Terra Replica, much like the Riku Replica : a clone that embraces the darkness, which would mean Terra once used the power of darkness (and uses it at the very end of the secret ending). That would strengthen the link between Terra and Riku : they've had the same fate, so to speak. I believe that's a symbol for darkness (like the evil eye), since we first saw it on Riku's Soul Eater (in KH1, and at the time I doubt Nomura had already thought about Baldy and KH2FM's secret ending.), and it was reproduce on Way to the Dawn (which has symbols for both light and darkness). Well...since there was a whole bunch of keyblades in the secret ending, yes I'd say there can be any number of keyblade masters : how could there be a war if not ? The idea of history repeating itself means the keyblade war and what happened to Terra, Aqua and Ven : the words in Birht by Sleep tell of fates that have been set and that will start a new tale. To me it means that after the events of KH1 and KH2, Sora, Kairi and Riku have had their fates set : they are ready to live the same events that Terra, Aqua and Ven lived, and the whole question will probably be "Will they end up as their predecessors did ?". After all, it seems that the knights' fight against Baldy ended as a stalemate, which means its conclusion is only postponed. When Xehanort recovers his memories, when Baldy returns, there will be need for new keyblade masters to oppose him.
It could be said that Roxas was not technically a keyblade master, since he used Sora's heart, and that Kairi was not chosen, she was only able to use a keyblade thanks to her pure heart (she never went to the Station of Serenity, but it's obvious she has the potential to become a keyblade master). However, if I remember well, the Secret Report said there wasn't a definite number of keyblades, and that anyone worthy of it could be chosen. I hope time travel will not come into the storyline, since I'm not fond of that plot device, especially when it's not set early on as part of the universe. The theme of fate and the idea of history repeating itself (maybe with gaming alternating between past and future) seems much more interesting to me. About the keyblades picked up by the knights in the secret ending, they're not in Birth by Sleep. Which has led me to believe those scenes, though similar, are not set at the same time : Sunset Horizons is not directly followed by Birth by Sleep. In my opinion Birth by Sleep happens in the past, and Sunset Horizons in the future (the knights in the latter would be Sora, Kairi and Riku).
Allrighty then. I thought it wasn't that strong (5 attack 6 magic, that's a bit too much), but it's still a decent keyblade, even a very good one if you don't use forms too often.
Yes indeed, but it only has 1 magic and a negative ability (that's a total of 8 stat points). Fateful Encounter has 5 attack and 6 magic (that's a total of 11 stat points) and a negative ability. Ultima has a 6 attack and 4 magic (that's a total of 10 stat points) and a positive ability. All in all, Ultima's still the best, but I'd say Fateful Encounter is in the top three.
5 attack and 6 magic ? That's more than a decent keyblade, its stats are even better than Ultima's ! I suppose it's because it has a dangerous ability...
The whole theme of fate and the similarities between the three knights and the Destiny Islands trio can build up to the fact that Sora, Kairi and Riku and the successors of Ven, Aqua and Terra, bound to relive their history. Going from there, it would be logical that the keyblades are some kind of legacy, a weapon that's passed from master to master. The fact that Mickey has the Dark Realm Kingdom Key maybe has to do with the fact that Kairi has only been a damsel in distress so far : if she develops her potential (and she has a lot of it, since she's a Princess, with a very pure and strong heart), she may be chosen by a keyblade. The fact that Terra picks up Sora's keyblade may indeed be explained by the fact that Riku was originally meant to use it, and that he seems to be Terra's successor.
