While I agree with most people that tans make a person look healthier(and therefore prettier), I've always found a certain beauty in paleness. It depends on the paleness too, if it's paleness from lack of sun(the kind of creme-colored paleness where the skin looks almost like a stained tee-shirt), isn't very pretty. Naturally fine skin is lovely though. In ancient China/Japan, paleness was actually viewed as a sign of extreme beauty. Changing of the times I guess? I don't know. It's best to have a tan just to look healthy, but like with all things, women will be insecure and obsess until eventually they've ruined themselves trying to be something they aren't.
