So what's your take on this guy? Was he a pain in the keyhole, or did you love every second of the showdown? Or were you just kinda "meh" about it? I liked the way he relentlessly punished you for being relentless. He meets aggression with aggression, which makes it hard to just wade in and keep smacking him. Well, unless you have all those almighty Riku skills. And the HP drain that leaves green spheres all over is an interesting idea, because it makes you panic but you can recover from it consistently if you keep a level head, either by healing it off when you get an opening or running around scooping up your lost health.

Well, not the only one, and that's not all he's done, but it makes for a good eye-catcher. So this guy's been with Atlus since '95, and has worked extensively on the MegaTen series since then. Spoiler Just discovered these guys, pretty entertaining. Obviously they play PC games, but they get into some interesting stuff like early access and fangames.
So, as you can see, something seems to be lost in transition here. This wasn't intentional, was it? I dunno what the fix is like but I noticed it the other day and thought I'd mention it.
Shadow. Chaos. Evil. Fear. Death. No sane person would say they enjoy these things—We want to get rid of them, right? Or at least to have as little as possible. Pain weakens us, fear cripples us. Malice harms our fellows and ourselves, and the temptation to do ill is a constant source of misery. But is it possible that these forces complement the good, rather than oppose them? Could it be said that the negative experiences in our lives empower the positive? That our flaws are what truly make us divine? There's a quote from a certain source that always spoke to me: "I love everything about Tokyo, even the things I hate." Of course the prefecture is not as relevant, but the message itself has resonated with me from an early age. I came to understand that the things I loathe and revile serve to define me—that in their absence, I would be incomplete. I came to embrace the contradiction, in that the stronger my enemy, the stronger I became in response. I still seek to be rid of them, but now I understand that it's the struggle that matters, not the outcome. I want to hear instances of Yang in your lives. Things you despised at first, things that disgusted you, shocked you, terrified you... things that eventually gave way to good. A lost battle that taught you a better way to fight. A lost item that taught you the value of your possessions. A lost friend, who taught you to see things in a better light. Or something you thought you'd regret losing, that really just showed you how free you were without it.
Now I know this is a broad topic, but just answer it however you feel is appropriate. How resistant should one be to change? Or should there be no resistance at all? Is it better to be like a boulder in a stream, or like the water beneath it? Do you accept change in your life, or do you buck against it, or both? How much do you change yourself internally, and how much do you think is healthy? Would you change yourself for someone else's sake? Would you ask a loved one to do so for you? What makes such things justified?
So, here's the idea. Workshop would be for constructive things like general writing tips, exercises, prompts, posting unfinished stories to get feedback, and stuff like that. Rec Room would be for general discussion of writing topics like narrative theory, themes & symbolism, and so on. I posed the idea to everyone I asked about the other idea, and they all liked it. Now, these could conceivably be split into their own subsections. Or they could be a single subsec (titled Workshop & Rec Room, obviously) which encompasses pretty much anything that isn't actual writing. I have no preference personally, whichever one the staff finds more desireable/convenient. Several existing threads could be moved into these sections to start, such as Plums's Variety Bin, and a few staffies and I have already discussed other content to add.
I've run this by a handful of people, including frequent posters and mods invested in the section, and the word seems to be unanimous: No one's really sure why fanfics are up front and original stories are tucked away in a corner. So maybe they should switch places? This would also push the events in the section, PotS and PanS, to the front so that they get more exposure.
And I don't necessarily mean an insignia, or a family crest, or anything like that. It could be an object, a place, a person, a quote, even a concept. But is there something precious to you? Something that you feel represents you or something important to you? My own symbol is the color magenta. It's the only color on a traditional color wheel that isn't represented by a distinct wave of light, yet it visually bridges the gap between red and purple, and we even perceive it in nature. And that's about the extent to which we can know, factually, what's up with magenta, but it leaves so many questions unanswered. Why does nature have no pure magenta? Why do we superimpose it onto certain objects? Does it exist independent of our observation? If not, what exists in its place? It's like the self-obfuscating mystery, and that kind of thing fascinates me and informs a lot of my core worldviews. I also have a friend who's exceptionally fond of the number 8. He studies mathematics and philosophy, among other things, and it just speaks to him in many ways and sort of bridges the gap between those disciplines. The shapeliness of it, the fact that the infinity symbol resembles it, the places it pops up in equations, the fact that it's an even number... and he just extrapolates more and more from that, things like "It's the perfect number of people for a party" that could be subjective or could be an incredibly intuitive conclusion.

Those words are everywhere in our lives: at school when our peers say they know what it's like, on the lips of frustrated parents doling out a lecture. They loom over some of us and excite others. For some people they're a status symbol, for others a condemnation. So what do they mean to you? Are they good, bad, or neither? How do you know if somebody's mature, or if they're "acting like an adult?" What is "growing up," and is it something you look(ed) forward to?
I dunno if this is common or not, but a lot of the music I listen to causes me to imagine scenes or static images in my head. They could be landscapes, or people, forces of nature or fictional worlds. I figured to share some of this imagery and invite others to do the same, maybe with the intent of inspiring creative works or finding common ground between people's imaginings (or just buffing people's post counts WINK WONK). So feel free to share a song and tell us what you imagine as you listen—or, if someone else has shared a song you like, feel free to chime in with your own imagery and see if anything matches up. Sample under the spoiler. Spoiler: ♪ Amon Tobin • Deo A melancholy track, which gets a little unnerving as it goes on. I picture a sky full of clouds, murky and gray, with scattered columns of colorless light pouring out from behind them... Beneath that a parched wasteland, flat and brown and marred with cracks. As the track shuffles on and more instruments join in, I see small creatures, lizards and rats and the like, emerge from the cracks and skitter across dead trees. The wind picks up, tossing sand and dust everywhere and forming a thin fog. The longer the track goes on, the more violent the wind gets, 'til it becomes a full-on storm—yet at the same time the clouds clear away, and the sun spills through more and more until the light is blinding. When the wind settles, the animals are gone but the cracks have healed, and grass begins to grow in their place.
So, in games where you need to use ABXY/XSTC and the right control stick at the same time, do you have a problem with that? How do you usually handle it? Would you like to see a change in controller layouts that makes this easier? I have to play claw for almost any game with camera controls, and while it's not that hard it can make my fingers a lil' sore if I play for too long. I'm interested by the Wii U's decision to swap the placement of the buttons and sticks, and it does seem to make the transition smoother.
→ Rᴏᴀᴅ ᴛᴏ Hᴇᴀᴠᴇɴ Contrary to my last set, these are STUPIDLY experimental. New textures, extreme colors, awkward sources, lots of layerf●ckery... The idea just hit me while I was making a pin request. It'd be kinda nice if somewhere on your profile you could choose a handful of pins from your collection to display on your posts, rather than your most recently awarded displaying automatically. Is this doable?
Can you get just about anyone to do what you want? Do you know just the right words to provoke a reaction? Are you ever tempted to manipulate someone who has left themselves vulnerable? How often? Have you ever given in to that temptation? You don't have to go into detail, if it's uncomfortable for you. A lot of animes seem not to care that colors like blue, green, purple, and vibrant reds don't exactly occur naturally in human hair. Maybe it's just dye or a wig, but even then, do that many people go to such lengths? I feel like hair color is being used as a shortcut to make a character stand out, when one could do so with facial expressions, body structure, or clothing styles instead, among other things. I enjoy shows where hair colors are much more restrained - and even then, I don't mind the odd teal or pink, because then it stands out even more. The thing that bugs me the most is when characters get odd hair colors in the transition from manga to anime - I always picture them a certain way in my head, and since they begin their lives in black & white they clearly stand out enough already, so it just seems pointless to me. Kio doesn't need green hair, he's a sassy art student who loves sweaters and has a giant butterfly tattoo on his back! How 'bout y'all? Are you getting tired of it, or have you seen so much of it now that you don't even notice?
