Kairi bashing is so funny. But then most female character bashing is hilarious anyway. SPOILER Anyway, she might be a mage type. Or she might start out on her own and level up to be as tough as her friends as she goes on. It would be rather silly if she became almighty and powerful all of a sudden, because that would be unrealistic. I can see her as training to fight a lot as she said near the end of KH II that she didn't want to be left behind this time. END SPOILER
Spoilers from the Kingdom Hearts games and Daughter of the Empire by Wurts and Feist. http://www.askoxford.com/concise_oed/wimp?view=uk Here is the definition of a wimp: 'A weak and cowardly person'. Physically, Kairi and Namine are both weak. I'll agree with that. But they aren't cowards. Therefore, they aren't wimps. And Namine did help Sora. She did so by rescuing Kairi and restoring Sora's memories. She also helped wake him up by trying to reveal Roxas of his origins and get him to merge with Sora. If Kairi was a wimp, then she would not have gone "This time, I'll protect you" to Heartless Sora and then covered him to protect him. If Kairi was a wimp, she would not wanted to go with Sora back to Hollow Bastion. If she was a wimp, she wouldn't have refused to leave Hollow Bastion after Sora became a Heartless, because, "I can't leave them behind!" If she was a wimp, then when she saw Axel, she would have either run to her family and friends, shouting "Help! There's a creepy man!" or she might have cooperated with him, begging him not to hurt her. If she was a wimp, then she wouldn't have got away from Axel when he kidnapped her. She would have meekly agreed to go with him. If she was a wimp, we would see her breaking down in prison. But no, while she was depressed (which is not unreasonable - she's been kidnapped by menacing strangers), she did not break down or go mad with fear. If she was a wimp, she would not have been prepared to fight Saix. She would have either cowered behind Namine or ran away or agreed to cooperate with Saix, begging him not to hurt her or Sora. If she was a wimp, she might not have even chosen to stick by Riku. Riku has not only turned into Xehanort but he's done all sorts of horrible things in the first game. Kairi's heart was able to see past that, forgive him and want him back. If she was a wimp, she would not have jumped off the balcony. If she was a wimp, she wouldn't have even fought off the Heartless with her new Keyblade. And Namine wouldn't have rescued Kairi or been prepared to fight Saix if she was a wimp. Nor would she have defied Marluxia or even attempted to stop Larxene from attacking Sora. Have you read 'Daughter of the Empire'? It's about Mara of the Acoma, the daughter of a powerful noble. In her culture, men have the superior position. Her father is the head of the family and she has a brother, so she isn't expected to take over the Acoma estate. However, one day, the Lord of the Minawabi, who is plotting to destroy the Acoma family, manages to send Mara's father and brother to their deaths, Mara has to become the head of her family and save it from ruin. At the end of the book, the Lord of the Minawabi is forced to kill himself, because of Mara's actions. Mara only uses a weapon once, which she isn't very good with. She also has no magical powers. She relies on her soldiers to protect her from danger and she never has to dress up in armour to fight. She also does get into trouble, and her soldiers have to rescue her/protect her. However, she is not a wimp. She achieves her aims by her charisma, her intelligence, her determination and her rather risky decisions in politics. While she does not always make the right decision, some of her plans do work. Mara is also very good at hiding her feelings in front of others. She never has to pick up a sword, don armour and wield magic powers to prove herself. So no, Mara is not a wimp, despite the fact that she is physically weak. How does that make them wimps though? It only proves to me that they are physically weak. End spoilers
I have only Volume 1 of the manga (which I haven't finished yet) but I have just finished all 26 episodes of the anime series. I loved it. It was so cute, light-hearted, amusing (especially Shigure) and touching, I loved the characters and I was rather sad when it was over. I really want to finish the manga series now.
Okay, think about these situations for a second... Major spoilers Namine? Where was she at the beginning? She did seem pathetic at the beginning of COM, but that's for two reasons: 1. She did want to replace Kairi with her, being lonely and jealous of Kairi's relationship of Sora (but she did regret it later). 2. She was being ordered to alter Sora's memories with a nasty man with a huge scythe (Marluxia), a backstabbing, manipulative man (Axel), who has killed Vexen, who was one of his own comrades by slicing him up the back/sending a fireball at him (I can't remember how Vexen died) and a sadistic woman who casts lightning and throws knives. Namine has no weapon and seemingly no fighting experience and can only draw. I wouldn't be surprised that she seemed 'pathetic' - the poor girl wouldn't have been able to do much in her situation because she wouldn't stand a chance against Marluxia. She started correcting her mistakes when Axel gave her the chance to (as he told her that she could leave her room in Castle Oblivion without him stopping her). She stands up against Marluxia, refusing to erase Sora's memories. This takes guts for her to do, because Marluxia could punish her. Namine also chose to rescue Kairi from prison, knowing that she would likely lose her seperate existence by doing so. It's self-sacrificial for her, so her decision to rescue Kairi would also take a lot of guts. If Namine was a wimp, then she wouldn't have done this. Furthermore, she stands up against Saix - if she was a wimp, she would have run away from Saix or surrendered to him, begging him not to hurt her or Kairi or hidden behind Kairi. She and Kairi would have fought against Saix with their bare hands, if Riku hadn't saved them - both of them had no weapons, battle experience or seemingly useful magic powers against Saix - once again, their actions took guts. Kairi? It says in the manual that she appears weak, but has a strong will. And this is demonstrated in several parts of the series. Kairi decided to protect Heartless Sora, at the risk of being attacked by the other Heartless. No weapon, no useful magic powers, seemingly no battle experience, yet she still decides to protect him. If she was a wimp, she wouldn't have done that. She also tried to persuade Sora to let her go with him to Hollow Bastion and defeat Ansem. Sora persuades her to stay behind - after they argue a little bit, he says that she would be in his way. Kairi is a normal fourteen year old girl here, apart from the fact that she is a Princess of Heart. She has no weapon and no battle experience. She understands this and stays behind. This isn't her being a wimp. She's seen Sora's point and realises that she wouldn't be much help since she'd probably get attacked by another Heartless and lose her heart again - there was not much point her coming with him. Instead, she gives him the Oathkeeper, since it's the best she can do. Kairi also jumps through that portal. She had a choice then. She could either leave the island with Axel, run back to the islands or follow Pluto through the portal (and she doesn't know where it leads or what dangers she could face). She chooses to go through the portal because she doesn't trust Axel. Once again, her action takes a lot of emotional strength. Axel kidnaps Kairi. However, he later says to Sora that "she got away from me. After that, Saix caught her". Therefore, Kairi isn't a pushover and Saix was probably more forceful than Axel. And again, when she is in prison, she has no magic attacks, no battle experience and no weapon. What could she do in her situation? Her captors are several creepy men in black hoods who are not human. They have evil powers and can control other evil monsters (and some of those evil monsters could be lurking around corridors). There was not a lot she could do without being killed. She escaped when Namine presented her with the opportunity. And again, she chose to stand up against Saix. I've told you before that doing that takes great emotional strength. And Kairi jumped off the balcony to save Sora. While not a clever thing to do, as she had no weapon or magic attacks or healing spells, she chose to do that. Once more, her action takes guts. If she was a wimp, she would have either panicked, told Riku to go and help him or told Riku to protect her from the Heartless. So, in conclusion? No. Kairi and Namine aren't wimps. They were incredibly brave for characters in their situations - I wouldn't have taken such actions if I were in their shoes. And since when is getting kidnapped and not being able to fight automatically equal a wimpy character? End Spoilers And if you are a yaoi fan who adores uke males, yet hates female characters for being 'weak and pathetic', do remember that a lot of uke males behave in very similar ways to the 'weak, pathetic and wimpy' heroines - often worse.
I like the threesome. :( * doesn't care if people think her gross for it * And I think that Sora/Kairi, Riku/Sora and Riku/Kairi can all work. Sora/Kairi - Actually, I don't think that Riku would feel left out. I think that he's the type who can go for a very long time (perhaps for the rest of his life) without a relationship and be perfectly happy that way. He has a really insecure personality, so a relationship could actually make him feel uncomfortable, because he might be afraid that he'd hurt somebody. Perhaps Riku is even asexual.. Riku/Sora - Well, Kairi might be shocked. Perhaps angry and sad as well, but I'd think she would deal with it, accept their relationship and still be best friends with them - but not to the extent of her being a rabid yaoi fangirl. And it can work, but I don't think it would be all rainbows/candy/lollipops/etc. because of Riku's insecurity. Riku/Kairi - could work, although again, because of Riku's insecurity, it wouldn't be completely happy. Again, I think Sora might be shocked and probably hurt but he'd eventually get over it.

I got Riku. Which means I have a lot of rabid fangirls. :( (I adore Riku - but I'm not very fond of the majority of his fanbase).
Mine are Dark Knight, Floral Fallal, White Mage and Warrior.
I like both, but unfortunately, I'm allergic to cats. Cats may be less affectionate, but they are usually much cleaner in the house and they don't roll in anything dirty. Dogs are playful and affectionate. But they do like dirt, which sometimes is a really bad thing, for reasons that I would not talk about on the forum.
Riku: Kairi, I really hate you, you * censored * (Contrary to what some of the rabid yaoi fangirls think/wish, he will not say that)
Actually, according to a Nomura interview, quite a few Japanese gamers preferred the English voices when the first Final Mix came out. But personally, I really don't think that you can tell which is better unless you are very good at both languages. The Japanese will have good and rubbish actors, just like we do - and they will fuss over their actors just like we fuss over ours as well. I really wouldn't care which language the voices are in - I've had Japanese acting in Ico and the Breath of Fire series. I might prefer English acting since I can tell more easily whether the actors are good or not, but I wouldn't mind having Japanese ones.
Kingdom Hearts was made because Square and Disney found out that they both had an office in the same building. Therefore, without Disney, Kingdom Hearts wouldn't have existed. So I think that we should keep Disney. Sure, Square might be running out of ideas for Disney worlds, but Disney is the one of the main reasons that KH came about in the first place.
Some of you might know me as Daisy the Sorceress. I joined KH-Vids some months ago (can't remember when) although I didn't post that much so I doubt most of you would recognise me. I'm an English uni student, studying Spanish and History at a university on the coast of Wales. I like video games (especially RPGS and Kingdom Hearts - otherwise I wouldn't be here! :p ), reading, fanfic writing, playing and composing music, collecting candles, learning languages (hope to go to Spain or a Spanish speaking colony during my third year of studying!) and shopping. Also trying to do a 100 fic challenge on Riku and Sora's friendship (non-romantic) although I'm a bit stuck on it though.
