Well, if you look at Naminé in CoM and Roxas in 358/2 Days and compare them to what they look like in KH2, you'll see a difference. About the theory, keep in mind that Sora was already 4 years old in BBS, and that Nobodies (and Heartless for that matter) didn't exist at that time. Plus, I don't think Unbirths existed anymore after BBS.
Uh, dude, it was released in English yesterday...
It's just been confirmed that all three handheld games and Mobile will be featured at Jump Festa 2009 this December 20, 2008. There will be a trailer and demo for each game. Along with that news came this new screenshot of Coded: In other related news, the English version of Re:Chain of Memories releases tomorrow!
Coded takes place after KH2. Jiminy checks his two journals (the one from KH1 and the one from KH2). He comes across a message he didn't write: "We must return to free them from their torment". This wories Jiminy and he runs off to tell the king. The king also appears worried then says that only "he" is the one who can solve this. "He" turns out to be Sora, but not the real Sora, a digital one. You see, the king thought that the only way to trace the source of this message, he needs to thoroughly go through both journals, and the only way to do that is to send a virtual Sora to redo all the adventures. This isn't played out like CoM, where you just go through the memories - Coded reveals a ton of unsolved mysteries such as what Mickey, Riku, and Pluto were thinking and doing during KH1. Each time the virtual Sora clears a world, taking out the "bugs" (viruses) in each "world", the mystery of the message seems to deepen. Though there are Heartless in Coded, the real enemies are the bugs, but the main villains are the ones who created the message. Soon, a new message comes up that says "Their torment has been lessened" (as seen in one of the latest trailers). Nomura has stated that these messages and their source is of great importance to the whole KH storyline. In one of the Coded trailers, the words "A forbidden secret..." come up. Nomura also said that this "forbidden secret" is not something to be ignored, and that it is tied to the messages, and that it may greatly affect each main character's destinies (Sora, Riku, Kairi, etc.). Nomura says that even though Coded may be on the phone, it shouldn't be treated lightly, as it is still part of the KH storyline. Remember that each of the three new games not only clears up mysteries scattered throughout the KH storyline so far, but all three of them also CONNECT to, according to Nomura, "a new KH game sooner or later" (most likely KH3).
This topic has been brought up once before, actually. It's possible that when Terra mentioned people with "hearts of pure light", Aqua became thoughtful about what that would mean - a "heart of pure light", therefore putting her hand to her chest, emphasising her curiosity. Don't you see quite a few people putting their hands on their chests in KH, especially when discussing heart-related things? Also, we already know that: Kairi (Japanese) is to "sea" (English) as Aqua (Latin) is to "water" (English).
Just my two cents: I've finished both the GBA and Japanese PS2 version quite a few times, but I still want to get this one, simply because of the English voices (I'm dying to hear Vexen's laugh and Sora and Axel saying "hell" in English). Besides (and this is not just my opinion), CoM is the best KH game out today when it comes to the storyline. Some like the card battle system and some don't, but the story is what gets you going. CoM is the most mature KH game until BBS comes out. Not only that, but you should get this if you want to know what happens between KH1 and KH2 but lack a GBA. And seeing the three new KH games, CoM might really be of great importance to the whole KH storyline, especially with 358/2 Days. And remember that Ven's armor is supposedly housed in the "Room of Awakening" which is found in Castle Oblivion...
Here's a bit of proof:
It was announced before that this is what each character specializes in.
You can play as all three of them. Each character has their own story, each one being unique depending on their personality and abilities. It's slightly different from CoM because all three stories are equally important - not one over another. Also, finishing one scenario will just raise more questions, making you want to play on. So you need to play all three scenarios to understand the full story. In battle, Terra specializes in strength, Aqua in magic, and Ven in speed.
Heh, if you thought that was epic, watch the secret ending for KH2: Final Mix. You can find it on YouTube pretty easily.
Mate, that's a very old magazine scan about the Japanese version of Re:CoM which was released more than a year ago along with KH2:FM. Nice try though. (P.S. 500th Post!)
One of the demos from the recent gaming events has a cutscene where Axel asks Roxas to "go to Castle Oblivion sometime".
Yeah, it's been confirmed many times that Terra=Strength, Aqua=Magic, and Ven=Speed.
Ven and Aqua's are both silver...
Unfortunately, all the videos are unavailable for now, but the site looks good! http://na.square-enix.com/khrecom/
No, my friend. That's Master Xehanort. And it's not just Braig who should know a lot about the past, all the other apprentices, plus Ansem, Mickey, Yen Sid, etc. would know quite a bit as well. It's just Braig/Xigbar can't seem to keep his mouth shut, as we can see. Remember Zexion's rather shocked reaction upon hearing about the "other friend" (Aqua)?...
The similarities between Ven/Roxas, Terra/Xehanort, Xion/Kairi/Aqua, etc. don't count as "recycled characters" because those connections are actually part of the story. The were made to look like each other for a reason. As for the rest like Axel/Reno, Terra/Zack, etc., Nomura just likes doing that, making characters from one of his games look like the characters for his other game. But I don't think he does that recycling thing within KH alone 'cause that'll make the connection-similarites (as stated above) too confusing; Xigbar/MX, Axel/Terra, Kairi/Olette, etc. are nothing more than vague coincidences.
Not proven. If you look again, the way he summons his Keyblade doesn't really look anything like the one in KH2.
