Hannah wasn't listening the conversation; she was watching Beatrice, who was standing in the corner with her back against the wall. She can't perk up? Isn't being with us what she wanted? Michael was also looking at Beatrice. From the way everyone else appeared, there had been a fight. He wasn't going to ask questions now though; everyone was busy with the newcomer.
Hannah smiled at Jinx's comment, remembering how much she didn't like Edward when she first met him. Hannah didn't hear a reply from Beatrice, but she did hear her following.
I may not be a religious person... but he's probably better off and enjoying himself wherever he is.

She and her partner took the chance of the young man's back being turned and quietly hurried across the rows of books. They needed to get to the exit. They'd gotten what they'd come for. Their enemy shouted something, and all the bookcases shuddered. Whatever he'd yelled has caused the bookcases to turn, fall over, or rock back and forth.
