1. Creepy 2. Horn dog hooked on speed 3. Overly honest, unafraid of ruining others' opinions of myself That about sums it up...
Final Fantasy VIII (8) Why? Everything. The gameplay; loved it The story; loved it The level and skill system; loved it I can hoenstly say it's the only FF I've played that I can play over and over and enjoy it.
Little sidenote: I would laugh if our bodies WERE run by Gremlins that were so small we mistook them for moving plasma or somesuch rubbish. Well, Cin, I must say you're getting a little better at saying " I believe " rather than " this is how it is ". xD I'm thankful for that, at least. Honestly, though, my ideas aren't warped simply because they differ greatly from everyone else's.... Actually, okay yeah that probly does make them warped. But I believe I'm right and that's the only thing that matters to me. =P Now, I'd like to state that nothing we have "proven" is 100%, there's always a chance we're wrong. Look at light; we thought that light was constant, but then we found black holes that actually suck in light, making it not-so-constant. There's always gonna be -something- to add a little doubt to our "proof". Even to evolution, which by the way is still a theory.. Just a really, really strong one.
This is funny... I'm actually doing a paper for my Senior Project on " How have women gained an edge in today's society as a whole? " Anyone wanna take my poll? xD I still need like 19 guys and 20 girls to take it... But yeah, I've always believed that we don't owe the women anything, because it wasn't them that had to suffer.. Well, unless it's the elderly. We do owe them, since they DID suffer. But today's generations didn't have to suffer through the lack of women voting, or the disrespect or segregation. They dont even know what that's like, so why should we give them anything extra? I -wish- women were treated just like men, but in some cases I honestly believe that's impossible... Nonetheless, most of the advantages women have over men are due to either their bodies or their femininity (is that a real word? Sounds cool..)
I didn't say that is why I hold my faith, I said that is why I put little into science... I figured you'd understand I'm quite faithful by now. xD
You might want to go tell the others about that, too. Us believers in God aren't the only ones pushing our ideals. I remember Cin saying several times that he/she knows there is no God and that there is no supreme power in existance. I try not to push my beliefs, though, and I do try my best to note that they are only MY beliefs, not fact. I think that Science is as much a belief as Religion is, the only difference is that there are more things we've found to match up with Science. However, I also believe that Religion and Science can intertwine with one another. For instance; God could have -started- evolution and perhaps we took the bible's creation a little too literally. Or perhaps all of our links using DNA to put every creature into a single evolutionary tree are simply coincidence, and we really have nothing relative to them in terms of creation. Both Religion and Science are formed of speculation, assumptions and similarities. Religion is also filled with speculation, assumptions and similarities. There are just fewer similarities and more speculation and assumptions. But I still prefer to hold fast in my faith, and put little into Science. Why? Because if religion is right, and I hold my faith, I'll be sent to paradise. If I hold my faith in religion, but science is right, it makes no difference.
I'm gonna skip like, the last 3 pages since it's all either anti-religion posts or anti-science posts... No debating... To answer Darky's last post to me, I mean that the only difference between Science and Religion is that Science deals with the human world, human existance and human creation. Religion dabbles in all of that, but focusses on extraordinary themes like the spiritual world, death and life. Science is claimed to be fact ONLY because it matches what a few smart people have said, and it's easier to understand than something spiritual. We cannot disprove religion, but we cannot prove it, so we choose Science over religion simply because it's easier. I do hope you understand what I mean. xD I'm having difficulty explaining at this hour... Basically, I don't believe in Science. I believe in Religion. To me, Religion is fact, and Science is just our way of explaining things we don't comprehend. It's a crutch for us to lean on.
Actually, Satan was described as a handsome, young-looking angel. Then again describe as having 9 heads or 9 hearts or some such thing like that. I'm not actually sure where the goat thing came from, or if it's even in the bible. The way I explain the rest of that is simple; they were all talking about the same thing. But the bible supposedly uses God's own descriptions, in order to clear up any misconceptions. I also imagine many of the "Gods" could be likened to Angels from the bible. I'll go into more detail when I'm less tired.
I don't see how Germany or France have female leaders.... You do know that the Queen is nothing but a symbol. She has practically no political power whatsoever. >.>' And, I imagine when someone says "women cannot fill the position as well as men" they are talking about the majority of women, which is quite true. We simply don't have near as many women who are in a political career.
Trusting in Science is all a belief in human logic. We have not "proven" anything using science, we've simply all come to similar conclusions dealing with "scientific" issues. I choose to not put much faith in science, as, to me, it's all a series of conclusions that we -think- are true.
Technically we're at fault for having to go through sin and hardship. Thank Adam and Eve. >.> I imagine most know the story, but I'll give the short version. God told them not to eat of the tree, they ended up being tempted by Satan and ate. They gained the knowledge that they were naked, that there was sin, and as punishment God put them on Earth, out of Paradise, and made them work and wear clothing. Etc. etc. etc...
Don't see why. ;D I like the idea of going to heaven much better than dissipating and turning into blank matter. And the Noah's Ark thing did happen, that's been proven. Whether it WAS Noah or his Ark can't be proven. It's all speculation. But it happened. ;D Little add-on: mind you, I imagine we'll never be able to find out if everyone really did die in the flood. Coulda been a tad exaggerated. ;D Another add-on to answer last poster's add-on: "Proven" is a word that means a majority of scientists decided that was the best possible explanation. Just because a few chemicals match up or they THINK they know how to date back millions/billions of years, doesn't mean it is fact. It's still speculation. In science, you can never prove anything. Only disprove.
Noah's arc and the great flood. Chi-ca-chow! To answer above poster; where is the proof the world was made by rocks crashing into eachother?
Honestly, the whole point of Christianity is that you cannot prove it nor disprove it. Not matter how much evidence you have that something else created the universe, there's always an opening, a singular possibility that it was God. Christians are meant to rely on faith, not science, to prove to themselves and others that God exists. If a person's faith can be swayed just because some old guy who knows alot of big words says there was evidence that apparently leads to us coming from monkies, I pity them. Now, onto the whole idea that God cannot be Omnipotent. You say he cannot lift an unliftable rock, because then it wouldn't be unliftable. That's not entirely true. To men and mortals the rock is unliftable, but God is a whole other being, a whole other part of existance, that completely annihilates the barriers we humans have set up and named "Science" and "Physics". The idea of a God is that we, as humans, can do no more but praise and worship him. There is no hope to fully or even partially understand him. Now, some people may question why God would create humans, a creature that can sin and break all the rules set forth by God. I believe this is where the phrase "God is a boy with a magnifying glass" comes into play. God created us, because he wanted to. There is no grander purpose other than to allow us to live. He is God, he does not require anything nor does he need to have some perfect beings roaming about. He will exist for all eternity and can do whatever he damn well pleases. Heh. Honestly, I don't think God would need any reason whatsoever for creating us. Who are we to judge him? Bottomline, even if there isn't a God, it doesn't hurt to believe. If you believe and there is no God, you won't know the difference when you die. But if there is a God and you don't believe, you rot and burn in hell for the rest of forever...
Which evolution are you talking about, here? There are several types, the most common being Natural Selection and Common Descent... >.> Natural Selection does not conflict with religion at all, whereas Common Descent does. (In some interpretations, anyway.)
MightyMighty, here's what you do.... Agree with her. Constantly. People who insult you cannot STAND when you simply agree. Example: I often get called gay by my own sister, so I turn around, slap my rear and say " You know it, girlfriend! " with a slight flick of my wrist. Y'know, like the stereotypical gay man. Shuts her up just about every time. Seriously, though, I've not encountered an insult where this -doesn't- work. Even if it's the most crude thing, like " you do naughty things to your mother! " All you have to do is remove any fear that people will take you seriously. But seriously, some of the stuff I'm readin here confuxles me. See, in my school there's not a whole lot of... any of this. It's a surprisingly positive environment where pretty much everyone gets along. I mean, sure, there's some racists or people that make fun or people that are complete jerks, but they don't last very long. Hell, when I was a freshman and a senior slammed me into a locker, 4 guys I didn't even know ganged up on him in my defense. I dunno, either I'm being very sheltered to the real world, or some people overexaggerate.
Ha.. I sometimes ocasionally play it in school. Name's "Chabbeh" on there, without the quotations.. I'm rarely on, and I'm horribly low level.. Like, 27. But he's a mage, and they level up a little awkwardly.
That's what antimatter is for, my friend. Read the article noted above. =P Besides, as soon as we figure out how to make titanium a stable metal all by its lonesome, the engines will weigh much, much less.
If I had to vote democrat, I'd vote for Obama. But personally, if the demo's set Hillary as their front runner, they have no chance. She's commiting political suicide practically once a week.
It's just a product of chance... It's not like he's some super genius. O.o
