This isn't exactly helpful, but... Why does random voting make more sense as mafia than as town?
Hello. What can I get you? Besides a murder. Who do you think is most likely to be mafia so far?
Did you change your mind about one of them being mafia?
Read the rest of the post you quoted, please. It should become clear.

We currently have no data at all. If we want to gain information, what is the benefit to avoiding a soft lynch? Only mafia will hammer a lynch on the first day, and the more information we can gain during the first day, the better. Ideally, we should be able to figure out two things: who refuses to vote for who without data and who willingly votes for who without data. If the people they vote for never reach lynch status, then their votes are meaningless and do not tell us anything concretely. Those votes only have real meaning if the people who make them are okay with it going to a tangible lynch. Possibility: If someone unvotes after their target goes to a soft lynch, that can mean one of two things. Either they are both scum, or the voter is not confident enough in their vote. It's possible that they are scumbuddies and the one voted for the other to appear indifferent, but when that person actually faced the noose, they backed off. Possibility: If someone easily reaches soft lynch and no one objects but the accused, then it is possible the target is town. It's not a guarantee, so the particular kinds of votes and reasons matter, but it's still valuable data even if the person gets mislynched. The earlier in the Day we figure this out, the better, because the earlier we catch it the better we can react to it before deadline. The mafia staying quiet when their own is in the crosshairs on day one is less likely. Personally, I think town don't have as much reason to back off in these cases as mafia. It's important that we as town do not back off of our votes too early, so what when someone does do it, we can tell that they are being a mafia buddy to their friend instead of a town losing confidence. If everyone avoids a lynch based on personal feelings then we cannot apply a process of elimination based on what people do. We can't think about any of these things if we make sure people stay safe below the soft lynch line. If there is no danger, there is no need for defensive actions. Just my two cents. @Robiɳ: You haven't voted yet... What are you thinking so far? ##Unvote: tale_wind ##Vote: hyuge
We can't work around that role unless someone claims it. Avoiding lynches doesn't make any sense so we have to behave normally unless something special comes up. We don't know which alignment a Hated user will be, either.
If you don't understand why this keeps happening: Things like this wouldn't happen if you could just admit you might have done something inappropriate, instead of blatantly blowing people off. This thread isn't that bad, but your reaction to being questioned about it was. When someone questioned whether it was necessary and if it was rude, you completely shrugged it off. You could have said, 'I don't believe so, but thank you for your concern.' Bonus points for giving your reasons? But you consistently choose not to take people seriously. You mocked their earnest attempts to help you make a prudent decision. When I came in and tried to explain why the question was sensible and should be treated as more than a joke, you said you wanted me to drop it. Your attitude towards non-staff is, simply put, arrogant and self-righteous. You are nearly completely unreceptive to critical analysis of your behavior (also known as criticism). You only respond to the stick. Even the smallest questions get turned aside with a 'Because' instead actual introspection. What you don't go 'whatever' or 'because' to, you just plain ignore. If they don't stop after these initial sidesteps, then you try to cast blame on the people critiquing you for the crime of not giving up on making you into a more functional human being. It's inevitable that people will get irritated when talking to you is the same as talking to a wall, even if the issue is small.
Yes, you are. You are not breaking the rules, but you are touching them. These threads are borderline breaking these rules: Pay attention to this line: "Please be considerate to all posters here and realize that not everyone shares your points of view or likes the same things you do. Do not incite fights, flame members or harass people." Threads like this are harassment (as in "aggressive pressure or intimidation"), and they have the potential to incite mob peer pressure, which can result in fighting and feelings of alienation for the target. Furthermore, this is a call out thread, plain and simple. You think it is okay to do these things because 'you don't mean harm' and 'you don't get warned', but they are pretty close to what is described here. That is just where you are extending your behavior to the edge of the rules. When it comes to non-staff, you are even more subversive. Your behavior in this area has been reprimanded as rude and harassing multiple times, such as when you pressured people in public and private alike to become Premium members. You should learn from these course corrections. I wonder why you don't?[DOUBLEPOST=1415433233][/DOUBLEPOST]Happy Birthday, Amaury.
If you only acknowledge reprimands from figures who punish you tangibly... Then you will stretch your bad behavior to the limits of the rules, and once you know what you can get away with, you will behave as you wish with impunity regardless of the feelings of others. That is a dangerous way to think. Your behavior may be rude whether that particular type of rudeness is punishable under the rules or not. Dropping it here doesn't change the effects of your original act.
If you think people letting something slide turns it into good behavior... I don't know what to say.
Hayabusa has a point. Think about the outcomes. Worst case, you incite a peer pressuring mob, which is very rude. Best case, it just clutters the forum, which is slightly rude (more so when you call out a moderator whose job is to keep the forum clean). You should reconsider publicly prodding people you are not close to.
She feels so much better now...
To all: Do you plan to vote for tale_wind, vote for someone else, or wait?[DOUBLEPOST=1415424621][/DOUBLEPOST]All but Marushi, of course.
Thanks. I tried to pick something Butler-like for this mafia game.
Why not vote for them, cstar...? There is little to lose. If they come on in time to defend themselves then we learn something from them and how people react to their posts. If they do not then we still learn something from who voted/when, and get rid of an inactive early. If they are mafia, then it is best of all worlds.

I half expected to get the Hated modifier. That would be all I needed.
I am. I can't decide if it is good or bad. I didn't realize you had signed up, Mish.
