    Reading

I like reading but only before bed or on the bus.
Sometimes in free lessons. I agree it is a dying art.

I started reading more often because of an intellectual friend, he's the kind that makes you want to be a better person without telling you to (like you imitate him cos he's cool) so I read the diary of a wallflower and now reading this side of paradise. Internet and other things are super distracting though and it's odd to just sit down and read in the house.

It is amazing for creativity, thats what I found useful about english lessons but there is too much...narrow worshipping of the "Legends" of writing while ignoring the others who haven't changed the world or are modern. It is a little pretentious in my eyes.

I read online too because some fanfiction is good and other things but err online appeals because I don't wear my glasses but I should with books but I'm convinced glasses also damage your eyes while correcting vision. (which is why they get stronger over time along with age damaging eyes)

Yeah, it's called a private jet where your chair is huge and you have so much space. I've never had it.

I prefer aisle seats for emergency toilet use and easy access for snacks off the trolly-dollys. but I do hate the moving for others. The middle is worst, no space and always moving for others.

    twitter

I gained 60 followers in one day because Katy Perry replied to me.

It was funny. I use it as a medium to celeb-stalk. You finally know from their mouth (usually) when videos, singles, albums, etc are out and what gossip is a load of tosh and also learn a bit about them too sometimes. Like when they're at a gig and you like that artists too. That's cool.

as for self-tweeting I don't bother much. But I do know the tricks and trade of getting responses off slightly famous people. Hashtags and timing is everything along with a good interesting topic in under 180 characters. It's a fun art.

I used to roll with all the emo/goth/punk kids and the funny thing is I've matured and they're still clingy co-dependants dating 14 year old girls (some of these men are now 18 going on 19 so I don't approve of that) in reality I say their tastes are pop rock and lots of my ex friends are my ex friends because of that age gap thing and a total lack of clicking.

I totally believe in self-expression, piercings make up and clothing does not make me judge anyone but god they were (still are, considering they're friends with my sister who is four years my junior) so...Irritating in hindsight and while I didn't mind them at the time, they hated me cos I wasn't them. I liked different music, didn't do my hair like that and my sub-culture was gay in reality so I had a very different personality.

Now I roll with more "indie" friends I guess but they're open minded folks and friendly. they take people from any shades and often a nice mix (not those NME hipsters indie, just people who like whatever and be whatever). At least now we go the pub for drinks to socialise rather than sit outside in the cold talking about god knows what with a bottle of cider on a Saturday. Some people do that culture cos it's cool or because it's different and want to seem different. I don't like that at all. I think it is part of growing up trying to be massively different then you mellow down...or keep dating underage people.

Be you, be it dull or unusual in reality you will have mundane factors and typical factors along with unique ones. Don't just push the unique stuff, your mundane things are so beautiful also. Part of growing up is finding you and it might not be that culture in time for all you know. But if it is, fair does just don't scowl at me in your quirky BDSM costume and mask during a Gay Pride Walk (Long story, I took once glance at interestingly dressed people and got the filthiest scowls ever)

Yeah, be whatever and don't refuse to follow the crowd for the sake of it. Some bits of crowd following might appeal to you, admit into it and accept it as part of you if it does but enjoy your originality too.

Oh, I will be indeed. I just want to have that way of saying "I've read a whole authors body of work" if that makes sense?
I agree on length, he has his weaknesses but was so crucial for the political points.

I mean I was also reading Christopher Isherwood and you can tell what a self-centred man he is. The main characters are a fictionalisation of him and the other characters get insight but not much compassion.

But I'm enjoying Fitzgerald at the minute though :)

I personally thank Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights for clearing up an interpretation of the Books ending as it confused me a bit.
It just means Kathy is such a determined cow she'll haunt her love from the dead :P

Music is amazing. It's changed me a bit and some lyrics are great, an uplifting ballad has not dragged me out of suicidal thoughts (but it has for some). Uptempo songs makes me feel mor optimistic sometimes though, but sometimes I love the misery song when I'm down. This is because singing along helps me vent the misery. Some artists have led me to political feminist cultures by their own work and influences, thats the best thing music did for me.

Riot Grrrl's live on and hard.

Although people have to smack down gaga...haters gotta be ignorant to hate. I don't glare eyes at heavy instrumental rock. Infact Gaga loves rock too.
She often does writes pop songs, they're not all about sex. Sometimes people wanna "Just Dance" and forget about the sh*t going on thats horrid. She's had fans who stopped committing suicide because her carefree fun pop made them forget about horrible things and dance and be happy. That's just as wonderful as a swift ballad in terms of help. She does write sex based songs sometimes but they're on a satiracal level. A disco stick is clearly a funny joke she said while drunk and made a song on it for fun.
As for born this way, she put her heart into reaching out to insecure kids to feel good about themselves with a kick-ass dance beat (as that is a rarity over the uplifting ballad). I'm a fan, but to say she's damaging music is a serious misjudgement, she's not being pretty when she walks about in her underwear, she wears it for empowerment. Most men cringe at her exposure than masturbate over it (in comparison to say, a skimpy Rihanna/Beyoncé/Katy Perry). Her catalogue has piano rock songs about personal emotional matters (love and family). Of course there is pop songs on a plastic level but lots of fans buy the album and love the fun dance nature of the pop songs and then the melodic emotion of her lyrics in the ballads.

Most people prefer her piano sections live. Nobody crucified Michael Jackson for mixing both sides of music into albums, why can't she.

    Stan rant over. :)

It's understandable to get frustrated and angry at people on the other end of the spectrum. Some heavily devoted religious peeps are biggoted and won't listen to the other side or accept the Bible has flaws and contradictions and certain rules are ignored (like wearing nylon is a sin) while standing up for some (abortion is a crime) when that had ironies (god kills pregnant women by destroying a whole town and those unborn childs deserved the death, I'm paraphrasing but it's basically that).

But then gunning it all is wrong. The bible has some good lessons and points, sometimes the good lesson was not in the original versions (like the story of jesus telling people they can stone a woman if they do not carry any sin with them) but I think people should take the positives. Respect others views, try to be patient and caring and compassionate. Don't judge others when you're in a glass house is a good life view.
But also the Bible to me says you can be human with faults but just try to be the best person you can be.
I love Corinthians for a passage about love. "Love is just pure and beautiful and can't be controlled". (paraphrasing again)
I am agnostic in the mystic side of it, I think jesus was as human as us and was lovers with Mary Magdalene. But I do believe in the "Be the best person you can" mantra it shows and not the "This is sin, judge it" others read from it. If God is up there in the pearly gates then thats for him to judge and not you to act upon.

We've all broke some commandments, but the ones that should be witheld are the no murder (include rape and abuse here), no steal and respect (good) parents.

That's me at least, so do try to accept there are people on different levels of spectrums man and try to be open minded and as diplomatic as you can be. Read the bible too if you want, it's actually good to know more about what you disbelieve because some of it will possibly appeal to your views on life and society.

It doesn't hurt to study, but it does hurt to follow a crowd mis-informed. If you know more about a bible than a bigotted zealot it really hits home to them over their ignorance.
I get how ignorant some people are, try your best or just agree to disagree and change topics.

Well it's not secret I'm a rare member about here but I've developed a lot over time as a person and so has my writing also so I think I may start a thread here posting some of my poetry/lyrics (Not my best though, I'm paranoid of copyright and theft).

Unrequited love is a recurring theme (due to my muse) but I'm always determined to go out my comfort zone sometimes. I can be morbid a lot and sometimes political.
I also shove my sexuality down ones throat also in a lot work, I embrace my gay culture and love wizard of oz metaphorical pieces.
Some love poems are gender neutral so forget my gender in those.
Also I'm British, that can come across in some works.

So for my first post I'll just post a few pieces for people to read and critique if you want!
I hate criticism so give me LOADS of it, there is nothing better than harsh words. (Honest, not walls of it but the nice-critique-nice sandwich is helpful)

All right enough waffle talk here's the proper stuff:
    Here's another...
    Finally a recent one:
Ok that's it for now I was nervous about looking back on old material but i felt it was crucial to show a development in writing format. I'll show the works I have more pride in the future x

The duller the better for me. It's like yawn therapy XD

I sometimes read long fanfiction (with acceptable grammar) on my laptop in bed too but sometimes I just melt at some dull television I've recorded.

So I'm currently reading one of his books called The other side of paradise. Most would go for "the Great Gatsby" as that is his well known one but this is a book I loaned off a friend.

He's a good writer in all honesty. I'm enjoying it. At first I didn't as the main character called Amory is a pompous arrogant twit. He's like one of those nobles who is smart and has a superiority complex.

But it got more interesting, at first it felt super pretentious as he got into an ivy league school and starts looking up to superior authors so I was taking it super slow. Then he got involved in a card accident and a friend died and it finally got interesting.

He got bored of school and was out drinking constantly and flirting with girls and then one moment he has a haunting vision of his friend who died in the car. Now him and his school mates are being sent to war (it's set during the first world war) so I think the haunting of one friend is a precursor to insanity he's going to experience from war.

It's quite political, slamming war and many things and the character has scribbled poems at some points, he started irritating but I've connected with him XD I've only started "book two" (part two) which is the war so I'm hoping he goes mad.

So has anyone else read books by him such as The Great Gatsby? apparently his collection of works is quite short and he's a good author so feel free to discuss him here
I'll probably come back to give my end review of the book which should be by this week :)

In Retro Class FF VI as I loved the industrial feel and would be on the Phantom train constantly, even though I'm not dead.

In Modern Class...I think FFVIII something about that world feels more realistic to ours than others and I dunno. It seems fun.

She collaborated on vocals for their last album and Kevin Barnes wrote a song for her album (and they duo toured last year together) <3

    It's a good dance tune.

Being gay I found the lyrics a little patronizing but I've let it slide for all those insecure closet kids.
It's quite strong she made a song about unity and it's club friendly. That means she hitting the message to the masses. It's a grower for sure though.

About her singing about sex/drugs is wrong... No offense, but pop music has thrived on love and sex for a long time (so has commercial rock) and for a long time it still will. But she's going for a more love and unity angle from this album from what little we know.
We've heard two songs (Born this way and you&I, her piano rock ballad she does on tour) and also two remixes of songs she's used for her stylists professional runway features for Thierry Mugler which she walked on herself this Wednesday (they're called Scheiße; a berlin sounded club banger and Government Hooker; another quirky sound thats more likely about Marilyn Monroe than her screwing senators).

I'm a big fan but ignoring every ounce of hype people are giving it, hype only hurts stuff.

I think you could dive into a discussion of charities in general here and realise how they are trends. (Not the charities themselves, bear with me a moment)

But a cause that needs help becomes a short lived trend that is a flavour of the month in sense. I mean December 2009/January 2010 was all about Haiti but you barely hear of charities asking for help with that now. Is haiti in a good state? Nope, it needs help more than ever in reality.

Then September/October 2010 we had the gay suicides in vogue, are teens still doing it and in pain? Yep, but the ever controlling media got bored of telling you about such a thing.

You can't fix everything at once, thats a sad fact. But I think we should highlight needing causes and help them annually. That would have a better effect.

Not onto animals and the PETA, I give no damn for animal rights. Hate to sound like a cold biatch but that's me. There are over sympathizers and factory animals are treated disgustingly but my family is not that rich. We can only afford factory farm eggs/milk/meat because its a financial necessity. Do I think we should treat animals on equal level?
Not really there are some intelligent ones out there but we're on top solely for our minds intellect. Did the chicken make the TV? Nah, we did.

Personally I would like to go vegetarian if I get into university this September but not for the animal rights. More on the basis I hate the taste and texture of most meat and would love to delve into the realms of deeper flavours from other products in the ignorance of meat.

Well there is my little opinion. I hope it has some contribution.
