"I am not putting this gun down!" Riku yelled, his eyes full of panic, "This is what has kept me alive in that desert and until I take over New Vegas, I will NOT put this gun down or hand it over to YOU! You make one move to take this away from me and I wil kill you!"
"Ah, I'm fine, really. But some disinfectant would be nice," Monica replied with a small, pained smile. She seemed a little apprehensive at Eden treating it. Kairi smiled, and noticed the fond exchange between the two. "That's right! We're not weaklings you know!," Kairi yelled.
Riku growled and threw his other weapons on the ground, in compliance with Sora. Well, all except one. He took out the last one, .357 Magnum Pistol, and aimed it at Mage's head. "What do you think this is?"
"Yeah and I hope our trio will stay together," Kairi murmured, remembering the tension from before. Monica nodded and began to walk. She winced from pain at first but was soon distracted from the wound as the sight of the gummi ship and the others appeared. She gasped, "Its all real.. Wow, a real gummi ship.. This is is just like the game. Amazing..."
"Heh don't try anything or you'll find out the hard way," Riku snarled, taking a step back with his hand only centimeters away from his weapons, "You may be a friend but I won't hesitate if you try to take my guns."
"Y-yeah.. " Monica said, nodding and stood up with the minimal pain possible. "Well I may be young to the game but just you watch, I'll surpass both of you," Kairi said with a giggle.
"Thanks Sora! You didn't do that bad yourself," she replied with a grin. "Thank you so much," Monica said with tears in her eyes from pain and fright, "I can't believe you're real Riku.. wow.."
"Well when the Legion comes to kill us, it won't be my fault," Riku snapped, a little bummed he wouldn't be killing anything, "And I'm not putting my guns away until we reach a building or somewhere safe." Boone crumpled the note and threw it at the guardian, furious at what happened. "Nobody steals my partner and gets away with it."
Kairi nodded and kept slashing at the heartless, glancing over at Sora from time to time. Meanwhile Monica tried to swing a book at a heartless, the last and most precious of her collection. The heartless hissed and swiped at her, making her gasp as she felt the claws make a deep gash in her leg. She glanced at it quickly and then back up, in time to see Riku slashing through heartless. "Riku!" she yelled, the first smile since everything began appeared on her face, happy someone was here to save her. The fact it was Riku was a bonus.
"Let's go!" Kairi yelled as she headed into battle herself. She did pretty well despite having minimal experience in battle. Kairi's spirit kept her constantly moving and determined not to fall behind Riku and Sora. She had remained glued to the window, frozen by fear. Now, as Monica gazed out at the sea of darkness, light emerged. She gasped and rushed to the door, throwing it open.. to a few heartless who had been waiting at the door. She screamed and threw a book which knocked a heartless on the head. The heartless were distracted and she took the chance to jump over them, trying to get past them.
"Finally," Riku exclaimed with much relief, "Let's go kill Legion members!" Boone looked at the guardian with a skeptical look, sobered up mind you. He took the note and looked at in distaste at the bright letters before beginning to read it..
"That looks bad. I think we should go down there and clear them out," Kairi suggested, looking determined to help in the fight. She really hated the fact she hadn't been able to do much before but now, she had a chance to shine as well. "There might be people trapped down there since there are so many dwellings," she added, looking concerned. With much hesitation, Monica looked out the window as an ominous feeling arose in her. She gasped as she saw the arising Dusks, her body starting to shake again, the books almost falling out of her grip. They would come for her, knowing they wouild sense her. Maybe there were other survivors that could lure them away from her. What was she thinking? That was a coward's way of thinking! Still, she thought as she placed a hand on her right arm, she was scared. These books could do nothing against those dusks except be a nuisance. They would steal everything precious from her and leave her with nothing.
"For which two?" Riku asked, annoyed that they were planning something again. He still needed to find that blasted Benny... Oh well, he thought, at least I found Sora.
Kairi watched as Riku and Sora went to the back for a private conversation, wondering what was going on between the two. They pair was usually on the best of terms and lately Riku had been getting more sour by the minute. It wasn't like it came out of nowhere though. Kairi had noticed the change between the two ever since the three of them had been back at the islands. Riku and Sora would get into more fights than usual, and serious ones too at times. Now, knowing the two could talk alone, it put her a bit at ease. If only she knew what was up with Riku. Somehow his moods always got worse when she was involved.. Kairi gasped, wondering if what she was thinking of could be possible. A small giggle escaper her, it couldn't be.. Monica quickly adjusted her glasses (I think I forgot to mention this in the description ^^; ) and adjusted the few books under her arms, ignoring the marks they had left from being pressed to her skin too long. She paced back and forth in her small apartment, keeping an eye out for any movements of shadows. Her mind still reeling from the new reality that had presented itself, the one with heartless around every corner. Fighting them in games was one thing, running from them in real life was scary. Even scarier when she realized she was trapped and unaware if any other survivors were out there. Her neighbor to the left was surely gone. She had seen it with her own eyes after she had gotten off work earlier, too beat to even hear her neighbor's yell to get back in the car. When Monica had looked up, the danger manifested in front of her. Her neighbour's heart had already been devoured by the time she had reached the top of the stairs, just in time for the heartless to turn their attention to her. Monica quickly raced to her own apartment, the one she frequently forgot to lock, tears distorting her vision as she thought of the young woman she frequently chatted with about the world and all its splendors. After that, everything was a whirl of glowing yellow eyes and screams of residents who knew nothing of the new world that had emerged. Monica hardly knew how she survived herself, only that the knowledge of the game had managed to keep her with a heart just a little longer. She clutched the books under her arm tightly, wondering for just how much longer.
"Right, let's go," Kairi agreed as she ran first, getting a head start on the guys, "Try not to get too far behind guys!"
"Let's hope you're right," Kairi muttered with a small laughing, looking for something to hold onto.
"Kan? What is that even supposed to mean?" Riku asked, growing suspicious.
