Okay, I guess I'll completely spell this all out because people don't seem to get the implication here :| Storage has been an issue for the Wii since it launched, the Wii provides a lot of downloadable services via Wii Channels like the "Check Mii Out", a ridiculous amount of Virtual Console games, the new WiiWare service, Wii game saves, and the potential for games to have downloadable content. The problem being, that the Wii's internal memory is 512mb big :| Wii owners who enjoy the services that Nintendo provides and thus have plenty of VC games and WiiWare games are finding that there is not enough storage to hold the games, and they reach a point where the Wii tells them they have to remove other content off the system to fit it. So it reached the point where people would have to delete and redownload games if they want to play them, or put them on an SD card and swap them out constantly So people wanted a storage solution, like an external hard-drive for the system so that they can enjoy the many services without having to worry about space, and perhaps other things that the PS3 and 360 get to enjoy because of their hard-drives would be available to Wii owners, and Developers could make use of it as well for their games. Nintendo has been stalling on the storage solution for awhile, and the implication here is that this may finally come to an end sometime soon, as it appears Nintendo has developed an external hard-drive that connects to the Wii via the USB ports and is being utilized for these Starlight Foundation Fun Centers. Now, it's rather aggravating that this was basically sneakily implemented by Nintendo, and in no way ever announced that a final product had been developed, much less whether it would be available to consumers any time soon, but regardless this is a sort of proof of concept that the problem may be alleviated soon. The important factor of the whole "installing and booting games without a disc", is that this was a very significant next-gen features that the PS3 put in place, and then microsoft followed suit and implemented into their console, and it was believed that the Wii probably wouldn't be capable of it. Now the important thing here is not that you can boot a game without having to pop the disc in, the practical thing here is that Developers would have the option of installing portions of games onto the hard-drive in order to allow for better load times, framerate, draw distance, texture rendering, like how PS3 games have been capable of doing for awhile (which is why in games like GTA4 it's been said the PS3 has better load times and less texture pop). And another thing with the Hard-Drive is that Wii games would finally be capable of receiving patching, updates, and downloadable content for games to be stored on the hard-drive So the significant thing here is that this is a sort of proof of concept that the Wii is capable of a good number of next-gen features that the System was previously left in the dark with and thought unable to take advantage of, and this shows that it has the potential to do those. The unfortunate thing here is that we don't know if this hard-drive, or any of the aforementioned features or services, will actually be delivered to the mass Wii consumer base, or even for Developers to take advantage of in the future...we don't know if they have any plans to actually give this to us :| but yeah, we can hope at the very least that Nintendo won't be completely ******ed.
....yeah, you both seemed to have severely missed the point here
....neither of these features are available to the average Wii consumer Now you may be thinking; "uwhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!?" And you'd be right to do so. So, Nintendo is a very charitable company, they like to help the kiddies and give mass quantities of their products to childrens charities, hospitals, schools, and the like. Now, one of Nintendo's more recent ventures was their "Starlight Foundation Fun Centers", which are Wii system kiosks that Nintendo gifted to several Children's Hospitals throughout the country for all the kiddies to play with. It just so happens that a particular Wii hacker and system modder from WiiHacks.com got the opportunity to come in contact with these new fangled kiosks when he took his son to a Children's Hospital for a broken leg, and he discovered something very interesting: The Wii systems in the Starlight Fun Centers had Hard-Drives, and not only that, with the use of the Hard-Drives, the Wii was capable of installing and booting entire retail Wii games, akin to what the PS3 has taken advantage of with several titles, and what Microsoft recently announced the 360 would obtain capabilities of with the "New Xbox Experience" Dashboard update this fall So, Nintendo has already developed a fully functioning Wii Hard-Drive, and system functionality for installing and booting entire full games from the system with no need for the disc to be in the system, showing that the system is capable of game patching, installations to help texture rendering and load times, etc....but the catch here is, they haven't given any of this to the consumers at all! Nintendo has made no mention of these functionalities having been in development, much less that they would be available in future firmware updates, or that Developers would be able to make use of them at all http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2008/09/17/wii-fans-wish-come-true-nintendo-fun-center-in-action/ The Starlight Foundation Fun Center kiosks come installed with over 20 full retail Wii titles including Mario Galaxy, Elebits, Excite Truck, Carnival Games, Zack & Wiki, Super Paper Mario, Fire Emblem, and more that can all be booted and played straight from the Wii startup menu. Now, even if we were to be conservative here and say that the average Wii game is only around 1GB in size, at the very least the Wii Hard Drive in these Kiosks could be estimated to be over 20GBs in size....
I don't see what the big deal about November 9th was, I think I found 20£ on the ground that day, seemed like a pretty good day to me.
I'm aware. I'm pretty sure it's a troll website and meant to be satirical.
It's where the reviews you've been posting come from. http://objectiveministries.org/zounds/gaming.html
Is entirely heterosexual.
It's about Touhou, I presume.
Uhh, I'm pretty sure Christian Gaming Zone is a well known satire/spoof troll website, akin to that of Sony Defense Force and the like.
My bad, I seemed to have misinterpreted the thread title, I thought it was requesting examples of ignorant and/or stupid things we personally have heard in relation to video games, and I had attempted to make a simply light-hearted joke Though I am so glad that this forum is accepting of mistakes and were really great sports about it and wonderfully understanding when a user misposts, it's truly fantastic. Also, I like how I got negative rep telling me to "f*ck off", that's really great, your website is a wonderful place KH-Vids, bravo to you. and I really got a kick out of the part where 3 other users felt the need to spam in a thread in order to mention to me that I was spamming, I mean, that's totally not hypocritical at all, for reals.
http://www.ontheissues.org/Social/Barack_Obama_Abortion.htm Do you read your own links, Dr. Mario? I don't see what you find wrong with Barack Obama's statements on the matter, the reasons he's given for his stance on the matter in one of the links you yourself just posted help you understand his position much more then other pro-life propaganda websites twisting and warping what he says ( andin one of your links, it was something his wife said that they used to attack him?) "I explained my belief that few women made the decision to terminate a pregnancy casually; that any pregnant woman felt the full force of the moral issues involved when making that decision; that I feared a ban on abortion would force women to seek unsafe abortions, as they had once done in this country. I suggested that perhaps we could agree on ways to reduce the number of women who felt the need to have abortions in the first place." Barack Obama wants to help make it so that the unwanted pregnancies that lead to abortions never have to happen in the first place, but no amount of effort is going to prevent them from happening period, and as such he believes that the laws in place should be of the nature to protect these people and help them, not hinder them or have laws that force a particular moral value on them, potentially leading to these people going to dangerous or unsafe ends. On the note of partial-birth abortions, as I noted earlier, a fetus' nervous system and other vital organs are not developed enough to feel pain or technically be considered "alive" until after the 20 week mark, sometimes even later (5-6 months). As one of the links you provided stated, partial-birth abortions take place during the 4-5 month period, but not after 20 weeks. Not to mention the fact that partial-birth abortions are not the norm, most abortions are done much earlier at the 1-3 month period, where the child is significantly less developed, and as I mentioned before, after the 9 week mark most doctors will not perform the procedure.
The period in which a woman can abort a fetus is within 3 months of conception, or around 9 weeks, after that point the procedure is not legally able to take place. The point in which a fetus has developed enough to have a functioning nervous system to feel pain is roughly 20 weeks. At the very latest period in which an abortion is legally allowed to take place, the "child' is not developed enough to feel pain, or even be medically claimed "alive", as vital organs have not even fully developed; the "child" is nothing more than a mildly developed clump of cells.
where yo curly mustache at
That's not funny, my brother died that way.
The reason forest wildlife hunting exists, and should continue to exist, is because (unfortunately) Humans have pretty much destroyed most wildlife ecosystems, to the point where through urbanization and expansion we have wiped out the predator population for our own safety, destroying the food chain. This means that the prey population has little to no predator population in place to keep their numbers in check, and therefore they have nothing keeping them from multiplying beyond the capacity of the environment to sustain their young. Since no predators are killing the prey animals, the prey population still has the desire to procreate, and with nothing actually killing the adult and young population via the food chain, their numbers grow exponentially with nothing actually killing them. This leads to mass starvation of the population, over-grazing of farm and forest land, mass disease and illness among the herds, and it causes the animals to wander into cities and human populated areas where they can be hit by cars, assaulted or mistreated by the general population, poisoned from eating our garbage, and other such means of causing harm to themselves. Humans over time have destroyed the natural relation between predator and prey, we're the reason why the predator population is near non-existent, so the reason Hunting exists is because we now have the responsibility of being the predators. This is why there are "Deer seasons" and "Duck seasons" for Hunting, because hunting is permitted in times where the prey population is procreating and we have to act as a predatory force to prevent overpopulation.
That could be just as bad, Xaldin, because it gives the impression that at some point in the game that door will not be locked and you will be able to use it.
I thought it was confirmed for the PSN? Also, eww, link to the High Quality version Xaldin, Youtube's regular quality does not do this game justice, it's ****ing beautiful.
Two of your dogs learned the secret to fusion, like the Wonder Twins? that's pretty boss, congrats
