Your friend might have an accelerated metabolism; I knew a girl who was like that in high school. Does your friend exercise a lot? Is she fat, skinny, tall, short, etc.?
Umm, not exactly; a pound of muscle and a pound of fat weigh the same: A pound! I think what you mean is that muscle is more dense than fat. If you have more muscle on you, you burn much more calories than you would if you were fat.

As for what you could/should do, take some of these tipbits:

    1. Eat til your not hungry anymore, not til your stuffed. Thing of it is, when your body's had enough food, it doesn't suddenly press a button that tells you 'okay, tank's all full, you're good to go!'; it takes a little time before it gets to that point. Eat a little bit at a time, like say, a small plate (a regular size portion of chicken and rice, for ex.), then wait a few minutes. If you still feel hungry after the few minutes, have a little bit more, like some veggies, or some other thing. Just don't pig out...like I used to do.

    2. If you follow #1, you're going to get hungry later, within a few hours. Believe it or not, that's a good thing. That means: Snack time! Do the same thing as #1; have a little bit until you're not hungry anymore. Here's where it gets a annoying, though. Don't get the stuff that's packed with sugar, like cookies, ice cream, etc. Get something with lots of protein, like yogurt (excellent, since it has a lot of nutrients and protein, which the body needs, and has been clincally proven to help with diets), or peanut butter and crackers/apples/whatever.

    3. Get some exercise! If you're not pigging out, then you'll burn more calories than you're putting in. Plus, it will give you an excuse to eat more, once you burn more fat and replace it with some muscle. Evenutally, these will become second nature to you, and you won't eat any more than you need.
