None of us have played the game, so how would we know if it's worth buying or not or if there is any point to it? It still seems to be in the early stages of development and we know very little about it. The only problem I have is the possibility that it might only be released in Japan.
I've pretty much given up on waiting for the art book now. What are they trying to do? Add more artwork or something?
Spoiler Quote from Jiminy's journal: Riku was actually the rightful master of the Keyblade, but once he chose darkness over light, the weapon chose Sora instead. So it seems to say that Riku was the original Keyblade Master but the Keyblade went to Sora, because of Riku's decision to turn to darkness and destroy the island. I'm sure there was an interview with Nomura that confirmed this somewhere. End spoiler
Spoilers I noticed something... Apparently, before you fight Terra (I have Final Mix but I haven't fought Terra yet and my knowledge of Japanese is extremely limited, although I have watched that scene), he says that Sora isn't the one he chose. Nomura also said in Another Report that there was a hint about Riku being a potential Keyblade wielder and I think that hint is from Terra, who initially mistook Sora being the one that he chose. For all we know, that even might explain why Xehanort's Heartless chose Riku as a vessel - perhaps he somehow knew his potential because he chose him. I'm probably not making much sense here. I haven't watched the Birth By Sleep ending either, which may weaken my theory * stubbornly refuses to watch it until she obtains it by completing Final Mix *. End spoilers
My guess is that if Riku does have a playable mode, it would be like another Reverse/Rebirth - but in 358/2 days. If anything, I think that 'Birth By Sleep' is probably set before Kairi came to the island (I think that one or more of the Princesses were kidnapped years ago and time stopped for them because their world got destroyed - didn't time stop for the Destiny Islands inhabitants when their world was destroyed as well? I think that was in the 'Another Side, Another Story' reports). So I doubt that Riku would be playable in Birth By Sleep. But I hope that Terra isn't the exact personality of Riku. He'd be a little boring if he was (unless there was a really good reason for it).
I like him because I like his optimistic, lively and slightly childish personality which I find adorable. Also, although he is naive, he has great emotional strength, charisma and confidence (which makes up for his weaknesses).
Major spoilers From GameFAQS. Kairi: The one who was with Riku and me all the time---we played together on that island. His voice always used to be there...but now it's gone. I can't think of his face, or his name. I feel awful about it. So I told myself--I'm not going to the island until I remember everything about him. She also says later, "You and Riku never came home, so I came looking for you". End spoilers
Xehanort/Darkness. Don't need to explain this one. :D
It sucks that the KH novel is delayed. :( Oh well. At least Disney have confirmed that it is at least coming out sometime.
Spoilers I'd like a kiss from Sora and Kairi but not yet. They have feelings for each other, but I don't really think that they are actually 'together' yet - as in dating. I'd like the romance to develop a bit more first. As for Riku getting a girlfriend? It might be interesting, although I personally think that he doesn't need one. I think that he would be the type to go on for a long time without a partner and be happy that way as long as he still has friends - in some ways, because of his insecurity, he might feel uncomfortable being in a relationship because he could be worried that he might hurt somebody. I think that if he did have a girlfriend, she'd probably have a difficult time dealing with him. End spoilers
My favourite? Spoiler Sora imagining himself dancing with Kairi when seeing Jack Skellington and Sally dance - it was so innocent and cute. I think that was the scene that really got me into the Sora/Kairi pairing. End spoiler
Those are just a bunch of individual obsessed psychos. I have quite a few friends who have played FF VII and are perfectly sane people. But some people will use any excuse to ban video games. It was like the Manhunt incident when that teenage boy murdered his friend (I think that ever since, you have to give proof of your age when you're in GAME), despite the fact that the game is an 18 rated game and therefore the boy shouldn't have been playing it unless his parents knew him well enough to trust him. But if the article was ages ago, then hopefully FF VII has been left alone.
And then the Kairi haters getting killed by Sora and Riku. Joking aside, if she came back to life afterwards, then I think that Square would be able to kill her. Hercules spoilers Meg died and she was the heroine of Hercules. However, Hercules found a way to resurrect her. End spoilers
They might make one eventually. There were Riku action figures when the first KH game came out. Namine isn't made yet which made me a little disappointed. My guess is that Riku might pop out sometime after all the Sora Drive forms have been on sale, but then who knows?
I thought so. I'm sure I saw you on the khfanficrants and the naminexriku communities. I don't think I saw you on Y!Gallery or Deviant Art though (but then I don't think I visit Y!Gallery much, anyway).
tasogarehime, are you on LJ by any chance? I think I recognised your username somewhere. But anyway, I enjoy Axel/Roxas and Roxas/Riku. Also, does the Sora/Riku/Kairi threesome (sort of) count as a slash pairing? I'm rather picky about slashfics that I like. 'Awkward Moment' by Splat On The Floor is such a cute and funny little one-shot slashfic. I think that the pairing is supposed to be a surprise pairing, so I'm not sure if I should tell you what it is. However, it is really amusing and really IC, without having to resort to seme and uke stereotypes. The fic is K+, probably because of a bit of swearing. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3440807/1/Awkward_Moment
Does being Riku/Sora/Kairi fan count? Sora/Riku is okay. I'll enjoy a fic with the pairing if it's good. But no, I don't bash Kairi - she's an okayish character. She isn't my favourite but I can't find any good reason to hate her. I imagine that if the two boys did get together, she'd be (understandably) angry. However, I think that she'd have the strength to get over it and remain best friends with the two boys. And it's amusing to see people who despise characters for seemingly no proper reason which doesn't relate to the fact that the characters are female and are in the way of their favourite pairings. Unfortunately, I used to do that but I thankfully grew out of it. But I think that Kairi being portrayed as a rabid yaoi fangirl is just as bad. There, she is just reduced to a self-insert. Also, I don't think that Sora and Riku would want to hang around her if she was like that. I think that she'd support the two (once she gets used to them going out) but she wouldn't be a rabid yaoi fangirl who is always taking pictures of them and watching them while they are having private moments. She'd respect their privacy.
This is hard to decide...I don't really hate any pairing. I will try to read a fic with any pairing that is written well. I suppose, one pairing I'm not fond of is Ansem/Riku, but I don't dislike it enough not to read one in case it's actually good.
SPOILERS I think that her role was sort of going from 'damsel-in-distress' to somebody who can help her friends. If you talk to her a few times near the end of KH II, she talks about how she doesn't want to be left behind. If Kairi was useless, then she would have spent the entire time of KH II waiting on the island and getting on with her life. However, she gave Sora the Oathkeeper chain - a weapon in battle. She also wrote the message in a bottle which eventually got Sora and Riku out of the world of darkness. Furthermore, she reunited Sora and Riku. And because she is Namine's other, Namine was not able to completely fade into nothing. Furthermore, she turned Heartless Sora back into a human. And she has some personality. Not a huge amount, but it's there. She seems cheerful. She is also incredibly brave in rather dangerous situations. I think that if Square gave her some noticeable flaws, she'd be a great character. So, she's pretty Sueish, but we don't know exactly what Square plans for her. KH II was mostly about Sora and Riku's reunion but I think that Square cared enough about Kairi not to want to leave her out. And when people say that Kairi's Keyblade is girly - yep, Sora wielded much more masculine Keyblades than that. :sarcasm: I mean, look at the Rumbling Rose Keyblade which was not only purple, but also had a rose on the handle and a rose on the Keychain. Or the Divine Rose, which has a rose on the blade and (I think) creates pretty petals every time you hit somebody. Or the Star Seeker (I think that's it's name), which is purple and has pretty stars. Or what about Riku's Keyblade with the pretty wing on the end? And Sora? He has some of a mix in his personality. He's a bit goofy and naive, but he has great emotional strength - he is very charismatic, optimistic and good at cheering others up. END SPOILERS
Major spoilers for the KH series and for the Metal Gear series I liked how Kairi wasn't automatically a huge expert when she first got the Keyblade. So rare in a story. As I said, if they want her to fight, I want her to train first or at least be somewhat sloppy if she first gets the Keyblade, but then her determination would make her better in time. And yes, there are other ways to promote her bravery - although unfortunately, not many people realise that not being able to fight =/= pathetic and useless. Many also don't realise that getting kidnapped =/= pathetic and useless. Otacon from the Metal Gear series never fought, but at times he can be incredibly brave. Sure, he wet himself when he first met Solid Snake and he cries at least once every game he is in (although these reasons are very good ones - often to do with a friend or relative of his dying). However, he shows incredible strength in some really dire situations. He was brave enough to rescue the hostages from the Plant, despite the fact that he was mourning for his stepsister's death. In the good ending of the first MGS game, when the enemy's headquarters are about to be bombed, he chooses to stay inside to help Snake and Meryl get out - which takes a lot of guts to do. However, in the bad ending, he gives emotional support to Snake, who is mourning for Meryl and when the place starts to explode, he goes, "It's started. These guys...seems like they only hurry when they're destroying things. Good. Let em' destroy it. But they can't destroy the human spirit." That is bravery. Namine did some brave things as well. She stood up against Marluxia near the end of Chain of Memories. She also tried to help Kairi at the risk of losing her own independent existence - so rescuing Kairi from prison was a bit self-sacrificing, which she'd have to be at least somewhat brave to do. End spoilers
