With all due respect Judge at this stage I don't think voting Cal actually gets us anywhere. She's not exactly here and as she said, she's only around to respond when directly asked (Something I only realised now that she said it, I assumed she was going to be able to post as per normal while out). There's not much time on the deadline either so I think that we're better off consolidating one lynch rather than putting on pressure that doesn't really count for much unless the votes carry across from one day after another after a lynch, which I assume they don't. I'd have saved that particular thing for Day Two personally.
Oh, really? I didn't realise they had so many. Sorry, I wasn't counting votes.
We have limited time so I suggest that we don't all try for a lynch that won't go anywhere. I still think that Tribbles is our best shot of actually getting a successful lynch today, and it's one that'll give us some good information.
I don't know whether it's a definite scum tell or not but I do think that Cal needs to do more than nitpick so we can actually make progress in this game, right now it's not achieving all that much. I also want to see Cal respond to this, because she's been avoiding the issue in the posts that she's made since. Why would she ignore it, except for that she has no way of clearing herself of the accusations put against her? I mean, with all that said what do you actually think about Tribbles? I think that she's a safe lynch for us and we've already got some support for it. At the moment we are very much running out of day so we do need, yes need to decide on a lynch and consolidate. It's clear to me that we don't seem to put a lot of stock in the Karuta case, because almost nothing has been said since about it and we've been focusing on other issues. While I think that we've come to think that Karuta is less of an issue, I still think that Tribbles is a significant threat that could potentially emerge later. I'd lynch her over say, Saxima in a heartbeat because Sax is newer and she's a little bit less of a threat, whereas I know that Cstar could become a problem later on. I don't think that we have enough on Sax to justify a lynch on her. Put it this way - Lynching Tribbles also gives a bit of perspective. We'll get information on alignments. Since I'm apparently a point of contention now you'll see where I'll flip and you might get an idea of how other people might too. The other options seem to me to be too weak to justify anything else and we've already got two votes on Tribbles. It's an easy one to push through with the limited time left and by the looks of things there will not be an extension. I encourage you to put the vote down here.[DOUBLEPOST=1469968260][/DOUBLEPOST]And I think that lynching Cal is probably a waste of time because we'll be able to figure her out based on what happens after the Tribbles lynch.
I'm going to discount what you said about about making my own case. To start with, my case on Tribbles was primarily self constructed and then upon going through, I found that other people agreed. Secondly, what you're saying is that I'm going to be judged on whether I happen to be around at such a time when a tell is given off and then I have to reply to it before someone else does? I think we can agree that such a demand is unreasonable. I can confirm that this was not the implication intended. I was simply stating that we agreed as a group (Or as a Town which I wrote, writing in the relevant vernacular) on where we stand on the issue. People can disagree with the view that we shouldn't be lover speccing all they want, that doesn't make them inherently Town or Mafia. I want to point something in your post out. 'He spends a lot of time defending himself more than making an actual theory'? An accusation was levelled at me, and so I responded. I even had my theory. I presented it and thus far it seems strong. In fact, I feel as if my suspicions have only strengthened at this point and people seem to agree with me on Tribbles. Your point there is lacking. I've acted in nothing but our interests. I've commented on and reacted to everything that I have felt is necessary to. And that is the best that I can do for the Town. Which, even if you are still somehow suspicious, is still better than people who post rarely and give little information when they do. Now, it's very early in the morning here so I shall be signing off for now. I'll respond to anything I need to when I can. I may even have a case for you, we'll see how it pans out.
I was sort of hoping that the emoticon would signal that it was a joke and not to be taken seriously. Should have seen it coming right back at me coming back at me. To clarify, what I meant there was important Town players that contribute to the game significantly. However, this also became irrelevant as later on I believe we came to the consensus as a Town that worrying about who we're connected to as Lovers is a secondary concern compared to who is scum and who isn't, which I went on to agree with. As I stated in the post speaking on my behalf, I was having trouble figuring out how to play this particular version of the game. Now, that isn't a particular concern for me because we've got an MO sorted and I can't fault the logic behind it. This seems weak to me. However... I am curious to see what Judge has to say here. We'll have to see what his theory entails before we continue further. If last game is anything to go by, when Judge brings a theory to the table it might just change the game a little. As for my response to the question of lover speccing, we did think it was a bad idea overall BUT I had a slightly different opinion since you asked. I don't think it's important yet but as the numbers on both sides start to whittle down I think that it is most certainly worth considering who is lovered to whom. As the numbers get tighter it might be worth worrying about but at this early stage I don't think it holds much merit. The reason I do that is for preserving some brevity. Left to my own devices I will say exactly the same thing as someone else but in another two lines, that's just how I usually write. However, if someone has already said it and I can save myself some time when I'm writing a long post to try to respond to a long series of new posts and goings-on in the thread then I'll just state "I agree" or "Good point" etc. to say either that it's a stance I support or that a good point is made, one which I can go back to later. I think you'll find that if you go back and look at when I've said that, it has been to make my stance on a particular matter known by referring to what someone else said or that it's a good point from which I can springboard off to make a further point. Sax seems fairly Town I'd say. She seems to be the new player trying her best to contribute. We'll see more as the day continues. Not sure whether I agree with you or not on the Karuta case or not... You may be right or wrong. I think once we see more from Karuta I'll be able to come to a more significant decision on them but right now I'm not convinced by what you're saying there. And Cal does need to step up her activity. @Calxiyn what do you think about Jiku, Splodge, Tribbles and Karuta? In summary, I'm of the same opinion. So far she appears to be a nervous Townie, but I think that more needs to be said from her to really reach a strong opinion.
Okay, that serves as a reasonable explanation. I didn't post hugely for similar reasons of being busy so I can hardly blame you for not posting much on the same basis. And forgetting to vote... I can see it. I will say this though - Town reads are just as valuable as Mafia reads. Do you have any Town reads to offer us? One might suggest that having less content is a Mafia signal. Although, in this instance I'm inclined to say that she has put herself out there as being out there with stats and metrics and while it would be nice to know her reasoning for voting Karuta, it might not be entirely suspicious either. I would like to see the reasoning though. And you propose an interesting counterpoint to Splodge, but I'm not sure that the defence given has entirely convinced us that it was a newbie error. Perhaps the mistake was formed from being Mafia and under the pressure of being called out, made more mistakes? The thing is, Splodge hasn't really given us anything to suggest that he isn't Mafia. If he came back with something then perhaps that would make a difference? Right now he's playing very defensively. A good point. I did specifically request the data so that we could have more data to form some cases off. I understand that some more reasoning would be nice but Mish said it. The statistics are there for a reason. There's nothing necessarily wrong with reading someone's behaviour as typical for them. What we have to decide is whether that behaviour is pro-Town or not. So far I'm inclined to think that it's pro-Town however I do thing that Jiku's reason for voting is basically required for us to be able to come to a decision on whether she's sus or not and whether she should be a target for us. I'm inclined to say that it's too soon to judge, but equally you seem to think that the lack of content is actually problematic. To all of you, what are you thoughts on Jiku since she's coming into question right now? I should clarify, my stance is that while I'm suspicious, I think that there are greater priorities such as Splodge who need to be addressed more immediately.
Okay, allow me to present my rebuttal here. As a response to the accusations of not posting much, it began yesterday and I was out at training and then I was tired. This morning, I had a driving lesson and I've been out doing garden work. Therefore, I haven't exactly had time to post but now that it's the evening I can get back to my standard posting routine. Me saying that I was drawing a blank can be attested to much the same thing in terms of tiredness, however there's some other things at play here. I'm not sure how to play this particular version of Mafia and while other people don't seem to be having the problems that I'm having right now, it's affecting my play significantly trying to figure out how best to play this. Now that I've had a night to mull things over and I'm refreshed, I think you'll find me back to my normal operating standards. Now, if you're both going to take me to task on the grounds of not building cases nor posting frequently, I would like to not only point you in the direction of others who are behaving perhaps similarly, and have shown a precedent for being suspicious by playing in a very similar way as well as presenting a case of my own now that I've had time to read through the thread again. The individual I am bringing up here is none other than @tribbles. Here are the only posts of significance of hers. Since you're the self-proclaimed metric keeper, @Jiku Neon would you kindly take a post count of Tribbles and perhaps other people being voted? I will admit, that there is little to glean from this in terms of suspicion. This post simply reiterates the feelings of other people and adds little to the discussion. I'm aware that I have thus far done some similar things but the sticking point for me here will be addressed shortly. She states here that she has nothing to go off. She even goes so far as to highlight one person that she finds suspicious, but where does she comment on her feelings about Ars Nova? She made a bold beginning putting down the random vote, however nothing has been followed up on and the vote remains where? On Nova. For what reason? None. I acknowledge that it hardly means a lot at this stage, we're only talking Day One here but I think there's enough cause to be suspicious here. The main problem is her behaviour last game. Cstar was able to quite comfortably fly under the radar making vaguely pro-Town gestures but we (I say we, I was dead for most of it) ignored her because there were bigger, more obvious fish to fry and yet when pressured, she was the one who cracked. We've already seen Cstar do something sneaky and stay hidden throughout nearly the whole game. We might well be at risk of seeing the same thing happen again (It is at this point, that I noticed that Mish said exactly the same thing but more succinctly). ##Vote: tribbles Call it a prod to get you into the wider fray and out of the flying low band. I'd agree with you all on the Splodge case too, and even throw my vote down but you've got that covered and have explicitly requested that no more votes are put down. The fact that he decided to take on Judge for very little reason and has had well, frankly lacklustre reasoning suggests that he's a bit shady. If you're looking for Town reads on me, I'd go with Midnight Star at the very least. I get a very strong town impression from her because she's been trying to get everyone's suspicions out there and has been actively encouraging the sort of discussion that we need to win. She's been constantly talking about gut reads and really tried to focus on making sure that the Town doesn't get hung up on having to justify everything. However, I prefer to provide justification for my suspicions - Hence the case against Cstar. These are the posts that make me think that Midnight is Town thus far. Based on what I've said above, you should be able to see why I think that she's town based on the encouragement she's given and how proactive she's been in encouraging us to come forwards with suspicions, even if they aren't strongly supported. Remember, this is Day One and there's more information yet to come.
"You could say the same about here. Just a bunch of hills and fields with a bunch of really angry people running around. But it's still home." He replied in a light tone. The Witcher untied the horses and mounted his own. He saw Treasa looking hesitantly at Veceslav's mount and he rolled his eyes. he picked up the reins and held them up. "Mount up, or are you planning on walking to Kaer Morhen?" He threw her the reins and prepared to ride out. "You got family back there? Skellige I mean. Something to go home to?" Apparently Tessa seemed to take offence to the fact that they didn't handle the door. Well, what was he supposed to do? He wasn't sure which house it was, and it would seem remiss for a total stranger to knock on his door. However, now that she had knocked he approached and stood there, waiting for an answer .Hopefully this Sigmund would be of use to them. "Leave the concerns about my soldiers to me. If it makes you feel any better, I assure you that they are ready. These men are professionals." General Godyvron responded. A few minutes later and a rider appeared. "Sir, the castle is in sight." The general nodded. "Tell the men to form up, get some of the general staff to cut down these trees so we can get the trebuchets in position, unpack man-portable rams too. Assemble them as soon as possible. I'm going to get a look at this castle myself. Coming Witcher?" He rode out along the line with his bodyguard of Nilfgaardian Knights with him. The column was separating as his orders were delivered. He rode down the path with his party some ways, and examined the situation. It seemed that there were a few people here already, and they were a mixed party. He'd have a group of his soldiers get them out of his way or joining in the assault shortly. The castle was a dilapidated mess by the looks of it and the trebuchets should get through the walls. It'd take a little bit of time to set up in which they could try some infantry assaults but this would be over in a matter of hours at least. "Recognise any of the people down there?"
Going around saying that I agree with a lot of the stuff that is being said here is pretty useless. Suffice to say that we ought to keep our Lovers quiet to avoid the Mafia playing off them. As has already been said, one cunning lynch could easily lose us the game because the numbers will be equal. We need to make sure that such a thing isn't possible. We've just got to hope that doesn't happen by coincidence. This is a tough call because the game is rather chaotic and there's a lot flying about at the moment. I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what the deal with people is. As people have said, Korosu's actions are a little weird but that might be down to inexperience or simply a failure to properly read through the thread. Honestly, I wish I had something more concrete to offer but right now I'm drawing a blank. It's frustrating to have to be so passive. I'll be paying particular attention to the people who were put up to two votes, and the ones that did it because I feel like there's something to be gleaned there but what remains to be seen.
Full Name: Alistair Warren Appearance: Was posing for a friend of mine doing Media and we got this one. Age: 21 Likes: Well you know, the usual stuff. Reading, video games, watching stuff on TV? Oh, and fencing of course. Dislikes: Really, really overbearing people who are loud and rude, they sort of kill the mood you know? Weaknesses/Fears: Sharks (There aren't sharks on this island right? Thanks mom and dad for showing me Jaws too young and giving me that irrational fear). Strengths/Talents: I'm fast, pretty strong and I'm a good fencer. And well, play me at video games and find out. Personality: I'd say I'm pretty relaxed, my friends say that I'm on form with banter. Sexual Preference: Ohhh boy, it's like that eh? Straight. Sorry guys, nothing personal. Are you a Virgin? (How many partners have you had?): Only a couple really. More after this trip by the sounds of it. Highest level of education?: University of York. Britain represent! Do you smoke? (Do you use illegal substances?): Nope. You do you, but it's not for me. Do you have children? (If yes, how many): None. Do you exercise on a daily basis? (If yes, how many hours a week, and what do you do, leg work? Arms? Rounds out at two and a half hours to three, not quite Olympic. Do you live alone?: I have a couple of room mates who wish they were me right now. Do you have a mental illness?: Managed to stave it off so far. Apart from the irrational fear of sharks caused by watching Jaws way too young (Thanks Mom and Dad). Have you ever stolen a potential partner from your best friend?: Nah. We've got different tastes. Have you dated your best friends old boyfriend or girlfriend?: Nope. Have you ever betrayed a friend?: Definitely not. Have you ever wanted to kill anyone?: I mean, I guess? Doubt I'd actually do it though. There's always that one guy who you want to drop dead, but not really. You just want him to shut up and stop doing whatever he's doing. If your best friend or lover committed a crime, what would you do?: Huh. Well, I guess it depends? I'd probably turn them in if it was something really bad. DnD alignment?: Lawful Good (Oh yeah, I've played some of this too). What's your deepest, darkest secret?: My search history. I mean nothing. Do you have a mental illness?: No, why would you ask that? (Bi-Polar Disorder) Have you ever cheated on a boyfriend or girlfriend?: No. Have you ever lied to your best friend?: If I had to, and I've had to now and then. For their own good of course. What's your deepest, darkest secret?: I'm afraid that's classified, and you won't be hearing it from me. What do you hope to discover about yourself this week?: I'm less interested in myself, and more interested in finding out about the other people here!
Ah, you raise a good point. Perhaps they were trying to mount more pressure? I'm admittedly not that convinced on that front. It's quite possible that she simply didn't notice because there's a lot going on. Not everyone meticulously goes through everything. We'll see. The answers to the questions will tell their own story, nothing we can do but wait for the answers. @Korosu Were you aware that Karuta already had a vote when you posted your random vote? Is there any particular reason that you're still keeping it there? Are you satisfied with Splodge's responses Maru? Speaking of Maru, are @Splodge and @Karuta still suspicious of her, or do you think that you can move your votes now? Hmm, might be worth thinking about the people on Splodge then? To be honest, it doesn't feel like a massive deal to me whether they have one lover or more. At the end of the day, we've concluded that instinct is the best thing to go with for now. Votes are fluid, Nova can change his as soon as the desired effect is achieved. Although, I would say that he could have done with tagging Sax too. I think Nova's a bit ill and just voted for Sax rather than tagging. @Saxima you are being voted for by Nova because of inactivity. Please jump in when you can for your sake if no other reason.
It's a good point you raise there. Yeah, no more essay posts on what you think the grand Mafia plan is :P As you pointed out, it's not a bad thing to only have one lover. The self serving is also a valid point, though that might be down to relative inexperience with the game. The problem with lynching the quietest players at any given time is that they might be connected to someone important. It's a question of how we want to operate - Do we want to try to minimise damages caused by lynching people based on how many people they're paired to, or do we want to do it by who is the quietest? Midnight sums it up wonderfully here and I wholeheartedly agree with her plan here. We need to decide who is Mafia the same way as usual because otherwise we will talk to no end and not do much lynching as we try to carefully dance around the numbers and probabilities. At least, at this stage. I'd say that later on in the game, we ought to be more careful as the numbers drop. For every Mafia we lynch, there is either one or two Town Members lost. We ought to consider the numbers more later when there are fewer of us, however at the moment I think that Midnight is right and instinct is our best guide. I can't remember who it was last game, I think it may have been Judge, but exploring more than one case at the same time is ultimately more beneficial for Town. The more information, the more informed we are when we choose a lynch target. And yes, Mafia speculation is a little bit of a waste of time because it seems to descend into WIFOM and it doesn't provide much information. While Cal's MO post last game wasn't entirely wrong, I don't think it really helped the Town decide on who was guilty in the end. What it came down to was slip ups and the Cop's cunning gambit. Spot on.
Okay, I just got back from training and I've read through the thread. I'll post something after I've had a shower and stuff.
This is a thing that I will play in.
Yup, I'm in @Makaze
The Inquisitor was not fazed by the sudden appearance of the Vampire from what seemed to be the wall. He allowed Hendrick to take point, deciding that he would put his faith in his comrade while keeping his own eyes open. When she emerged, he met her sharp gaze with a steely look of his own. There was enough trouble in this city and with the everpresent threat of Titania looming over them, he wasn't going to back down. "We're not here to use you - What we want to do is make an alliance to protect everyone, because we are all in danger from a common foe." He didn't name her, for it was not necessary. "If we could have the privilege of meeting your leader, then it would be much appreciated." "Very well." Glynda curtsied to the Queen and turned around, then walked away. So, the Nephilim girl that was captured was returning home. This was not going to be good, she got the distinct impression that trouble was very much ahead. She felt the tension of the situation rising in her - How did this all fit in with Titania's plans? Whose side was the Emissary on? So many questions, any yet the situation provided little to give her any guidance. The most she could do was do as was ordered, until the time was right. Whatever happened, she had a feeling that she was best served by getting away from the knights as soon as possible once everything kicked off. Karl awaited a response from Cassandra and sipped his beer. Mmm, tasty.

"Ah, what the hell. You're right. Let's saddle up if you're ready to go. I'm a Witcher not a bloody princess. And neither are you." He shook his head, disapproving of his own caution. He still wasn't used to working alongside other people, at least other non-Witchers so he was likely overcompensating for other people's limitations. And it was only a light snow. "And yeah, of course. You come from Skellige. Must be a load of snow up there. You'll have to tell me about it along the way, never been. Never had cause to." Derrick began to walk towards the stables where they'd left their horses. He moved with a light stride, rolling his shoulders and getting used to the new equipment. He bet that the Old Crow would probably scold him for having something so stylish because it put a bit too much form over function in places but hey, he could deal with it. He had been scolded for the past few years of his life, he could deal with it. "Interesting. Sounds like this Witcher didn't seem to care that you were Dopplers. I suppose not all of them are indiscriminate killers." In the back of his mind, Adolin considered the possibility that he simply hadn't been paid to kill them. Though it did generally seem odd and even he, who was cynical of Witchers could not find a logical reason for the Witcher to send them to this Sigmund for any particularly evil reason. With the memory of Kaer Morhen fresh in his mind, he felt a pang of guilt. He had already accepted that what he had done may not have been morally the best. He and Alanna decided that. He hardly felt comfortable going to this confidant of the Witchers, but the news surely could not have spread so soon and he could probably be well shut of here by the time that the news eventually came around. "This friend of yours is rich. If he was willing to help you before, I'm sure that he'll be understanding now." A hand fell to his sword hilt. I hope he is. The General listened intently as the Witcher delivered an explanation of what he knew of these undead and quickly began to consider countermeasures for them. "Very well. Send word to the officers down the line, the tactics for handling undead will be thus - Our large shields out in front to hold them back, greatswords in the second rank and pikes in the third. Greatswords will stand behind the shieldbearers until they come too close for the pikes, at which point they will aim to carve these things to pieces and cripple. Beyond that, our infantrymen will fill in for the pikemen. Ensure that our most heavily armoured warriors are used, we want the most protection against these things. If I've judged the Witcher's words correctly, then there might not be too much to punch through our plate armour." Godyvron explained. "In the event that our men encounter this... Aaron without the Witcher's help then they will surround him with shields and impale him with pikes. If that does not stop him, then the greatswordsmen will put him out of action permanently." The messengers nodded once they had received their orders and rode off to deliver the news down the line and the General turned to face Keenan once more. "I apologise for the desecration of your comrade's corpse. It is simply practicality. I do not wish to see my soldiers dying to him. We've all heard stories of Witchers and a dead man walking is perhaps more terrifying than the living ones, if only for the shock factor." He explained. "The men we'll be deploying are professionals and should not break rank. These are hardened veterans and would rather fight for their lives than flee."
