No he isn't, in those scenes with Selphie and Kairi, Selphie mentions that Tidus and Wakka are too busy with something else to hang out with her. That's why they aren't seen

"How do you open this?" He saw searching around the door for some sort of latch, but it was no use. He started back and went to the two others standing there now that all the heartless had disappeared. His keyblade disappeared from his hands and he sat down to take a short rest.
Reese was taking out some heartless, oblivious to what was going on with Takuya and Nami. A heart jumped at his back and scratched his arm "Damn" He said before striking at it. He saw that most of them had gone away, then he turned to see Nami now using a keyblade, and an entirely new face as well. "Could somebody tell me exactly what these things are?" He said walking up to them as there seemed to be less of the shadows.
OOC: I have to get off, goodnight Reese made his way past Takuya and took a swing at the heartless on her. He hit two as they faded away into smoke and disappeared, the only proof of them being the hearts that floated upwards. The rest had jumped away from where Reese and Nami stood and encircled them. "You alright?" He asked Nami
"Wait!" He yelled after Takuya "You have one too?!?" He asked in confusion, he saw the girl was in danger and hesitated. But his keyblade started to move as if it had a mind of it's own, pointing at what it needed to destroy ....the heartless. Reese looked up from his keyblade and ran to help Takuya
"How to use it?, well I guess so-" Before he could finish his sentence he heard a scream. He turned to see the group of kids running, and from the center of where they were huddled, a small shadow arose. It pawed the ground with it's sharp claws and looked at Reese with it's beady yellow eyes. "W-what is that?" He asked staring at the little imp as it skittered across the floor towards him, Soon he heard another scream and a he saw a girl running out of the 2nd district and fall to her feet, chased by more of them. OOC: Just so you know we're in the first district of Traverse Town right now

"Woah!, Look at that! Another star went out!" a young child had called to others as they too ran out to where he stood, multiple voices confirming it's disappearance. "What?" Reese said as he ran out of the garage and joined them, he stared at the sky, clutching his keyblade. He closed the door to his garage, and went out for a drink....

What do you believe his apprentice (The masked guy in Riku's dark suit) has to do with the future of Kingdom Hearts? This is just a theory I've made up in my spare time but, it's about his connection to the current Xehanort (in kh1,2 and so on) He could actually be Xehanort himself. Basically, since he's is somehow part of Master Xehanort (as seen in the secret ending, when he comes out of the old man) that could explain how He could remember his name after the keyblade war, and how Xehanorts heartless has MX's costume as well. How I see it is that after the keyblade war, he managed to survive, carrying what was left of MX, and took on his name as it was what he could remember, since he's part of him. When he gave up his heart later (MX's heart) he takes of the costume of his former self, as well as causing Riku to have that costume in his dark form. Also note...because of being part of him, he inherited his traits as well (white hair, dark skin, etc.) That's all I could think of, what else is a mystery is his relation to Terra, since both him and the current Xehanort have similar hairstyles.

Why and How did he know about the keyblade? In the game in atlantica Sora gets lectured by him about the responsibilities of the keybearer. How exactly does he know since the worlds were separated before KH?
