It also says "5000 euros" so I' m guessing it' s an ad for some kind of lottery. Our national lottery used the same concept in a whole slew of different ads : what would you do if you won ?

Here' s one of them, "Bye bye Mr CEO !"

A friend of mine who fell in love with the GTO anime watched this one. He said it was basically the same story, just more grounded in reality, and he loved it.

I loved GTO too, especially the manga, but the eccentricity of the original was a big part of its charm to me and I' m no drama fan, so I never watched it.

    Oh hi !

I believe that' s called the stable time-loop, as a storytelling device, but we actually have no way to tell what would or wouldn' t make sense if time travel was indeed possible. We' d have to try to see what happens.

Asserting which kind of logic would apply in those conditions, without any means to test such a hypothesis, would qualify as an argument from ignorance. More commonly known as an ass-pull. People asserting that "the big bang has to have a cause" or that "something cannot come from nothing" make the same mistake : they try to apply common sense where it doesn' t apply anymore. When it comes to what can or cannot happen before the big bang/in pure nothingness/in a time travel, truth is all bets are off.

Besides, we' re used to look at time from our human linear perspective, but I' ve read several different takes on it, ranging from "I don' t understand a word of it but it comes from a scientific journal" to "complete crackpot theory", such as this one : http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Time_Cube

Oh and btw, a while ago there was a thread here about scientists possibly finding faster than light neutrinos. If memory serves it was posted by Machina. Here' s a quick follow-up : http://www.scientificamerican.com/a...n-light-neutrino-experiment-leaders-step-down

I said impossible for now, given the energy sources we know of now.
I' d be curious to see your calculations though ...

As far as we know that' s impossible to do : e=mc2
The m stands for mass, the e for energy. Whatever your starship mass is, the amount of energy required to travel faster than light would be so tremendous that your ship wouldn' t be big enough to transport that much energy source. Increasing the size of your ship would increase the required amount of energy more than it would increase its storage capacity. Not to mention more energy source = more mass.

In short, we haven' t found yet any energy source that would allow us to do that, not even close. Besides, I think I remember reading somewhere that Einstein himself stated this was all entirely hypothetical, we' d have to actually get faster than light to be sure of the consequences of such a travel.

As for time travel in general Machina pretty much covered it up.

I' ll just state that more guns = more gun victims, it' s a no brainer really, and leave this here :

I' d like to see which ending people want to be true. Here are your options :

1 - Cobb is in the real world.
2 - Cobb is stuck in limbo.
    3 - I just can' t say for sure.

Additionally, and this is the reason I didn' t put any poll in this thread, I' d like you to say whether you' re theist or atheist, I wonder if a correlation will arise. Not that I could jump to any conclusion if there was, but I' m curious nonetheless. The Inception wikipedia page says Nolan noticed that people who have kids tend to pick 1.

    I' ll start :
    3 - I just can' t say for sure.
    Atheist.

Well, at the risk of sounding insensitive, I' m much more interested in reading what kind of change people would like this tragedy to sparkle than in reading an endless litany of crocodile tears. That is if such changes even occur, every time there' s someone to say that things are gonna change but that it would be insensitive to talk about it immediately ... and then everyone forget and nothing is done.

It' s hard to find an article about that shooting that doesn' t jump to gun control at some point, the two topics aren' t entirely unrelated.
I know there is a topic dedicated to guns in general, but this kind of article for instance seems more appropriate here, as a current event matter, than in the general gun debate topic : http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/15/u...-shooting-sets-stage-for-gun-debate.html?_r=0

Many more such articles might sprout up in the future so ... your call I guess, were do those belong ?

Lol. They' ll probably just say "Lay Miz". I purposefully pronounce English movie titles with an excessive French accent when I buy tickets, I know people won' t understand me otherwise. Hell, I remember that one time I asked a ticket for Return of the King.
    Hostess : Huh ? A ticket for what ?
    Me : ...
For the Lord of the Ring.

Well yeah, my statement was a blatant generalization. As I rephrased it later on, what puzzles me is why so many Americans want a gun. As a foreigner it weirds me a little.
First, just because it' s in the constitution doesn' t mean it' s good or can' t be changed (hello slavery). Second, as far as I know all it mentions is the "right to bear arms". Back then guns could only shoot a single bullet, and it took freaking forever to even load one. You wouldn' t interpret that sentence as a right to own a tank, a rocket launcher or a nuclear bomb, would you ?

When did "some people wouldn' t want to obey that law" become a good enough reason not to pass or enforce it ? I' m not saying I' m in favor of a ban, hell, this isn' t even my problem, I' m just pointing out how feeble that argument is.

From scratch ? I think it would be very anecdotal. I occasionally smoke pot, let me assure you that it is a lot harder for me to find some than to buy cigarettes, despite the fact that concealing a tiny seed and growing it at home is much simpler than to build a gun. I' m aware a ban wouldn' t make guns disappear completely, but it would severely reduce their number nonetheless.

Lol, I guess I was right on the money with my "phallic toy" remark. ^^

Oh sure, I wasn' t denying that. But then I don' t think the main difference between Europe and the US is gun control per say. We can buy guns in my country too, but very few people actually want one. Good luck teaching Americans not to want their good ol' phallic toy. Not that it should discourage you to tighten up controls of course, it' s not like it could make things worse.
