How exactly is it weird? It's a story of 2 (eventually 4) great minds with varying views on justice in a battle of wits to decide the future fate of the earth, same as usual. or a police state like existence under kira's rule just because it's not LOLSORANDUMB does not make it bad, in fact I'd say the opposite is usually the case.
