You don't replace an entire folder, you have to do it one file at a time.
So for example when you are using IMGreplace in the command prompt it will ask you what file to replace.
For things that are in the menu folder you must type "menu/sysfont.bin" instead of just "sysfont.bin" which is probably what you are typing.

I agree with gledson regarding OPL. I have that set up on my PS2 as well and its pretty amazing. It's essentially a modern version of HDLoader which I purchased years ago (which was dumb of me because a more updated version of it is freely available on the net). OPL combined with Free McBoot is probably the best softmod on the ps2. Anyway I know this is a bit off topic so lets drop it for now.

You said you replaced everything we currently had. But are you sure you replaced menu/sysfont.bin as well as SLPS_251.98? Those files from crazycatz add the english font tables to the game. sysfont.bin is in the Completed Files folder and SLPS_251.98 is in the In-Progress Files folder on the drive.

Wow I haven't responded to this thread in a while and its already filled with new posts! I'm so glad we are getting some more support here. I'm especially excited with crazycatz continuing success with new files. You are the reason most of us are excited to translate this game. ;)

On another note, I haven't posted anything to the drive since btltbl.bin. So the two things on my list right now are revising the unknown scene a bit and translating the cutscene after you beat him. I also want to finish the Dive to the Heart ARDs since those are pretty close to completion. When done, I will upload to the drive and notify you all by posting here.

Speaking of Google Drive: I may be nitpicking a bit but in all honesty we don't really need the Scripts folder. Since we have the fancy-schmancy ARD editor now and only need to use the string mapper for tiny or quick fixes, it would be better if all the files in that folder were converted back into .ard and be put into the "In-Progress Files" or "Completed Files" folder. I'm not talking about the two folders inside the scripts folder, but the two folders in the root of the google drive.

I couldn't figure out the first few referencing importing settings, but here's the rest:

    Final Mix difficulty descriptions
Refers to the ability to skip previously watched cutscenes.
    Auto & Manual camera options

Also uploaded a complete btltbl.bin to the completed files folder on the drive. Feel free to bug test.
There are still a few strings still named BTLTBL## but I have yet to encounter them in game. If you find anything you want to change or add, let us know what you change first so all of us can have identical files.

Yeah I offered setting up a Facebook Group where we all could chat. There is also a file upload section for the whole group to view and download files. No one said anything lol

I have that as well. It's useful for item/ability names but the descriptions are terrible. The following links are ones I've been using and are a bit more accurate.

    Abilities
    Accessories

Literally searching anything on kingdomhearts.wikia.com or khwiki.net will find what you need. Btw I'm almost done translating some FM only items on btltbl.bin that crazycatz00 didn't do and will post it soon.

DAMN you're fast. All I did so far was fix the shortened items and translated only like 7 ability descriptions. Mind sharing your file? :P
Btw in your video you have Mermaid Kick and Glide both say they need X and O respectively, they should be swapped in the FM version.

Can't wait for v2 of the ARD editor! You are pumping out some amazing work :D

Tested it out and OH MY GOD YOU JUST BLEW MY MIND! Can I kiss you or something?
Expect a fully accurate btltbl.bin uploaded later :D

Nice. Yeah since that is smaller than the japanese string you were able to fit it.

I attached it below. Also there are a bunch of other ARDs with the same strings (pc01 - pc15) but I believe this is the only one that gets used. Also I did not translate the cutscene after you beat him btw. Maybe later I will and edit this post.

I guess I can release what I've done with btltbl.bin. This contains a whole lotta items and abilities and whatnot. This also contains the interaction words when you walk up to things such as "Talk", "Examine", etc. Let me know if some of the action words may be incorrect because I was only testing the items.

You will notice in the screenshots that many items have been shortened or spaces have been removed such as "Power Shard" being "PowShar" or "EXP Earring" being "XPEring" because I couldn't fit the rest. This is as far as I'm going to get with this file unless we figure out a way to add more hex codes than normal. The only things that aren't translated in this file are the item descriptions due to that exact reason.

Oh and it contains the translated command menu ;)

Honestly I think it would be better if we started a facebook group or just simply chatted on google hangout (not a fan of skype lol)
With a facebook group though, we could post updates there and keep things more organized

Hmm maybe I should make a How-To video. After all, my youtube channel is based around How-Tos. I wouldn't mind at all.

Yup. I just grabbed some final mix game saves off gamefaqs and imported them into my pcsx2 mem card. some of them are saved at different parts of the game. That's how I was able to make that unknown battle video because someone saved right before that moment. Also, don't use save states.

I updated crazycatz google doc with info on what exactly I have done so far.
If any of you have began translating we could all keep track and write each others names like how I have it here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvBCRWkclDn2dHBrLXVrTEJpT3FyMTRY7OTNBNUxKSUE#gid=0

The link above as well as a shortcut to get to the string mapper & other tools are also found on crazycatz forum sig if you need to get to them later on. (Or bookmark that shizz! :D)

As for testing each others files and whatnot, it would be better if we only put completed files in our new soon to be dropbox folder. Honestly it would get annoying if I saw a dropbox notification every 5 seconds as someone was editing a file. Right now I would say I am 80% FULLY complete with "btltbl.bin" so if and when we share a folder, that will be the first thing I place in for you all to bug test.

Yes, all are in "btltbl.bin". I'm currently in the process on finishing that file. But like crazycatz said earlier:
This makes it super frustrating to change sentences, especially since the item descriptions in english are twice as long as the description in japanese.

To crazycatz, would it be possible if an extractor/inserter were made specifically for this file? Would that then fix the problem of a character limit in hex? If I recall, I was able to add extra text without error while translating with ARDs so maybe this process would work similarly?

Also a bit off topic but I have one more letter to add to your mapper :p
    0x19 0x5E = 燃
    (Needed to find Blaze Shard/Gem/Stone)

That letter currently exists in FM SYS as 0x1A 0xC7 but it may be incorrect
