..it makes me sneeze every minute or so. Diagnose me, Dr. KHV.
The movement seems super sluggish and the animations look pretty terrible. I hope this is early build footage because if this is anything close to a finished project, it's mostly likely going to flop hard.
Well, the beautiful thing about democracy in theory is that even though you are in a position of power, your vote only counts as much as ours. If the majority of the user base votes in agreement with this suggestion, even if you and other staff members do not, it should not influence the action taken at the completion of the vote. In theory, of course. If by chance the staff decides to overrule the expressed want of it's forum, that would make it more of a dictatorship, no?
Not reporting what, to you, was wrongfully done is no one's fault but your own and your 'friends'. If they had approached staff with their complaints and problems, it would have been dealt with in a proper fashion, which leads straight into a contradiction you've made against yourself. If the staff today is as approachable and efficient as you're insinuating them to be, then the slight problems that could arise from abuse of the reputation system can be resolved with ease and the pros of the reputation would far outweigh the cons. Just because something can't be done perfectly without a hitch does not mean that it should not be done, or at the very least attempted. As a side note that doesn't need to impact the discussion, I will confirm that you and your 'friends' were a minority. I don't think a single person said this needed to be done immediately, or with only a few votes from a few members. I think everyone here is more than willing to wait for a larger percentage of the forum to express their thoughts. That being said, if only a few people vote in this thread and it's not enough to warrant action but the overall siding of the vote is in agreement, then it should be up to you (the staff in general), in a position of power, to find a way to get the opinions of other members who might not think to look in this section expressed. Put a vote up on the front page. Send out an automated PM informing the members. Something to make sure another suggestion from your dedicated userbase is not ignored or killed off without second thought. If only 10 people play the lottery and the pot only hits $1,000, they don't just call it off. They draw a winner and one man or woman wins $1,000. Finally, to be blunt, I'm not sure what forum you're browsing, but there are probably less than 150 active members here. A fraction of that logs in daily and contributes to discussions and threads. I wouldn't say this amount of people is insignificant by any means.
As someone who was head of staff back when the reputation system was first implemented, I'm going to have to disagree with you about it causing many disputes. I got a lot of PM's from people who disagreed with their reputation involving certain posts, but under review and discussion amongst others, for the most part it always ended up being a non-issue and the reputation was justified. It wasn't that hard to deal with the few issues of abuse involving the reputation system, either. I also strongly disagree with your point about keeping the like system and not giving reputation a chance simply because it's easier. As you can see, many people agree with this suggestion and feel like it would be beneficial to the forum. Quickly shunning the idea because of hypothetical if's and but's or in my opinion, false recollections of past experiences with by now, a completely different and new userbase is pretty much blasphemous. People enjoyed the rep system. It worked well. It gave a greater sense of satisfaction when you made a good post and people enjoyed it and you could read a short comment about why. You won't see a ton of people reply to a post in a thread outside of the spamzone saying "That was a great post." or whatever other variation of praise they have because it would clog up the thread and it's unfitting. To be honest, it seems like most suggestions by users on this forum, even if they're universally accepted by the userbase, get little or no attention and end up forgotten about. Maybe this would be a good opportunity for the staff to let the forum know that they have a say in what goes on on the website they've quite literally kept alive for so many years. I am in agreement with the idea suggested in this thread. That is all.
And the award for most unsubtly rude comment goes to you.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Well aren't you a sweetheart. c':
Well.. ****. That's it for me I guess. Good luck guys!
I don't think I appreciate your negativity, sir.
If I win this contest today, I will win.
That would be hilarious. I'm sure everyone would love to see us humiliate ourselves in such a simple game.
