Leon's gunblade doesn't have a Keychain, it's just a decorative thing... Like his necklace. A Keyblade needs to resemble a key in some way, and sorry Pika_power, but as far as I can see, all the blades we see in the secret movies DO resemble keys... in some manner of speaking (after all, it doesn't need to be very obvious -look at Decisive Pumpkin!). Heh, just because Ven's shattered (after being frozen and chucked over the edge of a cliff) and Terra's is huge and can transform, doesn't mean they aren't Keyblades. As we know pretty much nothing about Keyblades, we can't really judge whether they are or aren't. We don't know whether Keyblades are unable to be broken when flash-frozen and hit really hard. We don't know whether Keyblades need Keychains to BE Keyblades. There's never been any certification from the makers of the games to say that! Or if there has, I've never had ANY glimpse of it.
Ven's blade tip is on backwards? Mmm... doesn't look that way to me. More like he's just holding it backhanded (like Saix does with his claymore)... I really gotta ask this... in what ways EXACTLY do you think Terra's blade doesn't seem like a Keyblade? I'm just trying to understand your way of thinking here... and at the moment, I can't...
Seriously... If I could vote multiple times on polls, I would on this one... Why must poll-makers say 'favourite'?! It's too difficult to choose for many things... lol
I like all of 'em... but ya gotta love Ven the Short... Go Chibis!! Lolol
Wow... you haven't seen Fenrir? Hmm... oh well, I found a (admittedly blurry) pic... Hope you can see it well enough... http://etudiant.univ-mlv.fr/~tdeville/fenrir.png
Fenrir doesn't look very key-ish at first glance... but it's modelled after a modern-style key. I don't see how Terra's blade looks like less of one than that... Looks more key-like than Star Seeker, anyways...
*shrug* Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, I guess... Even if they don't all make any sense to everyone else.
It doesn't make any sense for them to be 'failed experments'.... As my brother Shadows Of Oblivion said earlier in this thread... Who the hell would keep that many failed experiments? There are probably hundreds of THOUSANDS of blades there... They might be experiments, yeah.... but I sincerely doubt they'd be FAILED ones. And Pika_power? In answer to your question "would I think 'Oh, a massive key' if Terra's blade was the first I saw in the KH universe..." my answer is Yes.
There's no proof they are, and no proof they aren't. There has NEVER been anything in the games saying that a Keychain is needed, or that a Keyblade is unbreakable when frozen... And saying they aren't, or that they're inferior to the Keyblades Mickey, Sora, Riku and Kairi use has no real grounds. I think we should stop arguing/talking about whether they're Keyblades or not, or just 'inferior' until the GAME COMES OUT. Seriously, we've no proof either way. The Keyblade is a mysterious thing, and we will, eventually, without a doubt learn more about them, but until we see some solid IN-GAME-or-certified-by-the-people-who-MAKE-the-game PROOF there's no way we should be talking about it. The weapons look like Keyblades, Keychain or not... so why can't we just leave it at that? Heh, come to think of it, we know hardly anything about the blade Rikunort made in KH1... other than that it has the ability to unlock the heart and was made from the hearts of the Princesses...
There's no reason to judge whether it's a Keyblade or not based on size... I mean, look at Fairy Harp and Fenrir... or KHII Ultima... FH is TINY, but Fenrir and Ultima are among the longest Keyblades we see... And yeah, they might not be made from the same materials as the Keyblades we see Sora, Riku, Kairi and Mickey use, but that doesn't mean much..... Oh, and did anyone else notice that Aqua's blade DIDN'T smash when she was driven into the ground? Ven's would have ONLY because it was frozen.... Aqua's fell directly on what I'm pretty sure would be the weakest point... I'd say that Terra's, Ven's and Aqua's blades ARE Keyblades. Made specifically for them, to fit their individual fighting styles, and WITHOUT the need for a Keychain. There is no certification in the games that a Keychain is required for a blade to be a REAL one!
Hi bro... Heh, anyways, what I find the strangest about that is that it's 'Memory of Xehanort'... not 'MemorIES of Xehanort'... KH is becoming kinda renowned for taking normal phrases and turning them into the name of a species, so what if the term 'Memory' is intended to mean a creature created from someone's memories -probably forcibly removed...? Another thing to help with that is that 'Memory's wouldn't have much in the way of a physical form, as the body would still be with the person they were taken from... And it may mean that there are much more than we'd realise... coz what is the one similarity ALL Nobodies have -sans the lack of a heart? No memories of their previous life (Xigbar excluded here, chances are he'd've gone on recon missions)... It's not just Xemnas and Roxas who didn't remember... Heh, never know... that might be what the new creatures we see Terra fighting in the BBS scans are? Not to mention... maybe Sora didn't even fight the REAL Terra in FMII... he acted real weird, after all... Like "Okay, we've fought... *kneels back down* now go away." I reckon that's what the apprentice is... the Memory of 'Xehanort' (the Xehanort we've known up 'til finding out about Baldy)
I think they ARE Keyblades, just not ones like we've seen before. Umm... Pardon? A mechanical arm? Have you seen the pics for BBS? In one, Terra's holding an unconscious Ven with his armoured arm, and summoning his Keyblade with the other hand... And I agree with Shadows of Oblivion... There is NO certification that a Keybearer NEEDS a Keychain to wield a Keyblade...
Why? What makes you think Axel's situation is so unique that he wouldn't follow the same process as the others? I'm not saying this to seem like a Axel-hater (on the contrary, I'm an avid fan...) but be reasonable... Ela, Ale, Eal, Ael, Lea, Lae... they are all the possibilities. Please, to actually follow a sensible train of thought, don't try to suggest any others... If his original name WAS Alex, he'd have a Nobody name that has TWO 'x's!!
Okay... here goes. This is my take on all of them... Xemnas- 'Ansem' - certified Xigbar- Braig - certified Xaldin- Dilan - certified Vexen- Even - certified Lexaeus- Aeleus - certified Zexion- Ienzo - certified Saïx- Aïs ("Ice" with a bit of an accent, I mean, look at his personality!) Axel- Lea ("Lee"... I can't understand why people might think it's 'Ale'... that's a drink! Or something that'd be said like 'Eel'... And ALL of the Org. members had an 'x' added to their names, so 'Alex' is out of the question...) Demyx- Myde ("My-dd", to me, it fits...) Luxord- Dulor... although, the 'Rould' MAY fit... dunno... Marluxia- His is the hardest, having the most letters, but Marulai is the first I thought of, and I'm sticking with it... at least it doesn't sound like a girl's name... Larxene- Relena. Arlene makes me think of the cat from the Garfield comics... Please don't bite my head off if you don't agree... and I'll try not to do the same to you... As for that comic about Axel's "real name", my response is "Dream on."
I have a question... why do a lot of people think that Marluxia's name was originally 'Lumaria'? I mean, yeah sure, his hair's pink, his element involves flowers... but he's obviously a guy (as is Saix, btw... dunno why someone came up with it being otherwise...) Lumaria sounds like a girls name... and just doesn't fit him... This is my theory on VII-XII Saix- Ais Axel- Lea Demyx- Myde or Dyme Luxord- Dulor Marluxia- Marulai ("mah-roo-lie") it's the best I can come up with for now... and is certainly more likely (in my view) than Lumaria Larxene- Relena
Heh, may as well... Hmm... random Nobody... Name- Ximé Element- Darkness Weapon- Bladed chain Number- III
Umm... Okay, SE is being annoyingly secretive with VII-XII... but no harm in trying to speculate, right? And what makes you so sure Axel's name WASN'T Lea? It's (in my mind) the most likely of the lot... prob'ly pronounced "Lee"...
Marluxia- Ever seen drunk Wizard Heartless having 'fun'? Sora- Huh??! *gets cursed*
I've got one, though it might have been put up before (sorry if it has) When you read a list like this and realize you're guilty of most of them... (Mmhmm!!)
I'm guessing you're a big fan of Axel's, huh, Redeyesblackdragon? Well, hate to sound cynical, or like an Axel-hater (I got a soft spot for him), but -unfortunately- he's dead... why else would his Proof have been red? And why would the Organization've let a non-Nobody into their ranks?
