He gritted his teeth as soon as Roxanne spoke. He wasn't sure how he was going to handle the situation with her and it was only more clear to him now that this was going to end poorly. He had hoped that he might be able to wrangle it such that she was kept alive to make herself useful during this crisis but now it seemed that was going to be less of an option. "I realise that you didn't ask us to help avenge your people, but our objectives may align somewhat. That was the point I was trying to get across Your Majesty." The Inquisitor pointed out. He was torn. And he meant to bring up something with Cyrus soon. The man, he realised, was rather quick to sacrifice other people. Was that why he called himself Hendrick, to try to run away from that part of him that didn't seem to care? He attempted to lock eyes with the Vampire King. "But what guarantee is there that you'll uphold your end of the bargain? Your contempt for us is clear. We're few in numbers, and you're asking me to sacrifice another person? What do you intend to do with her? Yorick was useless, his mind enslaved. She can still fight. She still has use for the cause." "They're barking up the wrong tree, so to speak. Like I said, there's a balance of power to maintain. Now it's being tipped here. What the Nephilim do is necessary, like it or not. It keeps one race from dominating the others, and it protects the humans. They're not meant to be involved in our struggles, and I say we keep it that way. But without the Nephilim, how long before that carefully maintained illusion collapses?" Karl asked. He downed the remainder of his beer and placed it on the bar, then gestured for another. "So I say screw those individuals that want to pursue a worthless grudge. We should fight the real oppressor before she gets the chance to dominate us all." He started on the second pint, wiping the frothy head of the beer off his beard.
lol I managed to place second again! Props for the mad guessing skills Cat because that was hard XD
Sorry I'm late everyone!!! Man this is going to be so bad XD
I don't know whether you noticed that I said I'd play again, so I'll play again : D
I'm totally down for playing again!
So close! Next time.
There you go : D
I'll play, sounds good
The Inquisitor was forced to admit to himself that the Vampire King was intimidating. The eerie quiet whisper that was his voice to start with, the way it perfectly resonated in this hall to maximise its effect and the rapt silence of his followers told a tale of Yuri Sokolov that could instil only terror in the minds of lesser people, and even the stalwart Corvo felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on edge. He knew immediately that it was Roxanne who hadn't been respectful and mentally cursed her, and also for his entry. This wasn't a great start. And it only got worse. He wasn't able to keep the surprise from his eyes when the Vampire King declared that he had killed Yorick. And the criticism... The Vampire was right. He should have thought it through longer, not been so open to the suggestion of a fast solution to a complicated problem. He thought back to Luce who he had swore to save. She would never forgive him. But what was done was done and he would not be weak here. If anything, his resolve was strengthened. "You're right. I should have thought more. There could have been another way." Corvo admitted, the most genuine that he had been thus far. However, even though he made a mistake he had to stand by his choice. "But Yorick was a criminal, his crimes despicable. It was a punishment that I had considered myself. What you have asked, is a fair question. And my answer to it is that to throw away a potential ally would be foolhardy. Ties between the Nephilim, your people and other Downworlders are strained as it is. I killed a traitor, but I'm not an indiscriminate murderer. And even if I wanted to, I severely doubt that I could kill you. There's a reason you've held on to your throne this long." He paused for a moment before continuing. "I ask you to form this alliance so that you can keep it longer, and so that your people can be free of the rule of the Fae." The Inquisitor spoke with confidence and energy. "Titania and Yorick took people from every race; Vampires, Nephilim, Warlocks and Werewolves. I'd wager she even killed her own people for it. Yorick slew our own people and the two of them kidnapped, killed and harvested from us all. She seeks to summon the Angel, and destroyed the mind of her partner so that he could not profit, so that she alone could claim the prize. She was happy enough to use your people for her own gain, and Yorick received his retribution for what he did. Had I known the methods, or the terrible things he had done I would have punished him earlier. Against the Seelie Queen as she stands currently, we are all in danger. She alone stands to gain the power that none should have. If she destroys us, then where will she stop? Titania is bold enough to challenge us at our very sanctuary. The balance of power in New York has shifted King Yuri, and I ask your help in restoring it." It was as Yuri said - A leader must be strong. That's what he would see. Karl grinned at the comment about berserker wolves. It was expected. People still seemed to think that all Norwegians were Viking raiders with big beards with horned helmets that raucously drank mead and berserked. He thought it was funny. "Most people make that mistake. Most people are wrong. We must keep our fangs sharp and our senses honed, but only strike when it is necessary." He sipped more beer. "Power Cassandra, is a delicate thing. Back in Norway, we have what we call Maktbalansen. How power is divided amongst the races. Their Queen upsets it. I've been getting word off the street. She's growing bold, good shaman. Too bold. Say what you will about the Nephilim, but at least they are reliable, predictable and at home at least, quite fair. So long as we don't kill humans and leave the others mostly alone, we're just fine. But I get bad vibes. I think the Seelie Queen's going to come down hard on everyone and I'll be damned if the Fae lord over us." Glynda continued to rush towards the Institute, striding as quickly as her outfit permitted with the Seelie Knights in tow. Hopefully the girl was slow, or being slowed down. She had to catch her before she got inside otherwise there might be problems.
"Perhaps, we shall see." Corvo replied tersely. The Inquisitor stepped into the elevator, displaying no fear for what was to come. They were here to negotiate with Yuri and they would do it and secure some sort of alliance. They had to. If they didn't, then the true enemy would gain more power and they would be less well prepared to face her when she came. He remained quiet and stoic, not responding to the taunts about sparing themselves and staying behind. If any of them chose to, he wouldn't begrudge them, but this was something he had to do. When the elevator gate closed, he did feel a sense of trepidation. They were headed into enemy territory now. It felt claustrophobic in the elevator, and even Corvo knew that they were completely at the vampires' mercy now. If they were lucky, they might make it to the elevator if it went wrong. if they were lucky. They arrived at the bottom and the black door was opened. He took a deep breath and exhaled it, quashing the nerves that he was starting to feel. He couldn't abide a situation where he had no control, but he was there on a mission. He broke his silence with a final order before they entered. "Don't do anything rash. We are at their mercy now." He took a step into the room and immediately, a hundred alarm bells started ringing in his mind. The room was an assault on the senses. The flitting shadowy figures pacing around the room, drawing close but never on to the carpet that led towards the throne room. The sounds of whispering and hissing, the feeling of dozens of eyes all on them. The imposing figure on the throne in front of them, the Vampire King who held no love for their kind. Despite the size of the room, Corvo felt oppressed and very alone, even with Hendrick and Roxanne behind him. Even the chambers of the Queen of the Fae felt less dangerous than this place. He forced himself to take more steps into the room. They had a mission. They had to stop Titania, avenge the damage done to Yorick's mind and he had to reform the Clave. There was a lot to do, and he could achieve nothing if he failed his mission here. He looked up at the King of Vampires on his throne. "My greetings to you Yuri, King of Vampires." He gave a respectful bow to the King, though his tone was not obsequious. "I am Corvo Eismauer, Inquisitor of the Shadow Hunters. With me are Hendrick and Roxanne, two of my fellow Nephilim. We thank you for allowing us this audience." As far as he was concerned, he had to show respect. "We have come here to discuss terms for a potential alliance against a common foe." Glynda soon departed with the Seelie Knights, heading for the Institute as she was commanded. Even though she was considering her options and felt a distinct sense of turmoil, she knew that to disobey the Queen at this juncture would be suicide. She had to do what she was ordered, and she might be able to make a difference from the inside. If she was wanting to get her prisoner back, then she might be able to get her out at a later date given the chance. It would depend on Gaia and what she did. She wouldn't throw her life away for this though, not yet. Glynda made swift progress towards the Institute, unseen by the humans as she headed for the Institute of the Nephilim where she would find her target waiting. She hoped. "If the mad wolf dares come for me then he'll find his match, but I don't need to resort to brawling behind the scenes to beat him at the moot." Karl replied. "That's not how I operate. We won't unify against the dangers of the Fae with that sort of attitude. I respect the wisdom you possess, but such a thing is not in line with how I am. If it comes to it, I shall face him before the whole moot. Until then..." Fighting Grayson wasn't going to help him. In fact, as far as he was concerned waiting until such a time that the Mad Wolf made his own challenge was more beneficial for him. At the moot he'd show himself, and Karl would prove himself his match if it came to that. Even if he did manage to win them over without fighting Grayson, he suspected that the old Alpha would not so easily accept his demotion...
... Wow. That worked real well. Take two. (I'll stop now don't get mad at me Mak D: )
Hmm... Looking at this post it is obvious that Marushi is Mafia. But why? Well, she keeps contradicting herself. I believe that this shows she's been found out and tried to cover up by playing the "Kill me" so she looks like a selfless Townie, but if she dies then the Mafia will lose so she changes her mind...[DOUBLEPOST=1470076488][/DOUBLEPOST](I'll stop now don't get mad at me Mak D:)
I already voted, can't help you there I'm afraid.
I didn't do it because you said so. You realise that you're my arch-nemesis don't you?
Yeah, but it wasn't directed at you so shhhhh :P
Make your peace Maru, we're going down together XD We'd have made a fun team if it hadn't turned out like this. Next time!
You could just stand around talking yourselves into circles?
It looks like a lot of things are going downhill, so since you asked my Lovers are none other than Marushi and Midnight Star. @Calxiyn I am not sure what there is to say, so I will say nothing of it. You've got your conclusions, and there's nothing that I can do to sway you. Actually, I will say that I didn't act like I didn't know how many I had, I just wasn't willing to say so. What now? Make your choice. ##Vote: Marushi
Turns out, I did feel like posting tonight. So, going through what's been happening today much of what I feel has been said. We need to see posts from people like Saxima and generally, the rest of the playerbase. I'd particularly like to see what she has to say because of her rather dramatic suspect list where she identified five potential Mafia members (Naming one of which as myself). For convenience, that is put down here. Now, the question is has any of that changed? From a personal point of view I didn't have too much stock in the Splodge case because as Judge pointed out there was room for reasonable doubt. I felt that it was more than likely a newbie mistake but I turned out wrong. Now, let's see what we can make of the rest of her list, because it's an interesting list and contains some of the controversial figures around. My opinion towards myself should be quite obvious, so I don't need to reiterate it. Now, what we have left are three people. Let's see about them. Nova is an... Interesting character in the game at the moment and seems to be the target of Judge's next theory. Since he's already declared, I think I'll leave the big theory on Nova up to him and I expect that if not tonight, perhaps tomorrow and I'm sure that we'll all come out at least a little bit more enlightened. Moving on to Mish, we have an interesting character who proved to be the key point in the previous game however her ambiguity and general attitude almost led to a defeat. However, this game she's being different and while still not posting frequently, she's making clear stances and I generally think she's being more helpful. Call it a Neutral-Positive read if you will. And of course Calxiyn, who I formally apologise to for going after while she was away, but I simply believed that she was able to reply to things when she was out since she had posted in the thread however it appears that I wasn't correct about her level of activity, which she soon corrected. However, that doesn't mean that I'm giving her a free pass and I'll expect a reply once she returns. Her aggressive tactics and nitpicking have already been discussed. One could certainly argue that she's guilty of something by her relative distance from Splodge and her focusing of me during the latter stages of that particular lynch, giving her a degree of plausible deniability for her involvement. Speaking of distance, she did an awfully good job of making sure that they had no Also note that she was actually the last person to consolidate that lynch. Now, what does that mean? Possibly nothing. Or it could be that she, as a Mafioso put herself on that wagon to show that she was one of the people responsible for the kill. That puts her at face value in a position where she appears to be helping Town while working against one of its members. This game, I've frankly been an easy target. Between a bit of personal confusion as to how to play this version of Mafia and my odd phrasing which upon reflection, I can understand, led me to be somewhat suspect it was easy enough for her to build up a case and start pushing for it. Marushii actually pointed out the problems with me first if I recall correctly, which gives her automatic support and a springboard from which to base her case off. In such an event, she slips through the cracks nicely and her support of the Splodge lynch puts her in a position to basically say "Oopsie, I made a mistake" after she lynches me wrongly. These three quotes demonstrate what I would argue to be her distancing in action, and it's a job well done and I firmly believe that she's capable enough of pulling off a successful distance. It's subtle, but effective. So, here's the million dollar question to ask. If Cal is scum, then who's with her? I'll sound like a broken record at this rate but to start with I call upon Tribbles to be one potential partner. Now, why Tribbles with Cal? Well, it's down to weak opinions on either from both sides. It's as if Tribbles doesn't actually seem to look at the Cal case at all and glosses over it, dodging the issue entirely. Most of us who have posted during the time have said at least something about it but she hasn't. I'd say that the two of them could be considered partners because right now they seem quite separate and can work towards the overall goals of the Mafia while having a silent connection. Correct me if I've missed something, but Cal also doesn't talk about Tribbles all that much. There's a mutual ignoring of one another I believe and it'll pay off later on. They don't appear to be lovers, they haven't expressed strong opinions on each other. They also complement each other nicely. Cstar has said it herself - She doesn't post that much, it's how she plays. With Cal posting fairly frequently and being so aggressive, it's easy for her to overshadow a quieter teammate such as Cstar. For reference purposes, Cstar's admission of staying to the sides. Going back to this one because Korosu could be it. Korosu is new and to be honest, I don't feel that they're completely Town. You might be tempted to say that this is because they rebuked something I said, but that could actually be part of it. If we consider that Cal is actually a guilty person and the Mafia in their day chat decided to pick me, then a simple comment from Korosu telling me off is actually pretty believable as its a foot in the door to say they're willing to come out against me and it does fit in with Cal. But, how does that fit in with Cal saying that Korosu seems suspicious? The fact that she never actually acted on it. It dawned on me that she and Splodge could have been on the same team for the same reason, they're both in the same quote! She offhandedly mentioned them but it gets quickly overlooked because just after that she targets none other than myself. She puts the distance in, and they're suddenly separate. This is the only mention that I could find of Cal in Korosu's posts. This is distancing the two and it's a noncommittal questioning. Of course, there is the case that Korosu could simply be new and trying to get into the game, even if it is a weak commitment. But we do get something about Tribbles here. It's possibly a bit of distancing themselves, I'm wiling to accept that as a possibility here. There's not much commitment here either. Tribbles is a safe option they say, but they don't go into it any further than that. We can see here that once again, Korosu goes back to Tribbles and Splodge. Once again, not much happens. Korosu doesn't go for a push, but makes some basic comments about how Tribbles behaved a little weirdly. Not going to say anything about Judge yet, I'm seriously thinking about him right now though. Unfortunately this is where I run out of steam, for now at least. As energised as I am, this is a past midnight theory and it'll probably need some review and I'll need to go through further to figure out who our other person is in the Splodge/Tribbles/Korosu/Calxiyn group. I don't believe anyone has given the three listed here a strong Town reading yet either, which is somewhat telling. What I do want to emphasise is that Tribbles does seem to be a common factor in things and even one of her potential teammates has commented on it, possibly as a means of disguising their relationship. I've been suspicious of Tribbles from the start and we've all seemed to have given her at least some thought and I think that even more needs to be given at this present time.[DOUBLEPOST=1470008971][/DOUBLEPOST]I'm signing off for the night now.
Yes you are :P At this point, what am I supposed to say? You've obviously both got it out for me and well, you're dead set on it. I've said my piece. If you guys think this is the way to win then... So be it? I'd ask for a day more to prove my innocence, to build up more cases and present something else meaningful but by the looks of it I'm not getting that. Obviously, I know that you're making a mistake. I can't present anyone to you yet - There's an absence of things to build. Given time and people posting I promise I will get cases going. What I will say is this - I think that you're going in too hard too fast Cal. So fast that it's almost suspect. You appear to be trying to push a lynch already and you're not even taking the time to consider other options. Considering the way you've been acting thus far, I'm going to match you. ##Vote:Calxiyn I don't think she has our best interests at heart, and if she's guilty then killing me is an easy way to kill off not only a Townie, but whoever I am lovered to however many there are. I urge you all to reconsider Cal. We haven't even started looking at the quieter players and the people who haven't posted yet. You're awfully quick to accuse me and get on my case without giving a thought to any of the other players. Your approaches are not conducive to our efforts.[DOUBLEPOST=1469984755][/DOUBLEPOST]As a side note, going out to a restaurant at 7:30, may or may not post after I'm back. Depends how I'm feeling. Game is pretty stressful so I might give it a rest for a night and take some time to think. Or I might come back and do something. We'll see how it goes. Just letting you all know that I'm gone for a bit really.
