Wow I've been doing this for almost a year now I think. Time does fly.
Last month's theme was a bit off the usual track and we got a lot of responses, so thank you all for that.

That being said, it was frustratingly hard to pick a winner since I've seen much strong poetry in those small gems.
Winner this month was Arcanine. Her poem "Only Heroes Ever Die" was cryptic but at the same time understandable. She really did say a lot in few words. Runners-up this month were clawtooth35 and Plums. Mentioning them because it was very close this month.

This month's theme is animals. I'm pretty sure we had this theme before, maybe under a different host, but it's been a while still. Good luck to you all!

    ==============
    Prologue
    React
    ==============

"There used to be mountains here, all different in peak and dell. Though high as they stood, they were feasted upon by the gluttons called Wind and Rain. "Learn to talk already!", I shouted in vain. Because before they knew it, every last one of them was grinded to dust. Each grain journeying its own quests, only knowing and caring for their own. Pathetic. No one should find satisfaction in leading only one life."
Mature enough to know at least that, was Catherine. The people rather who invented communication deserved her most loving of kisses but only the person who can tell her what it is shall be dragged into her, be pampered and in the end crippled so terribly that he would never ever get a chance to escape.
She will communicate the violent way if she has to.

Catherine Wheel is a living corpse in the process of decomposing. Ripping her fibers apart one at a time, she reduces herself to tiny figments hoping that they would somehow come to carry eachother's burdens. Alas, instead of doing so they all whine their daily lament of: "Catherine oh Catherine, when are we leaving here?"

She sleeps underneath a parachute. According to her own religion -the one she herself does not believe in- the walls, floor and ceiling will merge on the apocalypse as pieces of a puzzle. The tyrant glued together from all her limitations -both physical and non- shall evict her from her queendom. That is why she will love him, cherish him, be intimate with him, and eventually want to flee from him. Things will get ugly. Heads will roll, angels will fall. Hence the parachute. It's her guarantee to a more beautiful downfall than she deserves.

It has never ended that way. Catherine is trapped inside a blank sheet of paper which no author wishes to write upon. And with good reason too; Catherine is the loneliest person in her universe, and therefore the most dangerous.
"Loneliness was never a laughing matter. Even less so is love. Come accompany me, come love me if you dare."

Hello, boys and girls. I'm back and I'll be judging the poetry contest again from now on. Thanks for taking over, Cariad!

This month's winner was Catch the Rain with her poem "Trick or Treat". It was deliciously creepy and had a powerful ending. Honorable mention for timexhasxgone who is a close second.

For my return as host I'd like hold a special contest. This month's theme is "Short and Sweet". Write as much as you can in five lines or less. Sounds tricky? Try your best. See you next month!

Peace-and-War inspired me for this thread. Credit goes to him. But anyway...
You know that doctor character from the first episode? The one with the cure for cancer? Apparently, he's alive! And he takes the leading role for this episode. He still has the cure for cancer but he's quite an A-hole and decides to take his secret to the grave. The only way to the obtain the necessary knowledge is to torture it out of him. By which I mean torture him horribly. Just think of the worst you can think of. Would you do it?

Also, this is a purely ethical question. I know the background story isn't waterproof and needn't be reminded of that. I don't want loophole-hunting to affect your answer in any way. In other words, I don't want horseshit such as this in my thread:

    Abortion

The abortion debate. Go go go!

I'm all for abortion and in my opinion a foetus that isn't viable is good enough to pull out of the womb and drop in the organic waste bin.
This of course implies that an abortion may be induced on request.

    What are your opinions?

Good to see you again, guys. Time for another poetry contest. The months sure seem to fly by, or maybe that's just me. Thanks for your entries as usual. :)

August's contest was an interesting one to read. Apparently many of you have a dystopian view on justice, or at least prefered that view in your poems. Our winner was no different in this: Rayku filled his piece with a lot of anger and despair. Quite amazing for a poem of that length.

In accordance with the new school year, this month's theme will be New Beginnings. Cheesy as it may sound, I'm pretty sure you guys can come up with something creative. Keep doing your best!

I'm guessing some of you have already played the Japanese version of the game or something.
Are the Organization itself, and its members other than Roxas, Axel and Xion, in any way elaborated upon? Their purpose, their personalities?
In other words; how big are their roles (in general, I don't need to know each of their contributions separately) in the game?

I'd like an answer to this because focusing on Roxas all the time seems kind of dumb. Not to mention he's not exactly the most interesting of the lot either. Thanks for answering, boys and girls.

Yeah, I shamelessly stole CtR's idea and am making my own thread about it now. Thing is, there are some areas and genres that I'm very inexperienced in. CtR has mentioned a couple of them (hip hop and country), but that's not where it ends (yeah, I know, a Music section mod who doesn't know anything about music, it is a disgrace). So would you guys mind helping me out here?

My point of interest (and lack of knowledge) that I want to work on first is electronic music. I don't know if there are many fans here but I'll give it a try regardless. I'm mainly interested in these:
    • Dance
    • House
    • Techno
    • Ambient
But suggestions from other genres of electronic music are welcome too.

There's a second main genre that I'd like to delve deeper in, and that would be folk. I'm especially interested if you happen to know bands that mix folk music with rock (yes, I know Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys, but thanks anyway) but pure folk or mixtures with other genres are welcome too.

    Much obliged, people. :)

Question is obvious. Could you do it or in which cases? Why can or can't you forgive him/her?

I'm pretty forgiving so I probably wouldn't hold it against my lover.
I aim to please, not to possess. (I said that in another thread somewhere.)
    So how about you?

    Just noticed

When you look at the column that shows who posted the last post, it says "DPWolf" at the thread regarding livestream and "Soundwave" next to the thread regarding stickies. Or maybe it's just me.
Well, that was all for the useless info today.

Caress your egos, KHV! Or not...

    As for me...
    • Not having changed my avatar or username at all
    • Androgyny
    • Signing my de-reps
    • Pissing people off
    • Appearing here drunk...a lot
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or if I forgot something.

    How about you?

Hello, you all! It's the first day of the month again, which means it's time for my perio- I mean, the Poetry Contest! I forgot to have the last one stickied, sorry about that. However, there were still a good amount of contestants this month too.

The winning poem this month was written by Ruon. The first steps to corruption as a result of grief were an interesting concept, and the collection of quotes to start with was a good idea. Congratulations!
That being said, I've made an exception this time but I'd rather that everyone submits his/her own poem in the future. I'm aware that this was difficult in the case of Ruon, but keep this in mind for next time.

Also, it needs to be said that Ruon's poem photo-finished with another wonderful poem. Runner-up this month was What? and his poem "Question". Congratulations to you too!

This month's theme is Justice. Just a random theme this month.
    Have fun and good luck!

Hey everyone! Sorry I'm so late. I was busy recently and unfortunately lost track of this. That's over now, for a while at least, and we can move on with the next contest.

Seen some interesting poems in June too. Some eras were picked that I wouldn't have guessed to be portrayed. Congratulations to all of you.
This month's winner is Shades with his poem "My Light". It had a lot of substance and his metaphor was simply astonishing. We loved it. Congratulations!

This month's theme is Death. This is of course inspired by the recent tragic passings but don't let that influence you if you want to make a general poem! We shall be neutral. Best of luck to you!
