I guess I'm just one of those people with "too high expectations." There are a lot of things that they could've improved and I would've appreciated; but those don't really matter anymore since it's highly doubtful that Square will revisit these again. This rerelease of the games is much better, I believe, in quality than the likes of the rerelease that the Silent Hill games got, that's for sure; but after buying the original games (and getting them as presents sometimes) over the last decade, I don't feel like it's worth the investment to buy KH1/Re:CoM/"Movie" all over again. Some additions are welcome (shifted/updated controls/menu and KH1:FM in English [was more of a selling point before the fan-made patch started taking off..]), but a good chunk of them I'm either not interested in (achievements/themes) or downright don't like (the "movie" that is Days or Ansem's model, among others). Those are just my two cents. Unrelated note: What employee in their right mind outright deletes/loses the source code for a highly popular and profitable game? No one backed that up somewhere? A lot of hours were probably wasted trying to tear apart the finished product. EDIT: About the "default/fish faces" that Square left in KH1. They remade all/most of the Days cutscenes from scratch. From SCRATCH; I doubt that going in and making a few simple facial expressions to get rid of part of the MOUNTAIN of fish-faces in the first game would've been an unwelcomed addition.
Some people are just stupid, I suppose.
It would also seem that Vexen, Lexeaus, and Marluxia's cries are missing as well. And Xion's from Days if you want to be technical about it; but those are fairly low quality anyway. I have them all (excluding Xion) backed up on my main computer if you'd like me to share them; it'd save some time digging through files.
Personally, the only Keyblade I would want to replace is the Metal Chocobo. It's so boring to look at. Maybe someone could edit off Ansem-Riku's Keyblade and have it replace Oblivion or something, lol.
I might have to head in for early for work tomorrow, so I trust that whatever gets discussed will be mentioned here? Step-by-step guides, who is working on what, etc. Hopefully the thread won't be filled with "how i do dis" questions anymore.
My guess is that everyone now speaks German.
I'm sure it could handle some texture mods, but nothing gigantic.
Yes it's free.
Theoretically, yes. Morally and legally, no.
I'd like to actually contribute to this; I believe my Skype is fablousven, I haven't used it in quite some time. If there's anything I can do to actually help aside from pitch ideas, I want to do it. I don't mind if it's repetitive; I edit wikis for fun, ffs.
I think the BBS Sora skin is still broken. The blinking issue persists. Kairi is broken as well. I suspect that the Riku textures are also broken.
Most you could probably do is remake him:
The Hollow Bastion ards start with "pc". Princess Castle.
I was under the idea that the patch is merely being tested on an emulator for the sake of not wasting countless disks, and was intended to be PS2 compatible.
I'm trying to give Xemnas the updated coat from BBS but I feel like I'm ruining the quality of the new one more than I'm updating the old one. Included are all the textures so far, including backups of the original coat, YMX's coat from BBS, and my frankensteining of the two. So far "done" are the zipper, the main body of the coat (not including arms or hood, also the reason why I think I'm ruining it), and the small decorative pulls at the top (literally a copy-paste from the BBS texture).
Oh goodness no, I much prefer yours. While my version did have the orange eyes yours came with the full bodysuit upgrade. We can share credit but please don't remove yours. I love it. And any game you say? Hmmm...
I guess I can delete my version now then.. :( I'm glad that someone who knows what they're doing got it to work properly though. Kudos.
But adding a new slot to the bottom is possible? It wouldn't look too bad, I don't think. Here's a mockup image: View attachment 36541 If the menu as a whole could be moved up so that the menu doesn't go off-screen it wouldn't look that bad at all. A bit on the tall side, yes, but it would work.
Carry on. :| I would've sworn that I had downloaded the new tools. Sorry to waste your time. I did notice that your new tools saved the model as a ".mdls-NEW" file instead of just ".mdls".
Trying to insert the texture you shared resulted in this error for me: View attachment 36525
