Veronica lugged herself out of bed. Eyes strained and hair toussled. She drew back her violet-black hair and wrapped it into a messy bun. "Derek." Veronica called down the hallway of their new home. "We gotta get ready!" Veronica slightly yawned and went to the bathroom to freshen up an dress for school. Derek sat at the kitchen table reading a desired book. He rubbed his strained eyes and looked up as Veronica called out to him. "Ready when you are." Derek called back and got up to get a drink of water. "We should get there moderately early, Ronnie." Derek called. He was always the "man of the house". Starting to care for his sister at a young age and having to up root their lives. Derek looked out the window to see the suns rays barley kissing the midnight sky. He turned around and began getting his things ready for school.
