The longer they fought the Sheep King, the more a strange feeling of familiarity crept over Rennette. For some reason, she felt as if she knew him, in fact she was pretty sure of it, but she just couldn't place where she knew Sheeptard from. Something about the hug felt familiar, and the way he moved his hooves as he skittered to the left. And the way he tossed his head in anger... "Aha!" Rennette's face suddenly brightened as she apparently recalled who this was. "Pablo!!! It's you Pablo, isn't it?!" she called out gleefully. "Do you remember me? I'm Rennette! Remember when you were a baby lamb, and we lived in the same field, and I would feed you milk from a bottle when you were hungry?" she asked him, reminiscing on past events. "And how we'd roll around the grass playing, or huddle under that willow tree when it rained?" By this time Rennette had once again wrapped her arms around Sheeptard, or Pablo as she knew him as. (Using Barrier surge here. :P ) "Please say you remember," she said more quietly, her voice muffled by the wool. "Nobody ever remembers."
Rennette used Aero. Mizuki is gonna chill and go along with whatever everyone else decides. Peter will probably maybe perhaps write a proper post tomorrow.
Mizuki reluctantly decided to follow after Alisa, Beucette and Lucia. That Manticore, while easily dispatched this time, would have proved to be a more formidable opponent had it been a one-on-one battle. Much as she was confident that she could kill another such creature by herself, Mizuki didn't really fancy crawling out of this maze half dead. So for now, she decided to stick to the other three, and assess exactly how infested this maze was before she set off on her own.
Rennette beheld with amazement the sudden appearance of the the Great Sheep King, its dexterous neutralization of their S-class mage, and it's utterly fantastical summoning of twenty-seven, that oh so specific and special number, of its Sheep brethren. It's magnificence was breathtaking and awe-inspiring, and as it turned to look at them with its furious smugness, an emotion heretofore never beheld by mortal eyes within this space-time continuum, Rennette could think of one thing. “Aw, it's so cute and fluffy!!! : D” Dashing towards the Sheep King, Rennette threw her arms wide and enclosed him within her embrace. “Love me, sheepy!” Rennette used Barrier surge and blocked for Gaius.
Mizuki went with everyone else and explored a cubby hole or something, idk, I need to sleep.
The moment Beucette's arm wrapped around her shoulder, Mizuki had frozen and turned to glare menacingly at the white haired girl. How dare she. I will fucking stab her right between her fucking stupid eyes. Her hand dropped slowly to her sword, gripping it in an iron hold. Furiously she whipped out her sword, cleaving through the air towards her enemy. Fortunately, by this time that designation had switched over to the huge Manticore just kinda sitting there. Mizuki used Sliding Dash on the Manticore
Mizuki went right, because she don't wanna hang out with y'all. I am going to regret this decision, I'm sure. Considering that Mizuki is a ****ing black X on the map, and there is no way in hell that is not a bad sign, she should really stick close to everyone else. ; _ ;
Mizuki gave the now fallen enemy, face down on the ground, a final look of disgust before turning away, wiping the blood from her sword with a rag. With the rush of the fight now subsiding, unbidden memories of her mother resurfaced, which forced back with savage strength of will. Not today. The glance she threw at Beucette as she passed her was one of empathy rather than rage. The girl would be up soon enough, others would see to that. And if they didn't, well, what did she care? What was pissing her off right now was all these imbeciles gawking at Caliborn. Yes, he was powerful, but they already fucking knew that. This hadn't been a hard fight, it was one that they would have finished easily on their own. It was when the fights became a deadly dance of death that Caliborn, and all the other S-class mages, would have to prove their mettle, not with raw power, but in their ability to make wise decisions a key moments. But Mizuki didn't really give a fuck about that. “Let's get a fucking move on,” she growled at the others, walking on past the pool. She assumed that the others would follow soon enough.
Mizuki used Blitz. Peter attempted to figure out what the hell he should do with Rennette... but failed! D:
That's the look of terror I like to see! : D
Well, I certainly shouldn't be on this list, I haven't actually left the site at all since I got here, er, 6 months-ish ago. So uh, everyone go vote Jayn. Or not. I don't own you. Yet.
Oh, uh, just realized the fight with the siren started... Mizuki used Sliding dash.
After being trapped on the boat for an extended period of time with a bunch of imbeciles, Mizuki was relieved when they reached land, even if that land was in fact the back of a giant turtle. Sure, there was the chance that the beast would decide to submerge and they would all then be sucked down beneath the waters with it, but it was a small risk to take given the alternative of spending more time with the other guild members. It wasn't long before they had passed below an ornate archway into what would once have been quite a lavish room, now mostly occupied by a pool of water. And most interestingly of all, there was a woman in said pool. Her dark hair and Balthazar concealed her face from Mizuki, so she edged closer to get a better look. Dark brown hair, eyes of gold, and a motherly smile. Mizuki gripped her sword tighter in anger. “You fucking bitch,” she spat out. “You're supposed to be dead. Tell me what you're doing here, you sick cunt, or I'll-” Mizuki stopped her verbal assault as she suddenly noticed the fish tail attached to the woman's body. A mermaid? Not quite... something strange was going on here, but Mizuki couldn't help but feel a little calmer as she realized that the woman in front of her was indeed not her mother. Rennette gazed sadly at the now useless piece of paper, and then accusingly at Gaius. “It can never fly again, Gaius. You relented to late,” she told him, shaking her head sadly. Suddenly she perked up though, having apparently experienced an epiphany. “Rennette knows what to do! She remembers what the paper looked like, sort of, so she could write the paper out again and show you that!” She looked around at everyone. “Is that a good idea?” She didn't seem to want to wait for an answer however, as she immediately went to work on a random piece of paper that was lying nearby. Firstly she simply stared intently at the blank page, perhaps attempting to bore a hole in it with merely the ferocity of her gaze. The paper withstood the mighty assault, however, and Rennette was satisfied as to its structural integrity, and set to work on it with a pen, bending right over it in her work, concealing it from everyone. After a few moments of this, Rennette was finally finished, and she held up her work to the others. “This is what it looked like, kind of,” she told Boreal. “Does it help?”
Mizuki hung back behind the rest of the group, glowering at everything and everyone as was the norm for her. Damn, she was bored. Too much talking about random shit, a huge ass pile of gold that was useless if it was just going to sit here looking pretty, and now that fucking X guy was telling them he was coming along on the mission. Stupid weak ass git, they didn't need and old man they'd just knocked over with ease holding them up on the mission because of the rheumatism in his knees. While muttering curses at X, her attention was suddenly taken by the fucking spirit promising to grant them the answer to one question. Interesting. Well, it was obvious what her question was going to be. Where the fuck was that asshole she needed to murder. Not that she could really come out with that question right in front of everyone, that could cause problems. Then again, if she did ask that question, what of it? The other guild members would find it strange, to be sure, but they would hardly have any inkling of her motives for asking such a question. Hell, some of them probably wouldn't even recognize the name. That said, if when she did kill him, and news got back to Sapphire Eclipse, then it wouldn't take much for some of the more competent members to connect the dots and figure it was her. Them figuring it out might not be particularly dangerous anyway, but perhaps it was best to err on the side of caution. "I shall ask my question at a later date," she grunted. And then didn't talk again for a dozen more pages. Gaius' activation of his, uh, Charlotte's, barrier surge had caught Rennette off guard and knocker her away, and before she could regain her hold on him Gaius had torn the paper to shreds and eaten it again. She sank down to her knees, horror glistening in her eyes. “You...” she gasped. “That paper... ripped apart like the tender dreams of youth... swallowed up in the maw of merciless apathy... that paper was special.” Tears welled up in her eyes. “That paper was special to Rennette, and you knew that,” she said accusingly to Gaius. She now turned her attention away from him, and from somewhere produced a small bouquet and candle, laying the two down in front of her and lighting to candle. Apparently it was some sort of shrine to the now ruined paper. Rennette began to chant, pausing for effect between each line. “These flowers that we lay here, They shall inexorably wilt, And cease to bloom, As waves rushing, Towards a stony shore, Cascading to their doom.” She cried silently for a few moments, before crying out with a wail. “Oh, that such a bright light should grow dim! And that we should be left to live on, till Father Time to us up with him! Adieu, fair prince! Godspeed our love to you!”
Before Rennette could answer Boreal and confirm that he did indeed have the correct piece of paper, Gaius had suddenly sprung out of nowhere, and, to her horror, swallowed it. She went uncharacteristically quiet, her eyes shadowed by her overhanging hair. “Gaius,” she said quietly, “how could you?” The entire room seemed to grow darker, with a single light illuminating Rennette. “That paper was special to Rennette,” she continued, visibly shaking with emotion. “It flew for over TEN FEET!!!” She suddenly raised her voice, and as she did so a mysterious wind swirled throughout the building, Rennette being the epicenter of this wind, rustling her clothes and hair. She was now glaring at Gaius, small tears visible in her eyes. “Rennette will show you the meaning of Redemption and Pain, both with a capital letter,” she declared. “RENNETTE SHALL HAVE JUSTICE!!!” She suddenly disappeared and then reappeared behind Gaius in a flash. She wrapped her arms around his stomach firmly, with deadly intent in her eyes. “It ends here for you, Gaius. ULTIMATE ATTACK: HEIMLICH MANEUVER!!!” With every ounce of her strength Rennette squeezed Gaius, and then again, and again. “Choke it up right now, or Rennette will crawl in there and get it herself!”
Rennette turned to face the newcomer, staring hard at Boreal. She appeared to be examining him, her brow furrowed in concentration, tapping her finger against the side of her face pensively. Her expression then suddenly changed, a huge smile spread across her face, and she ran towards him with her arms outstretched. “Boreal!” she squealed as she jumped up and wrapped her arms around his neck in a hug. “Rennette is glad to see you! But first things first,” she said, releasing Boreal and becoming more serious. “We have business to attend to, of course,” she explained to him. She cleared her throat, and leaned close, staring right into his eyes. “Do you like waffles?” She maintained her stare for a few moments, waiting for Boreal's response. “Oh yeah, the spell,” she added, without breaking eye contact. “Rennette read aloud a certain line from a certain piece of paper that was attached to a certain mission board, and Rennette used this certain piece of paper to create a certain paper airplane that a certain Rennette then threw a certain distance.” Her eyes narrowed, supposedly indicating suspicion. “But Rennette is sure you knew that already.” Mizuki used Blitz.
Having been given indication of which direction the north was in, Rennette trotted off at exactly the opposite of 272 degrees from the north, slipping lightly through the tables and chairs that occupied that part of the guild hall. She stopped between two tables and turned back to the others. “See, this is where the plane landed,” Rennette told them with a look of pride in her eyes. “It went really far, right?! Here, Rennette will show you how it landed.” She took the paper airplane out of the folds of her dress and set it down on the ground, looked at it for a moment, carefully adjusted it to point slightly to the right, then stood back up smiling down at her handiwork, obviously pleased with herself. Then she picked it back up and threw it across the room again. “So, why did you want to see where Rennette threw the plane anyway?” she asked. “Rennette is happy that you were curious, of course, but not many people ask about things like this. Nobody really cares about anything,” she added sadly. She quickly brightened up though, and smiled. “Rennette wants waffles. Do you like waffles?” Mizuki used Sliding Dash on X, or whoever it is.
"So which direction did you throw the airplane?" Rennette turned to Veilen and nodded in response to his question. “Yes, Rennette threw it that way,” she said with assurance, pointing to the right. “Wait, actually that way,” she continued, swinging her arm to point to her left with equal conviction. After maintaining eye contact with Veilen for a few moments, she suddenly sighed and shrugged. “Rennette doesn't really know where she threw it to, unfortunately,” she sighed. “She knows that it was thrown two-hundred and seventy-two degrees from the north, but since she doesn't know which direction north is, Rennette can't really tell you what trajectory the aircraft flew by.” She shook her head sadly, but then suddenly brightened up as an epiphany visibly formed in her mind. “Ooh, ooh, does anyone have a compass?! If they do, then Rennette can figure out where the plane landed!” She looked around at the other guild members. “Anyone?”
Observing the confusion caused by the switching of bodies, Rennette couldn't help but giggle. She found this situation amusing. “Rennette wants to play too!” she declared. “Rennette is, um, Rennette could be Evanora, or Aeron, or... Oh, I know, Acnologia!” She took a wide stance and spread her arms. “Rawr, Rennette is Acnologia!” she said, baring her teeth. She suddenly remembered something. “Oh yes, some of you were wondering how this happened. Well, Rennette found a mission on the mission board, and it wanted us to decipher some words,” she explained. “Rennette read the words, then there was that flash of light, and then Rennette turned the paper into a paper airplane! It flew really far,” she said absentmindedly. “Oh yeah,” she said suddenly, reverting to the task at hand. “The words on the paper. I think they said... Uro... Uuuurrroooo...” Her brow furrowed as she thought hard about it. “Uro des risachi borrowed cane. Wait, Uro des risachi bro caney? Hmm, those don't sound right...” She paced back and forth, stroking her chin thoughtfully. “Perhaps if I say it backwards I'll remember. I don't remember it forwards, but... never mind, this will work.” She cleared her throat. “Ainak orob ihcusar ured ogu.” Rennette tilted her head as if she was listening carefully to what she had just said, and then nodded sharply. “Yes, that's it backwards. So forwards it would be Ugo deru rasuchi boro kania!” she beamed. “Now, Rennette would like to know what you're going to do with this information.”
Mizuki used Sliding Dash. Also, bagels.
