No. What they do it they make it so it doesn't cover up the black part of your eye (lulz, i forgot what it's called), which is the part you see out of.
I need new ones. Mine somehow got in the washing machine... I want red ones next time. xD
You don't feel them. Except if you accidently poke yourself in the eye putting them in. That hurts.
You don't need to use the reaction commands to fight them, really. You can just ignore the triangle button. And I think it's more fun with the reaction commands, personally.
