I think the little reading part at the end of KH was the letter. I think they eventually got the letter from Pluto.

Maybe during his journey he aquired them. It was never specificed as to where just that in the time lapse that you got new clothes. But it was a little odd that when he reverted back to his normal self the clothes seemed to shrink with him.
