"Whatever you say, my friend," Lestat sighed. "I'd hate to sound so arrogant and confident... well, maybe I do, but I have more strength and knowledge than both of you put together. Though that doesn't make you less interesting," he added with another laugh.
"Maybe," Lestat mused. "I'm sure you don't know all his capabilities... he may... surprise you one day."
"Which I'm sure he could make you do, easily, if he wished," Lestat grinned. "But I do think he enjoys toying with you. That earns him an once of respect on my part."
"Ah, that's right, I forgot," Lestat chuckled. "You're Will's... pet..." he faded off, laughing to himself.
"Oh really?" Lestat exclaimed dramatically, trying to look very interested. "What... restrictions would those be? More rules for your generation of immortals?"
"Hmm," Lestat muttered. "I doubt it. I'm not impressed with him so far. His tricks don't affect me, you... well, I don't know about you, and, so far, they haven't hurt the hunter. What good is he?"
"True," Lestat remembered. "Well, Will isn't as smart as we thought, is he?"
"Looks like they're getting ready to leave again," Lestat commented. "So much for talking to her..."
"Age, for people like us, doesn't matter very much," Lestat replied. "The experiences and what you do with your infinite amount of years is more important."
Lestat cocked his head to the side, confused. "In my whole lifetime so far, you mean?" he asked. "Oh, yes. I've done much more than you'll ever know or understand, my friend."
"I'm good with everything," Lestat laughed quietly. "Vampires, werewolves, women, humans in general..."
"Alright," Lestat replied. "Edward won't need much restraining..." You'll live, Lestat thought to the werewolf with a grin. Suck it up.
"Isn't it?" Lestat sighed sarcastically. "I'm not impressed. Though..." he added slyly, "your girl is close by... I'm surprised Edward's even standing right now. He continues to amaze me."
"She can hear his thoughts," Lestat smiled. "Like I always says, the Dark Gift is different for us all."
"So is the little girl still around?" Lestat asked casually. "She should go back to her friends."
"Well, I can't say I perfectly follow the rules," Lestat muttered. "That's where the fun comes in."
"Interesting," Lestat smiled. "You do know that I only kill evil doers, don't you? It's an ancient vampire thing, something that would takes days to explain to you, but that is what I do."
"Hungry?" Lestat muttered, smiling. "Or were you planning to disturb your girl this evening?"
Lestat winked nonchalantly. "I'm not worried about it," he replied smoothly. He threw his arms up dramatically and then let them fall back to his side, in a very "what will be will be" attitude. "Whether you trust me or not is not something I should completely worry over."
"Good," Lestat smiled. "I don't want you to or expect you to, my friend."
