maybe the orginization made them that way so that they could maintain control over them? like if they didnt have eyes they wouldnt be able to see the fact that other living things could feel emotions (in things such as laughter, tears) therefore may go mad, (after all, they still have minds) or to surpress any compassion they may think they feel? (if they see another person in pain they might think they feel sympathy or something and let them live) yea, its a dumb theory but anyway.

i love it! ok, i admit it's a bit childish at some points but still, that's what makes it different. And the storyline as a whole is still pretty good, even with the sad attempts at comedy. this is just my opinion though. shippuuden is even better IMO.
