yeah, that's exactly what I did. Got to max in no time. I'd recommend going downward to the place where all the Berserkers are. Just equip the oathkeeper and bond of flame and spam Fire all over them.
You're gonna need alot of patience to use the magic keys. I couldn't put one peice in so I found a way to use the swap magic without it. I think there's a vid on youtube showing the alternative to the magic keys.
reflect and cure are basically all you really need to survive. Well, more like just cure, but still, reflect is way useful.

I never used any drives during my first playthrough, I didn't change my keyblade either. I liked to keep things original. I'm just weird that way. But standard mode is really easy, and begginer is just plain cakewalk, playing on proud I actually had to change my keyblades. So I guess it really just depends on the mode. I didn't find the tutorials really confusing, I was just too lazy to pay attention lol.
in animes there are always dark emo-esque people. I seriously doubt Zexion is emo. He's just a dark, enigmatic type dude, that's fun to beat up lol.
you gotta good point with orgXIII's heartless. I wonder...it only shows Roxas's and Xemnas's heartless forms in the series. Axel, Xigbar, Saix and the rest of the org still have some...they would make some fun bosses. Maybe SE is gonna do something with them in a future title?

well, have you tried blocking this spear thrusts? it throws him off and you can stock a load of jumps, set Donald's spells off except cure. And make sure beast doesnt do any specials either. keep donald stocked with ethers and beast with hi-potions. make sure you're stocked with some too. Avoid Xaldin's attacks until you can get some jumps in, it breaks his Aero spell and does good damage, aerial combo to follow it up, then back off repeat until he turns green. when he turns green just run for it and keep away from him. Block the dragon's attack by mashing reflect. Be sure to put hi-potion, cure, reflect, and ether in your shortcuts. Rely on hi-potions for healing yourself and only use cure in emergencies. don't rush right into him like a maniac, that's not good. try to pull out beasts limit once in awhile to do some good damage (if beast's awake, that is). Mickey is a great asset in this battle for not only waking up Sora beast and donald, but he also does some major damage to Xaldin, given you are careful. Just stay on your toes and don't go too crazy, patience in key here, just keep trying. You'll get him soon enough...hope this helps.
