A very moving movie that made me feel very guilty about my German blood. It was recommended viewing for one of my college courses and though we had discussed it, I was not prepared for it. I mean I knew what would happen but...discussion does not prepare you for the emotions.

Liam Neesen did a wonderful portrayal of Oskar Schindler who saved so many Jews to work in his factory during the war.

And the ending was wonderful with the Schindler Jews placing the rocks on his grave to remember him.

Shot almost entirely in black and white. The only color seen is a little girl in a red coat that Schindler sees in the Krakow Ghetto.

    Wonderful movie.

    Dintopia

I know it's a mini series as well but it started as a book series first so that's why I'm putting it here.

I was raised on these books and enjoyed the story immensely as well as the illustration. There is something for everyone here and I don't really see them as exclusively for children. Perhaps I'm just a kid at heart and a dinosaur fanatic but I think it's a wonderful story.

There's the official website if you'd like you'd like to read more.

So am I the only one who has heard of Dinotopia?

It's nice that Nomura actually got Kojima's opinion but I'd rather not have Snake in Kingdom Hearts.

    we find our songs
    in fashion magazines
    we read the story
    in the morning paper

    I touch their hearts
    and they touch my skin
    I'm on your screen
and you are just so wide

put us on display for everyone to see
we write the words for all to understand

    though I get my kicks
    it's slowly wasting me
don't try to be an artist
I try to be a man

    dead stars still burn
    dead still stars burn

    we find ourselves
    in pictures on the net
    blinded by science
    addicted to devotion

    I'm in your hold
    eager to abuse
    my favourite game
    I suffer from misuse

    I just want to know
the man in front of them
    to read their minds
    for me to understand

    though I get my kicks
    it's slowly wasting me
don't try to be an artist
I try to be a man

So what is the song that everyone associates with Ireland and St. Patrick's day?

    Danny Boy.

Yes I know it's a nice song but there is nothing Irish about it.

Danny Boy was written by an English lawyer who not once set foot in Ireland. Never experienced its culture nor its people nor Ireland itself. Not to mention that Danny Boy isn't the most popular song in Ireland.

Most of Ireland's music are either the fiddle laden music you hear in pubs or the ballads by bands such as Celtic Thunder. It also centers on its history and the recent clash between Catholics and Protestants which is still going on.

But there are countless other Irish songs like Caldonia, The Fields of Athenry, Adieu Lovely Nancy, and more than I can name? So why is it this non-Irish song written by an Englishman gets the most attention.

And I'm not even getting into the countless fanfics featuring whiny emo pseudo-Irish characters cutting themselves to Danny Boy because they're whiny emo pseudo-Irish girl/boyfriend <Insert stupid cliche plot device here the day before St. Patricks day.

So please, when you're celebrating St.Patrick's day, listen to music that's Irish?

    Words like violence

    Break the silence

    Come crashing in

    Into my little world

    Painful to me

    Pierce right through me

    Can't you understand

    Oh my little girl

    All I ever wanted

    All I ever needed

    Is here in my arms

    Words are very unnecessary

    They can only harm

    Vows are spoken

    To be broken

    Feelings are intense

    Words are trivial

    Pleasures remain

    So does the pain

    Words are meaningless

    And forgettable

    All I ever wanted

    Enjoy the silence

    Night

I just got done reading this book and writing a paper on it for my Holocaust class and I must say that it is a depressing book to read but at the same time it illustrates how someone can survive even when the world around them refuses to help them.

Anyone else read this or are reading this?

Discuss. And please keep the discussion Intelligent and respectful.
