Well, it looks much more different than your old style. The splatters could be placed in a more suitable place, particularly the right side of the render at the bottom. I can't discern any light to dark spots. It might help to combine this...'style' with your old one, so it doesn't look so bland. You could displace by a sparks layer, twice, and then just lower the opacity and then erase some of it. I'll try to think of more CnC, but I just can't think of it yet.
