Well, thankfully Cerdic was no longer trying to murder Aevum. Things had certainly calmed down in that aspect, but Alder had gone and destroyed the journal. As the journal had gone up in flames, so had any hope of being able to quickly unravel the mysteries surrounding the past. Although with so many memories returned she had a pretty good idea of everything that had happened, but she still couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to remember. After all, she still couldn't remember how she'd left her homeworld, but she doubted the journal had contained that information. These people she was with, LIGHT, were her friends, but she was certain that she hadn't known them back at her home. "If being naive means that I'm going to trust my friends when they deserve to be trusted, then i'll be naive for a while longer I think" Kara said, finally finding the ability to speak once more. She was grateful that Cerdic and Alder seemed to be the ones leading the way; she wasn't all too sure she'd be able to manage it right at that moment. She'd take some time to get her thoughts together and rebuild her mental fortitude before trying to take charge in any aspect.

Auto-equipping Counterpoint for Glen
Glen could remember his face paling at the words of the blonde woman that had been yelling. He'd heard about drill sergeants being terrifying, but this one was on a whole other level. She reminded him of Karina in a way. He'd listened fairly carefully, he had to if he wanted to blend in. Apparently they had to go and shoot a bunch of bugs, that didn't sound so bad. At least, that's what he had thought before the bugs got close to him. They were a lot bigger than most of the bugs he'd seen, that was for sure. As Mega-Bitch 2.0 yelled at them to take down one of the bugs before them, Glen readied the gun he held in his hands. He'd fired a gun before, once. His aim had been atrocious, but surely now he would be better now that there were actual lives on the line. Just as he was about to open fire, two soldiers came over to them. Heck yeah, backup had arrived. They were saved, and this plan was about to go off without a hitch. Probably would have too if the soldiers hadn't fired at them after revealing their identities. It was some guy he didn't recognise and....Karina? She'd come back for some reason and had brought backup, but why would she do that after her dramatic exit? Wait, pointing guns at them, bringing backup, and they were in an area where casualties would be expected. Good god, she'd come back to finish the job. He knew that she'd been waiting to take him down after her failed attempt at drowning him. Well if she thought he was going to die there she had another thing coming! As Steel avoided the shots and rushed forward to attack Leo, Glen was left to face Karina. It's not like he wasn't going to try to do that anyway though. "Die you lying *****!" he shouted as he opened fire and unloaded multiple shots, aiming for body shots due to not trusting his accuracy enough to go for a headshot.
For a moment, Kara said nothing and instead allowed all the frustration and sorrow to begin flowing out of her through her tears. Sure enough, Cerdic had been reassuring when she'd needed him to be. He promised that he'd make the ones who had inflicted this pain upon all of them pay, which while she was all for stopping Ria she wasn't sure that she could bring herself to actually take the life of somebody else. She was about to open her mouth and tell him that, but right as she was about to a flood of memories entered her head. Well, if she'd had any doubts about Aevum betraying them before they were certainly not there now. He'd taken their darkness, which didn't sound so bad until she remembered that a person had to have a balance of both to function properly, at least that's what she thought. Some had tried to stop him but from what she could remember he had succeeded, though he'd been in some kind of horrendous pain for it. Had it really been worth it? Thinking of all the memory problems Chrono had seemed to have, she figured the answer was probably 'no'. She wasn't sure what to think of Chrono now. She knew he was Aevum, or had been Aevum, and though he'd fallen for the same trap she had and he'd fought by their side....hadn't she trusted Aevum too? She'd had complete faith in him, and look where that had gotten them. She was brought out of the world of her memories by Chrono's screaming. He sounded like was in terrible pain, had his memories come back too? Maybe he was re-living that? She felt bad for him and wanted to try to help, but she wasn't sure how. From the looks of it, he was about to be in even more pain too as Cerdic stepped forward and went towards him. He began yelling at Chrono and summoned his keyblade, leaving Kara shocked. Was Cerdic really about to kill him? She knew that he'd said he would but this wasn't Aevum, this was Chrono. Sure they probably shouldn't trust him entirely, but was that really grounds to murder him? Cerdic glanced back at her as though to make sure she was still okay, but she was beginning to freak out. She got up on shaky legs and tried to summon her keyblade, but she was too emotional and all she got was a useless shaking of her hand as she tried to summon it. If she didn't snap out of it soon though, another friend would be killed one way or another. She had to do it, but she couldn't. Thankfully Daeni wasn't as incompetent as her and actually managed to get up and stop the strike from hitting Chrono. "That's not what I meant, Cerdic! Chrono is our friend, he's been helping us and he lost his memories too, and look at the pain he's in. Please, don't kill him!" she screamed, her voice shaky and emotion very clear in her words. It wasn't very hard to tell the girl was barely holding it together, but honestly after what they had all been through was there anyone who was coping well?
Opening her eyes slowly as consciousness blessed her once more, Kara awakened to the sight of the same area she'd been in when she passed out, but there were new people. Daeni was down there with them now, her cheeks wet as though she had been crying. The darkness that had been around when Kara had gone to sleep before was now gone, so was Daeni crying because they'd been trapped? She was such a caring girl, it was good to see. Aside from Daeni, she couldn't see anyone else new. Where was Relli, Marley, Chrys and Cerdic? Knowing Cerdic, he was probably playing hero and showing off above, protecting the area from heartless. The others would have followed, probably to make sure that he didn't wind up hurting himself in the process. She sighed for a moment, allowing herself to fall back a little and relax. She was still quite sleepy, she could just take it easy there for a moment in the arms of the- wait a minute. Arms? Turning her head slightly, she strained to look behind her whilst still laying on the ground, and saw Cerdic standing there. "Oh, there you are" she said quietly. Just a minute, if Cerdic was there..then where were...? They were probably up above, protecting the entrance from the heartless. They had to be, surely Ria couldn't take out all three of them together? Waking up quite quickly at that thought, she remembered the deaths of her comrades from earlier, and for the first time since then tears welled up inside of her. She'd had to put on a brave face before for the sake of Mora (who turned out to be mega ***** anyway), or at least as much as she could, but surely with Cerdic she didn't. Maybe he'd judge her, but it's not like that felt any differently to normal, and he was the kind of person who would probably try to make her feel better, and...well, maybe it wasn't the best idea but she needed to talk to someone about it and though he normally wasn't the nicest person, Kara chose to believe that deep down Cerdic was a nice person. She immediately got up, turned around and threw her arms around Cerdic as she began sobbing profusely. "Xen and Chloe are d...they're dead. And it's my fault Cerdic. I led them down the path and they were killed by Ria after everyone told me it was a bad idea but I didn't listen and...and then I got Alder and Chrono trapped too and i'm such a horrible leader!" she cried, no longer supressing the fears and doubts she'd been having.
As the others departed for their own goals and Steel mentioned Hero's Duty, Glen nodded. "Hero's Duty sounds like one hell of a place, should be interesting" he stated, hiding his enthusiasm a little poorly. The name of the game sounded pretty great, and hey maybe they could get a medal if they did well too! Not much later, he hurried through the entrance and into the game. No sooner had he entered than he and Steel were immediately thrust into what seemed to be a warzone, or at least the beginnings of one. There didn't seem to be too much actual war going on there right then, but from the looks of the armoured soldiers standing in a group and focusing intensely on the one that stood before them there was about to be something big going on. His eyes stopped on one of the soldiers that seemed to be a bit bulkier than the others, and he recognised that one as Ralph. Nudging Steel discreetly, he pointed at the other suits of armour for a moment. "Ralph said he doesn't know anything about the portal, but he at least knows about these other games. Maybe he knows someone who can point us in the right direction? I bet if we help him get that medal he was after he'll do everything he can. We should get in those suits of armour so we don't stand out from the others and see what's going on, then keep going after our goal" the keyslinger whispered before making a move to proceed. Moving very quietly, he made his way over to one of the battlesuits and slipped one on. It was a little big for him, but he could make it work. Probably. Looking over back at his partner, he motioned for him to come over. Thankfully, Steel and himself both seemed to be quick on their feet, as he'd seen Steel in battle a few times, so Glen had no doubt his friend would be able to get over without an issue. Turning his attention back to the group of soldiers, he slipped in as stealthily as he could amongst the soldiers. Maybe they'd get lucky and arrive in the middle of a briefing, but seriously who what were the odds of that?
Krowley, in SoS would there be more of the suits of armour laying around for Steel and Glen to wear?
Shared it on my facebook. If there's anything else I can do to help out, you know where to find me.
"Not a single foe shall stand before us, and all shall know our names." "Damn straight" was all Glen said in response to his partner. He was already liking this new partnership, why had he not really worked with Steel before? The Mark of Mastery exam was going to be pretty great, probably a great deal of fun too. At least, that's how it was seeming, but things tended to take a turn for the worst a lot of the time. With that being done, AJ came over and said he'd go with them. Nodding, Glen said "Great to have you", only to moments later add "is what I would've said if you didn't have to go with that other guy. Ah well, always next time" when the number obsessed person threw in X into the mix, officially announcing them as AJ's partner for that section of the test. Soon enough, things were progressing. They'd been given a new set of intrusctions, they had their partners, and there was even a new guy who came into the scene. He wasn't part of their group, so he was probably a resident of the place they were at. Well, that was convenient. As Steel gave him a slight nudge, Glen gave him a quick thumbs up and walked over towards Ralph. Clearly his partner was wanting him to talk to Ralph and get his help, so the Aatarsiluan keyslinger was going to attempt to do just that. Ralph mentioned being from a game, and supposedly newcomers were always part of a game that had just been plugged in...so it only made sense that he thought they were from a videogame. Pfft, what kind of game would that be? Who would even play a game featuring teenagers using oversized keys to save the worlds? But the situation did require some brilliant acting, so he'd have to play along. He'd played a lot of games when he was younger, and knew the basic concept of them, and hopefully that'd be enough. "Hey Ralph, my name's Glen. As you guessed, the game my friends and I are part of just got plugged in. The name of the game, well I'm sure they can tell you more about it...I don't tend to pay too much attention to anything other than my job, so I don't know a whole lot about it" he stated, pretending to be embarassed as his mind completely failed to give him an answer on the spot, so he did done the logical thing and dumped responsibility onto the others. He waited a moment, before something finally came to him. "My job in the game was to run from one point to another, jumping over obstacles and helping the player get as many points as they could before they got to move onto the next stage. Gets pretty boring sometimes, figured I might take a look around and see if I can do better in other games. Any recommendations?" he asked.
"Quite the philosopher aren't you Yukyo? People are afraid of the demons as you said, so for me the solution is simple. We just have to show them that hope is not lost and that it's worth standing together against demon kind. One big success against the tyrant, one big action, would say a lot more to the people and rally them more than words" Battousai said, now wandering over to the others, giving up on his writing for the moment. "If we get roaring drunk, I'd be willing to bet we could take down one of the generals or at least have them thinking that we believe we can. I think that's a great idea, lets give it a shot. I'm buying!" the man declared, feeling very proud of the idea he'd come up with. With his bravado and supreme tactics, the war was as good as won.
In addition to the speed boost from earlier (obtained via crowns), Glen's strength stat should now be 49, his speed stat WITH the speed boost factored in is 50, without is 48, and his MP should now be 6. Additionally, he now has the smackdown ability active due to the knockout punch (+60% combo damage to enemies, +40% to ground). This damage (and I suspect some of the damage from sanfransokyo's boss battle) does apply to aerial enemies as there is no ability to enable aerial combo attacks aside from combo, which is equipped for Glen, only other abilities to enhance it.
Glen had been about to tackle the number puzzle, but thankfully he didn't have to because AJ was doing it for them! Walking up, he gave the guy a pat on the back as he looked at the paper. "Damn AJ, you're a genius. Good job solving that, I owe you a drink sometime. Not right now, because only an idiot would start drinking when they're in the middle of a life-altering test. By the way, you should join me and Steel, we'll 3-man this next step and ace the test" he stated, before pulling out one of three bottles of alcohol (yes, three) that he'd managed to get his hands on in the last world, and took a drink. "I have no idea why all they sell back in that place is wine, but it's all I've got so it'll have to do!" he called out, before wandering on over to Steel. So he was to be partnered with Steel. He didn't know Steel all that well, at least not as well as most of the others, but he seemed like an alright guy. Not quite alright enough to offer him a drink yet. "Alright Steel, lets kick some ass and become masters. This'll be easy as hell" the male said, eager to begin as always.
I, Glen, agree to the conditions stated above, knowing that should I feel to abide by these new rules my fictional character shall be killed off in likely a brutal or grotesque manner.
Glen will unequip Fire Strike in favour of Fist Bump! He will also equip Aerial Finish! And lastly, he will unequip Last Legacy and equip Knockout Punch! Spending 30 crowns to put Glen's speed from 45 to 48.
Battousai, not that it really mattered, did not bow. "I agree with him. Who is the bigger fool? The ones who take on a quest to restore true freedom to the world, or the ones who sit idly by and live a bland life? There are stories, legends of the ones who fight for justice and their brave exploits, and yet nothing written about those who simply wait. Come, assist us in our endeavour and you will be immortalised in the history books forever! Together we can free the magic!" Battousai yelled in his high pitched voice, fists punching the air as he began cheering. The idea of someone turning down the chance of a lifetime was somethnig that made him sad, so he felt that he must do what he could do ensure that does not happen.
"Yeah, damn things. You wouldn't believe how annoying it is being unable to be seen or heard for days, knowing all the while that it's your own fault. We were so close to making them work, we'll just have to try again once we've checked the statistics and re-examined our theory. Oh well, it looks like everyone handled things without us anyway, it was a lot of fun being basically an on-field spectator. Those microbot things are really something Hiro" Glen stated, completely going along with Kaida's lie. It was fun pretending that they were good enough with things to actually make something that could turn them invisible. He did feel a little bad for lying, but what was the alternative? 'Hey we're from another world, trapped in darkness and trying to take a test to become masters of our oversized key weapons'?
Glen shrugged his shoulders at Ignis' comment. "It's not so bad here. We've certainly been in worse places..though I hope we can leave now, we do have to finish the mark of mastery thing and quickly" he stated, adding very little to the conversation for he felt there was very little to add.
