This question is ****ing stupid, the proper adjective to use is dependent on the conditions in which the glass reached such a state. If my glass was previously full, and through the course of my consuming it has reached such a state, the previous actions dictate that the glass is gradually lessening in content. Thus, as I drink more it is adequate to state that the glass is halfway empty, on it's way to becoming empty. If my glass were previously empty, and what I enacted upon it to reach it's half state would be to fill it with my desired beverage, then the glass is being filled. Thus, the proper description would be to say that my glass is halfway full, on it's way to being full.
