I have a little surprise in store for you guys later today. I'm going to upload a few files in the drive soon. I'll post when I do, just make sure you have a widescreen hack enabled on your emulator :D
We do need to all come together and learn how to properly edit ARDs. They way you guys are doing it now seems you are doing it one ARD at a time. There are ways to edit the same text within ARDs all at once so we don't have to copy/paste manually a million times.
Jeesh you guys and your early bedtimes. Am I the only one with Insomnia? :P
Actually after quickly watching a japanese gameplay of the game into it shows the new logos. So I guess if we end up updating the ps2 game with the new opening then we might have to change the logos to match. But if we can only do the ps2 opening then there is no reason to update the logos.
Technically I COULD but I like the originals :P
LOL as funny as this looks I think it would be better if he was still "Unknown" even if everyone knows who he is by now.
Added in my sig
I can make it, I have some stuff I'd like to share.
the FMV IS 16:9, just shrunk to fit on a 4:3 screen. That's why you see black bars.
Yay more early game coverage! I haven't watched it yet but yes I know for a fact that the original game had the Enter and Exit Tent. I have a game save (on the US version) at that exact spot.
The FMV fix removes the black borders on the top and bottom during a FMV scene such as the opening or ending. If you are playing on an emualtor WITHOUT this fix you will see random Kingdom Hearts logo garbage on those borders. This DOES NOT crop the FMV sequences FYI. Click these to see before & after below: Before (4:3) After (16:9) "hor" means "horizontal". And that is what adds the extra pixels to the sides of the gameplay, making it 16:9. Without it, the whole game looks fat :P
I would recommend you not waste discs testing the game. Otherwise you'll be out of discs before the game is finished. If you can emulate it, it will save you the hassle.
To the two new guys, we have How-To guides on some stuff on our public google drive we save everything on. All files and the drive link are in my sig. Just view the files in the "Tutorials and Notes" folder. The text is separated by world, so it is NOT scattered everywhere. View the "World Codes" document on the drive to know which ARDs has the text you want to work on. Just be sure to read "KHFM Translation Status" to find out who is working on what. Don't work on stuff people are already doing because you will just be wasting your time. As for translating, honestly knowing Japanese is great but it isn't really needed. If you own the US version of the game and extract the files you can compare the ARDs together and replace what matches.
I see. I'll look at them later. Might have the same issue I was having with Destiny Islands.
I'll check them later tonight. I don't want to get myself off track again like last night. I will finish up on the hercules ards which is my #1 priority then I'll take a look at your stuff. But tell me, what scenes take place in the disney castle ards? Does it take place while Sora is still on Destiny Islands? If that is the case, I won't have to play the game that long to get to the scene. Also you shouldn't have to use the FM strings for everything. I think cutscenes can use FM strings but everything else can be the US strings
In case anyone might have missed reading one of my recent posts: I know I lied about uploading HE ards last night. Those will be done tonight I promise ;) Also for those of you editing ARDs, It really makes it easier if you can test your own work in game and fix it before you upload it. I know some of you don't have that great of a computer but you can lower the settings in pcsx2 to see what works for you.
Honestly guys its not worth it. Just stick to translating and porting. Don't make this harder than it already is :P Someone said they wanted the widescreen pnatch, here it is: Code: gametitle=Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix (SLPS-25198) patch=1,EE,00110644,word,3c0143d6 //render fix patch=1,EE,00110b30,word,3c013f19 //hor value first half patch=1,EE,00110898,word,3421999a //hor value second half //FMV's fix patch=1,EE,002a6948,word,70007000 patch=1,EE,0010631c,word,3c071900 //black border fix patch=1,EE,00104334,word,00000000 patch=1,EE,00104454,word,00000000
gametitle=Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix (SLPS-25198) patch=1,EE,00110644,word,3c0143d6 //render fix patch=1,EE,00110b30,word,3c013f19 //hor value first half patch=1,EE,00110898,word,3421999a //hor value second half //FMV's fix patch=1,EE,002a6948,word,70007000 patch=1,EE,0010631c,word,3c071900 //black border fix patch=1,EE,00104334,word,00000000 patch=1,EE,00104454,word,00000000
Ha ha! That means my hack job method trumps your method! Muhahaha. Photoshop is my friend :D EDIT: Wait I lied, your proof of concept is better than mine. Let me re-read your guide :P[DOUBLEPOST=1376375263][/DOUBLEPOST] BAH you figured me out. That's what I was doing before you wrote the guide. That why I said earlier it cuts the resolution. I guess it's impossible to adjust the image size. We just have to crunch the image to 75% width and keep it within the same image size, lame.
This reminds me of the million different versions of DBZ Funimation pooped out because they wanted the episodes to "fill the screen" Ohh baby. Thanks a bunch, following it now. I'm sure I must've messed up somewhere
I haven't seen any playthroughs of the japanese 1.5 remix yet, are the cutscenes really zoomed? If that's the case then that instantly makes me not want to buy it.
