You know, it's strangely tempting to make an antagonist for this RP... x.x
This... this OC took forever to do... I went old school and went into detail. My eyes hurt, my finger ache... not to mention I feel reluctant to share his bio! x.x Name: Ulrich Ravenhardt Age: 17 Appearance: Spoiler Spoiler Height: 5'9" Eye Color: Amber Hair Color: Black Clothing: Red trench coat (leather), blue jeans, work boots, plain white T-shirt Accessories: Fingerless black gloves (leather, studded knuckles), silver locket w/ chain (inside is a picture of his previous family; the exterior has an engraving of the moon with a pentagram in its center) Scars: Ulrich has scars from bullet wounds and blades all about his torso, and along his right shoulder is a long, ragged scar that came from a wicked looking blade. His hands, without the gloves, reveal large puncture marks. Affinity: Earth Personality: Spoiler Ulrich appears to be a lazy, happy-go-lucky boy whose smile often shows ignorance and bliss. However, deep down, he's like every other orphan. Hurt and lonely. Like his fellow witch and wizard, he harbors strong hatred towards those who had done him wrong. However, he's quite sensible and will not attack anyone out of spite. Though he's level-headed and calm, Ulrich tends to be a clown and a smartass. He also has a strong desire to be anonymous, not wanting to be the reason that those he cares for to be hurt. He is willing to take a beating and he will never give up, regardless how grave the situation seems... Ulrich doesn't like to be seen as strong, and so he forces himself to appear as weak as possible. Nevertheless, he is only as strong as he is intelligent. Ulrich can be creative, at times, and is often clever. He often tries to weasel his way out of trouble, but has no qualms in interfering with other's affairs, so long as it is the right thing to do. Ulrich's knowledge of earth magic stems from geology and astronomy, both of which he learned at a young age from his foster parents. Because of this, and his own flexible way of thinking, he could be a very powerful earth-wizard if he truly aspired to be. An interesting personality trait of his is his charisma. His charisma is born from his friendly-nature and his ability to sympathize with everyone on a very emotional level. Due to this, he is also a very self-sacrificing person, willing to do anything for those around him. Although, hypocritically, he does not burden people with his own problems. This may be due to his desire to remain anonymous and to keep them detached from him. Another positive personality trait he possesses is that he will keep all of his promises. Especially one in particular... Bio: Spoiler Ulrich doesn't remember his original family, but he does remember waking up in a laboratory of sorts with a man and woman looking down at him. The man, middle-aged and rough, had cynical eyes; dull, cold, tired. The woman, however, had eyes of compassion; bright, warm, lively. Ulrich was young when he had met them, only seven years old. He was badly wounded when he was found, it's a wonder he even survived. Ulrich came to know them as "mother" and "father". Ulrich was already told by the old man, a doctor he stated, that they were not his parents... but this didn't stop Ulrich from creating that familial bond. The old man served as Ulrich's teacher, and Ulrich was taught the subjects of alchemy, ranging from geology, minerology, and even to astronomy. To the old alchemist's surprise, Ulrich was an astute child and eventually opened up the master-apprentice relationship. That relationship deepened when Ulrich spent time with his foster mother. Ulrich helped her with the garden, and even revealed his magical nature to them. They were regular humans, of course, but the alchemist found it to be an academical goldmine to his research. The woman, of course, found it an impressive talent and even gave Ulrich praise for when their garden became lush and rich. Over the past five years, Ulrich was eventually an official family member and had adopted the surname "Ravenhardt", son and apprentice to Doctor Ravenhardt, the physician and alchemist of the village. Ulrich had many friends, but when his secret got out, the parents forbade their children from seeing him. Eventually, everyone in the village ignored the existence of their residential doctor. As the death toll in the village rose, so to did the attention. The military took initiative to investigate the village. They listened to the rumors the villagers had and eventually they paid a visit to the doctor and his wife. They were interrogated and they denied everything. The military left the village for some time and returned a month later, a raiding party at its back. Torches and blades and guns were raised, poised, and ready. They assaulted the village, burning it all to the ground, slaughtering everyone that got in their way. Men, women, and children... they were all killed indiscriminately. Eventually, they came to the Ravenhardt clinic. The doctor and his wife ushered the young Ulrich out through the cellar. And he ran, but not before hearing the bone-chilling screams, the cacophony of destruction, that occurred above. Ulrich ran and ran until he found a way out. He exited a small cave that was only a mile away from the village, and there he saw the flames and smoke beyond the horizon of trees. Ulrich cried. He felt alone, but ultimately he felt hurt. It felt as if his heart had been ripped out of his chest and shoved down his throat. He couldn't breathe, he couldn't stop crying. The pain was unbearable. Ulrich didn't leave, and simply sat against the cave wall, bawling his eyes out. In a matter of hours, he stopped crying and became catatonic. The sounds of marching didn't even stir Ulrich, and even when the source arrived, he didn't move. They were there, glaring at him, their expression was one of disgust. When they aimed their weapons, however, Ulrich stared at them, his eyes devoid of emotion despite his saddened expression. A spark of anger ignited within him, and that anger quickly became an inferno of rage. The earth arose and swallowed them up, but their heads were still above the ground. Ulrich didn't show any emotion. He let them stay there, crushing them slowly. Their screams and howls lasted for hours, until eventually they died. Ulrich passed out from the effort. When he next woke up, he was still near the cave, being pelted with rain and those exposed heads of the soldiers remained wide awake, frozen in a silent scream. Ulrich felt nothing for them. He left them, lost in a haze of despair. He ventured from village to village, town to town, and city to city. Each place he visited, he killed soldiers and he killed many people, making them choke on the dust in the air, making them be crushed by the buildings, and even murdering them with his barehands. His fits of rage were uncontrollable, and he was forced to flee. This happened for two years, until he met another orphaned wizard. She was older than he was and she was beautiful. Her hair was long and dark, her eyes were the same shade as his, and she was truly perfect. She wore a red leather trench coat. She took him in and they lived in a hut outside of civilization and on a farm. Ulrich remained cold and distant, and his new small family with three other Affinities didn't affect him as much as he would've liked. Eventually he came to love them, and in a year, he confessed his sins to Rosie, the woman who took him in. She believed in forgiveness, she told him. She held him tightly thereon, preaching to him how much he meant to her. Rosie was well known for her compassion. She saw everyone she had assisted as family and loved them deeply. One month afterwards, Ulrich became more open, following the advice of Rosie. He became fast friends with those around him and eventually developed a special connection with Rosie, who was also an earth-user. He looked up to her and helped her whenever. Eventually, she gave Ulrich a gift. It was a silver locket, and inside was a picture of her and himself, with the three other children who were much younger than Ulrich. To his dismay, however, tragedy befell them as the military discovered their whereabouts. It was a smaller unit, but they ambushed the hut. The first to go was Rosie, and Ulrich stood where he was, his legs shaking. He couldn't move, he was torn apart, truly devastated. The children were killed systematically as they were huddled together, crying. When they saw Ulrich, he stopped his shaking and howled in rage and despair. The entire hut exploded as a multitude of spikes appeared, and on each spike was a soldier, dead or dying as they were impaled upon them. It rained again, and he felt nostalgic. He heard a soft, gentle voice calling his name. It took Ulrich a moment to find the source... Rosie. He approached her quickly, holding her tight and begging her not to die. They both knew she wouldn't live. She told him that she loved him, that she knew he was special. He was meant for something great. Ulrich couldn't say anything, he simply lay his own forehead on her's. "Promise me that you won't go after any more soldiers... that you won't kill anyone else..." she begged him, coughing. "Forgive them... please... for me..." she added, reaching around weakly to stroke his dark hair. Rosie was smiling. Ulrich didn't have the strength to speak, and so he simply nodded as best as he could. Her smile widened and she pecked on last kiss on Ulrich's forehead, sighing contently. Ulrich mourned her death throughout the night, unable to sleep. When it became time, he stripped her of her jacket and donned it upon himself, burying Rosie and the children upon that farm. He made their headstones with the rocks he conjured, and their names were engraved upon it. From that moment on, Ulrich died and was reborn in the image of Rosie. He left the farm and ventured the globe, searching for a home that would never fade away... Other: Ulrich is smarter than he appears, and is often a tad bit more wiser due to his perception of things. He's also very good at conserving his magic, allowing him to appear to have more endurance than the average earth wizard. Unlike most earth users, Ulrich prefers to use dust. EDIT: Also, be warned that the bio MIGHT be too graphic.
Ulrich snapped to, from being cowardly to sympathetic. Haley jumped in on their conversation, and he nodded. "No matter what," he said to no one in particular. "We'll be there for each other." Ulrich yawned and walked a few paces, then turned. His smile returned. "So... what's the plan, then?" Ulrich asked Haley.
"You would be happier and unhurt, I suppose," he guessed, his tone sympathetic. Before he could reply to Ariana's question, however, Ulrich leaped from his spot and turned to Jo. "Ack! Don't scare me like that!" He said, wide-eyed and genuinely frightened. "And what the Hell are you singing anyway? What are you even saying?!" Ulrich asked, trying to fold into himself.
Ulrich chortled. "I'm not sure where we're headed... but hopefully it's somewhere peaceful. It would do everyone wonders if they could relax and enjoy themselves, rather than try and fight those who caused them misery. Revenge only causes more misery, more hate, and more revenge. A vicious cycle." He told her, both of his hands now in their respected pockets. They were clenched into fists. "I hadn't had a family in years, you know," Ulrich added, reinforcing his smile.
Ulrich yawned and decided to stand beside Ariana, though Jo's unorthodox speech caught his attention. "Hrm...?" The earth-user drawled, tilting his head slightly. He chuckled, rather than wait for an answer, and turned away shaking his head. Ulrich turned to Ariana and measured her, looking up and down. "So," he began finally. "It looks like we're all going to be one Hell of a family." Ulrich joked, smiling brightly at Ariana.
That's what I was thinking, also. I'm also tempted to add "personality" to the OC, as well...
Ulrich was shocked to see Ariana tending to his hand. He gave her a slight smile and nodded. "Yes," he replied. "Thank you." Ulrich gently moved his hand away, shoving it into his coat pocket. It didn't hurt as much as he played it out to be. The burn was only a mild one, like accidentally putting a hand on a sun-bathed metallic purpose. It didn't hurt, but he figured playing the part of the clown would ease the rousing tension. Ulrich hated violence as much as he hated being alone. He didn't want to watch his own kind fall apart on the account that they're all different people. It was nonsense, after all.
Ulrich grinned back at Jo as he helped her up, and then turned his head slightly to nod at Andrew. It took Ulrich a moment, however, to feel the immense heat from Jo's skin. He winced and quickly yanked his hand back, shaking it as he repeatedly whined "hot, hot, hot, HOT!"
"Ack!" Ulrich yelped as he rolled away from the force of the miniature explosion, getting hit by the debris. He lay where he stopped, not too far away from Jo, and remained there. He was dazed and smiling stupidly. It took a moment for him to regain his senses as he rose, approaching Jo again. "Are you alright?" Ulrich asked, holding his hand out to her.
Andrew spoke up, and Ulrich shook his head. All I have to pack is my red trench coat and the clothes on my back... he thought glumly, looking around. "This distrust and impatience is going to get us all killed," the earth-user observed. His attention went to Jellal, and feeling as if he had to be the one to support everyone like a crutch, he tapped his foot and gave Jellal an earth-made crutch of his own. Ulrich analyzed the dome and sighed, noticing the amount of magic it took to make it based upon its density, size, and dimensions. He found it unnecessary. Ulrich began to create an opening, causing the wall of the dome that Andrew used as an exit to disintegrate into dust. Ulrich already made his way towards the exit as he felt fear resonating from Jo's impromptu prison. Ulrich also felt the heat and panic that came from it, and he noticed the cracks and steam surrounding it. He approached Jo, placing a hand upon the heated earth. Ulrich winced at the touch. "Pardon me," he began politely. "I'll let you out of here if you promise to behave and put out your fire." As he said that, he turned to glare at Andrew. This is too cruel, Ulrich thought, returning his gaze to Jo and her prison. "I also apologize that the earth was used in this manner..." the wizard added genuinely, his voice soft and sympathetic.
Ulrich sat back and listened, shaking his head. He wasn't the sort to even fan the flames. Jo was mouthy as ever, so of course everyone will get on her. He would not, for if he kept playing as her enemy, she could go feral and destroy everything she ever dreamed of. Andrew, however, disappointed Ulrich's expectations. Rather than be laid back and level-headed, Andrew tried to wiggle his way into a leadership position without trying to get a feel for everyone. His patience was lacking. Maddie shocked him, for he never seen or spoke to her. Her words were one of desperation and compassion. Ulrich respected her for that, despite her timid appearance. Then, there was the de facto leader, Haley. She was trying hard to get things under control. Ulrich thought it was wise to keep out of her radar, but he kept himself ready to act.
Ulrich lay limp against the wall, snoring. He had dreamed of the easier times, before he had lost everything. He remembered the garden he tended, he remembered his friends and family. Ulrich even remembered the moment that he had made his most sacred promise. His creed. The bittersweet memories made him open his eyes. He didn't want to dream anymore. Ulrich sighed and yawned, popping his jaw and knuckles. He even popped his shoulders, necks, legs and ankles as he raised himself up. "Has anyone else dreamed of being chased by a giant iguana?" He asked, feigning obliviousness to the ambiance.
OOC: Well, congratz and I hope things go well for you. It's a pity you won't be back on. Hopefully you'll come back some time in the future? Ah well... au revoir and best of luck ^^
It's a miracle! I posted. '>.>
Ulrich felt confident that they could all sleep without worrying about soldiers. No one would want to search for wizards and witches that could break nearly an entire division, let alone a large group of them. Nevertheless, he himself was full of energy. Ulrich decided to take first watch. The earth-user placed a palm upon the ground and allowed the magic to flow, allowing him to be a living alarm system.
Lucifer Bedlam The Hatter's smile became a frown as Misa mentioned an obstacle that had to be jumped over first before he could have a tea party. This upset him greatly, especially because he was not a doctor of any sort. He always believed that tea was the greatest medicine, the greatest remedy, in all the land. "Bah humbug," Lucifer sighed. Nikki spoke next, thanking him. "Oh? You called? I was unaware. I was just passing through, chasing a little white rabbit, and all of a sudden, I find you here with this other girl... er... what's her name? Miso? Mumbo? Hockey? Lucifer? Wait, no... that's my name... hrm... Orphan? Taxi? Quilt? Er... Wabbajack?" He rambled on, though it was beginning to turn out he had forgotten what he was talking about. Again. Lucifer was no longer aware of his surroundings as he sorted through a thousand thoughts, sitting down on thin air. He had, unconsciously, gave himself weightlessness, and so he sat as though he were in a big comfy chair. He even removed his hat, a rare thing, and began to spin it like a wheel, slowly, in his hand. Lucifer was quite careful about it. When he finally came to to the real world, he realized there were more people around. "Oh, it's a party!" He said. "And it's her birthday! What a special girl, perhaps I should give her a present!" Lucifer jovially said. He began to rummage through his hat, searching for something. Every so often, he would pull something out. At first, it was a living, growling lion. He shoved it into the hat faster than a hare running from a bloodhound. The second time, it was a rather large snake. He couldn't tell if it was a mutated anaconda or just a boa constrictor. Nevertheless, he shoved it back into the hat. On and on this continued, ranging from incredibly dangerous and most likely lethal, to boring and safe. In the end, he found what he wanted. A slice of pumpkin pie with a lit candle on top, sported by a cup of tea. "Birthdays always need a slice of pie," he said. "Sadly, it can only go to one of you... hrm... what about that girl on the ground?" He asked, smiling wide as he rose up and began his way towards her. To his dismay, he tripped over his own two feet, and the pie and steaming cup of tea flew into the air. ************* Peter Piper Pepper Peter feigned hurtfulness at Krowley's rhyme as he entered. Upon seeing the Magic Mirror, he gave a shallow, mocking bow. "A pleasure to be in the chambers of the Queen's Magic Mirror. Would you like to play a game of Chess?" Peter asked, more or less rhetorically. " Otherwise, I would never go to sleep." The Piper added, wearing the general mask of an innocent and bored child. Already was Peter walking further into the room.
I apologize for not posting. I was out all day... and babysitting the puppy... so I'll post tomorrow after I wake up (which is most likely around 11 am or noon EST). Sorry, folks.
I apologize. It won't happen again.
Ulrich simply stared at Jo and shrugged. "The world's harsh. There's only so much you can do before things fall apart in front of you," he told her. Ulrich sat back and closed his eyes. He didn't need to sleep, or to rest. He barely expended much of his own magical abilities. By now, the roots and spikes he conjured on the commander and his wounded men had already returned to the earth, freeing them. Ulrich didn't want to be known for his own abilities. In fact, he didn't even want to exist. Thus was why he lied. Jellal's pride would be unharmed, even as he was unconscious. Ulrich had seen wizards in the past lose control and go on a magical rampage, then waking up afterwards to not remember a thing. It wasn't strange and it was believable. He sighed. "If you don't want to be something..." he murmured, more so to himself than to anyone in particular. "Then be what you want."
