I'm painfully susceptible to quality romantic fanfictions, regardless of the characters. X3

Yeah, it's a rather generic anime style. I think one of my problems with my earlier drawing is I tried to make her lanky. Lanky girls are not very good for me. ;_; I usually make my legs a lot more defined with much 'curiver' limbs and such. I'm working on the next right now and trying not to do the lanky thing again. ^^; While I should venture out with things I'm not familiar with, I think I'm going to try to get more practice before I attempt it.

For tablets Wacom is the best brand overall, but for cheap ones I've seen them as low as $40 for a 4x5 one. I have an Intous3 4x6, because I don't really need anything bigger. Wacoms are preferred because the pens are cordless and don't require batteries. Another ting about Wacom is you can buy pens seperately- which is something not all tablet makers do.

I'm not aware of what your budget is, but I highly suggest you go to CompUSA. Due to financial problems they're closing about %50 of their stores. Hopefully there will be one closing near you, because their prices are going to be megassa low. :3 I saw this adorable little notebook there. It was only $457 for an half widescreen display, 1.5 G Hz, 512MB memory, and 60 GB HDD. I really regret not buying it. Even though I'm not really sure what I would have used it for, it was a really cute computer. :3

Shin-chan is considered anime because it's an animation that was created in Japan.

Other anime that has also been aired by [as] in the past:

    Blue Gender
    Escafowne Movie
    Kikaider
    Gingantor [lawl]
    Wolf's Rain
    Big O

Lupin III is an anime, just an old one.

I totally just made that phrase up.

The theory goes like this: If you've ever submersed your hand in really hot water, not to the point of boiling, but where if turns your hand red after a few seconds, you'll notice that it's so hot that it actually feels like very cold water. Same thing goes with water just above freezing temperatures. People who go artic diving say the water is so cold it feels as though it's hot.

Usually it refers to something abandoned. Something that has been given up, or left to be.

Proportioning in anime style mostly depends on the artist, it varies from them. There is a general thing but when you compare anime like Simoun and NANA there's a very lucid difference.
I didn't plan on getting to into depth with this drawing since it's strictly lineart, and I usually save the depth for the painting stage. Yeah I know, the clothing lines aren't bunching very well, are they? XD I think I'm going to go Google socks...

Yeah, there are programs that simply digitally-ink drawings. My friend off 2chan made one called Out of the Inkwell, which is very good for creating lines that are the same width the whole way through. I don't think he has the software up for download anywhere yet though. There are some other private ones out there too. Programs like Adobe Illustrator come with features like Live Trace, but it doesn't work every well IMO. They tend to make the lines very flash-like [if you've ever seen a crappy flash you'll know what I mean].

The colored one was extremely easy because it required little to no anatomy. I didn't spend quite enough time on this drawing. About 4 hours if you actually timed it, but since I as stupid enough to do it in my technology corner I got distracted and was off and on doing random crap online and playing DOA4 at the same time.

/ic/ says a good coloring job increases quality up to %40. Not sure if it works for everyone, but it definitely works for me and Koba-kun.
