Some of you may have heard of this, a lot probably haven't. It's a relatively old story but one I find to be cool nonetheless. So. Meet God. This is a Helix Nebula, a cloud of dust created from the remains of a destroyed asteroid found quite far away from earth, but still being only 700 light years.(Making it one of the closest planetary Nebulae to Earth in all the universe). When this image was found in 2003, (the nebula itself having been discovered long ago) a lot of people freaked and thought, "That's the eye of god looking at us through space!". It was reported by many Religious institutions and churches that this was 100% proof that god was real, and that this was him in a physical form. That's where my memory bests me. I can't remember what happened after that, but I can tell you that's no eye of the creator. Thoughts?
Argument is inevitable in situations where 2 people from differing ideologies meet, and one says something ignorant.
Whoever told you those things about the bible is smart, those are all proven facts.
That's only one of the many statements in the bible that contradicts the real world, and reflects the ignorance of the men who wrote the bible, based on what they knew of their planet at the time. The Old Testament says the world is Flat. It's clearly not. If the bible were written by God you'd think he'd know the world was a sphere.
Okay so by your logic, the logic of, "Well what if you're wrong?". That's a cowardly and untrue way to live your life, being a christian, just in case, is not faith. If I were to make such a life commitment I'd want to do it because I truly believe, and I don't, so I won't. Let me ask you, what if YOU'RE wrong? Yeah, I'm an atheist so if god exists in any form, I'll be going to hell. And what about you? You're christian, what if Christians are wrong? Why are you taking the chance? Shouldn't you be a Hindu? Wouldn't want to be reincarnated as a toad for not following your dharma, right? I just don't understand, WHY are you taking the risk? I mean, what have you got to lose? Right? ...right?
That's very possible, but it's much more plausible that the original writers of the bible truly believed in a god or a higher power. You see without scientific theory and method to explain anything, people tried to come up with their own explanations for things like the weather the movement of the stars and such. The personification of these scientific phenomena seemed plausible and understandable to ancient people, the added introduction of moral integrity was just things added to the religion by corrupt people who wanted to control the masses through the use of god, something that everyone at the time believed in without question.
WTF IS THIS ****!? c
It's quite hilarious actually. If you look on google, "deleted recycle bin" is the second most searched thing beginning with "del"
Another couple? Well you all know what this means. Orange and I are back together. Whoever took our Cat/parrot is to give him back or suffer irreversible damage to their cornea.
